Well, the new season started again last night...

I was AMAZED at how big these contestants are....they (Bob and Jillian) were saying these are the biggest contestants yet....

Huge twist at the end....Only ONE team got immunity (like always) and only ONE team was above the yellow line...the other 10 teams had to send one of their mates home...whether it be their wife, their sister, their cousin, etc...

and I kept thinking...WHY would it be called "Couples", if after the first week, 9 of the couples were broken up?

Here's the twist....if after 30 days, the one person remaining from each couple is still in the game, the eliminated player from that couple gets to come back...

This should be interesting....

Looks like it'll be a good season....I turned it on last night, and hubby walked into the living room, and said, "Oh gawd, it's starting again....."

LOL, I told him I'd have him hooked again, and he can deny it all he wants, but it was obvious, he was WAY INTO last season. :)

What's funny is....they would NEVER admit that to their buddies.....

His sister called last night while we were watching...and she said, "What are ya'll doin'?"

he said, "Just laying on the couch"

I said, "Tell her! Tell her you're watching TBL....."

he put his hand over the mouth piece and said, "SHHH!"

LMAO.....

ROTFL!!!!!

Mine asked if I wanted to watch a bit when we got in and being that it was getting late, was 2 hrs long and I knew that we would want to watch it all once we started I said that I was a little tired and I wanted to finish the episode of the show that I had started before we left 1st. After that it would have been too late to start.

I think that he was a little anxious to watch it! lol..I am sure that we will watch it tonight.

You'll meet Daniel when you watch. I just REALLY want him to do well this season.

They really shouldn't call the show Biggest Loser:Couples. To me the whole idea is that you get to go there with a partner, someone who can be there to be your supporter, your cheerleader, to push you when you feel like you can't go any further. Thats what appealed to me initially when I watched the show with the couples. But every season they do the same thing- they split up the couples at some point and then it becomes this reality show filled with bitter people who seem to be more interested in winning the game than getting healthy. Now maybe I'm wrong about this group and as the weeks go on they will be shown to be more interested in their health and there won't be so much game play. But I think I got turned off to the show two seasons ago when that guy (I forget his name) gained weight on purpose. To me that should be against the rules of the show and he should have automatically been sent home. And what made it more insulting is that the next week he
lost all that weight and they hailed him for having the biggest weight loss week ever! I just don't care for the game play aspect in this particular show. I am not sure if I will watch this season, last season I saw just bits of it here and there, it comes on right before my must see Law and Order ( great show last night). I want them to focus on wanting to get healthy and not who they should vote out....

I loved the show last night. I'm glad Daniel got to stay. I really hope he does well.

Did you read that Michelle (winner from last season) got engaged after she won? She's only been dating the guy around 6 months or so.......I wish her luck! :)

From Reality TV world:
'The Biggest Loser: Families' champion Michelle Aguilar gets engaged

By John Bracchitta, 01/07/2009

Michelle Aguilar's 2008 ended in style -- losing 110 lbs. and gaining an engagement ring.

The 27-year-old The Biggest Loser: Families champion -- who beat out fellow season finale finalists Ed Brantley and Vicky Vilcan to win the competition's live December 16 final weigh-in -- got engaged to her boyfriend Micah Whitehead nine days after her victory, Us Weekly reported Wednesday.

"I was so shocked!" Aguilar told Us.

More The Biggest Loser: Families News

Aguilar, an assistant director from Ft. Worth, TX, has reportedly been dating Whitehead for four months.

The couple said they planned to wed in either the spring or fall in 2009. Aguilar told Us that she "absolutely" plans to use some of the $250,000 grand prize money she won from the NBC weight-loss reality show for the wedding.

Aguilar began The Biggest Loser: Families struggling to lose weight from her 242 lbs. frame and attempting to reconcile her relationship with Renee Wilson, her formerly estranged mother who was also a contestant on the show, and managed to successfully accomplish both goals.

Now at 132 lbs. and a size 4 to 6, Aguilar said that wedding dress shopping has been "absolutely liberating" and much more enjoyable than it would have been before she appeared on on The Biggest Loser.

"Before, you have that fear: 'Hey, can you pull me a size 20?'" Aguilar told Us. "What girl wants to say that?"

Center Line woman on ‘Biggest Loser’ faces charge
By B.J. HAMMERSTEIN • FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER • January 7, 2009

Shanon Thomas, a 30-year-old Center Line woman who appears in the new season of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” was charged with domestic violence Tuesday, after she allegedly threw a bag of flour at a tenant’s face when he refused to turn down his television.

Michael Nolden, 32, rents an apartment in the basement of Thomas’s Helen Street home. He told police that Thomas kicked open the door to his apartment on Dec. 16 and was yelling about the volume of his TV. Reports say Thomas then threw a bag of flour at Nolden’s face.

She appeared before 37th District Court Visiting Judge Sherman Faunce Tuesday in Warren, and was released on $2,000 cash or surety bond. She was ordered to have no contact with Nolden. A not guilty plea was entered on her behalf.

Thomas was arrested in 2004 in Royal Oak on suspicion of drunken driving, a court administrator said Wednesday.

She is teamed up with her mother, Helen Phillips, 47, of Sterling Heights, on the seventh season of the NBC reality show, which premiered Tuesday night. The pair is among 11 couples on the weight-loss centered show.

Two other Michigan teams are on this season of “The Biggest Loser,” the team of Carla Triplett of Detroit and her partner Joelle Gwynn of Southfield and Michael and Ronald Morelli of South Lyon.

NBC representatives said they have no comment on the flour-throwing incident.

According to the court, Thomas could face up to 93 days in jail if convicted on the domestic violence charge.

Thomas works as a massage therapist and had a starting weight of 283 pounds, according to NBC. She’d lost 13 pounds after her first week on the show; NBC officials declined to comment on whether the incident would have any bearing on her status on the show.

One of the teams was on Larry King last with with Bob and Jillian- I don't remember their names, but it was a father ( he was a cop) and his daughter. He lost over a 100 lbs, Jillian did not think he would be able to do it since he had so many health issues, but he did and what I think helped was that Jillian would email him every week, I bet not many would do that. I really like her and Bob and wish they would have their own show. One of them said last night that children learn their eating habits from their parents and because the retired police officer ate alot of fast food when his daughter was growing up that she took that with her as an adult and that is part of the reason both were so overweight, it was a great show last night and hopefully they will repeat it

Thank you Jules, I don't watch that much anymore, I love seeing the tips that Jillian and Bob give. I think both still look great and I think their weight loss will last, Coleen mentioned last night that it is a daily struggle and because she knows that this is not something that is conquered is why I think her weight will stay the way it is.

I think the whole show last night was about The Biggest Loser -- Michelle was on (with her fiance -- not sure I would put those two together!), the woman from last season who won (can't think of her name) and her mom; Jerry and Coleen -- and I think that was all. We flipped during commercials of the Bachelor.

It was great -- Jillian and Bob talked about each person/team. They were very supportive!

Biggest Loser's Alison Sweeney Gives Birth
By Breanne L. Heldman Tue Jan 13

Less than 7 pounds is rarely a significant weight loss for any of the contestants on The Biggest Loser, but, for host Alison Sweeney, it was a huge gain.

The reality competition matriarch gave birth to Megan Hope Sanov at 12 minutes to midnight on Monday. Megan weighed in at 6 pounds, 7 ounces.

"Everyone is doing great," a rep for the mom tells E! News. "[Alison] said she can't wait to watch The Biggest Loser tonight with her daughter."

The former Days of Our Lives star, 31, and husband Dave Sanov also have a 3-year-old son, Ben.

This is what I don't like about this show, the elimination, I watched it last night, had it on waiting for Law and Order to start- the two people that need the most help are the botton two....I hope I did not say too much- I just think when people are desperate to lose weight, all are desperate to lose in order to stay alive, to have better health, well I think the game aspect of eliminating players should be gone and have the focus be on losing weight and getting healthy.....

Jules
01-14-2009, 10:52 AM
I agree about the elimination last night....I'll wait for recap til Beach drops in on this thread...

but yea...too bad the two that REALLY need to be there fell below the yellow line....I would have put MONEY on Joelle going home last night.

The blow up between her and Bob? I've never seen him ~THAT~ pissed....

she's a marked woman, now.

This group is much nicer than last season -- that "green" lady made me cry when she went down to get th eorange guy. What compassion.

And they obviously realize that he needs to be there. I really hope he does well. Well,I hope they all do well (except the grey/silver lady). Sorry, I'm bad with names until we get farther into the season.

Why did trainer Bob go ballistic on contestant Joelle ?

Skeeter
01-14-2009, 03:20 PM
Cause she is a slacker. She wasn't willing to work as hard as everyone else. She only lost 1 pound. Unfortunately, so did two other guys, and their percentage of weight loss was less, so she was spared. Otherwise, she would have been toast.

I think it will be interesting to see if she steps it up (literally) next week.

I finally watched the premiere episode! I loved it!!! I especially loved the twists. These contestants are getting too good at the game aspect and think that they have it all figured out. Biggest loser has to keep them on their toes!

I think that the new twist will be very motivational and at least keep them on the right track for the 1st few weeks.

I read the article that Skeeter posted about the pink team mom(thanks for sharing that Skeeter) and thought that I was not going to care for her or even might judge her because of it but in her intro she said that she has battled a lot.....alcohol, etc and the weight was the last thing that she couldn't seem to control....so it made me wonder if what happened could have been due to her alcoholism? I am not making excuses for her but I wonder if it happened while she is drinking ....and she is clean now.

I am glad that Jerry is staying. The music that they played as he watched Stella go and said that he had to bring her back brought tears to my eyes.

I hope that Danielle does well as well. Well I hope that they all do!

I loved the segment with the dr at the beginning. It is very eye opening. I never realized that fat could begin to crush in on your organs.....that is so scary. His poor lungs!!! = O

Why would the one guys liver be double the size that it should be? What causes the liver to get that big????

Oh and did anyone find that 2nd weigh in distracting (in the 1st show)....poor alison was sweating so much that they had to dab her off between weigh ins. At 1st I thought that she was sick or having an anxiety attack or something so I was totally distracted. Then I saw everyone was sweaty. Wonder what the point of cranking up the heat was?

Anyway, LOVE the new season and twists so far!

I watched episodes 2 and 3 so am finally current.

WOW, Bob was furious. I saw what he was trying to do .... he was trying to break thru /break her down...but Joelle has some sort of block up.

She said that she could buy a house for 5,000 where she lives (that was why she was tempted to take the challenge money)....wow.....and I wonder how much a house like her friends goes for cause that was a nice house, imo.

Also, something is not right with her relationship with Carla, imo.
It is like an abusive couple relationship.
Are they a couple?
That can not just be her friend because friends do not treat friends like that. I would NEVER allow a friend to speak to me and treat me that way. I wouldn't allow anyone to.

I can tell that Joelle does not want to be there, Carla does. And Carla said that she is letting her there as a test to their relationship that it could make or break it(i thought that was a strange thing to say that 1st day).

I think that Joelle is afraid of Carla for some reason and just thank goodness that she didn't go home cause I have a feeling Carla would have seriously hurt her.

That said I have not liked that she has stayed and poor Jerry had to leave then Damien.

It is sad that because Damien was nice and sweet he was sent home and joelle stayed cause they know that she will be a huge disruption and liability to Bobs team.....but it was smart and good game play on the part of Jillians team. I knew it was going to happen when I realized that Jillians team had the numbers.

I can not wait to see Bobs reaction on Tuesday!!!!!!!!!

Oh and do you think that Daniel's friend is really eating fried chicken, hot dogs, fries, etc?
Is he doing that for the cameras or is he not losing weight thinking that when he comes back he will lose a lot the 1st week and keep them there; gameplay?
My husband thinks that as another twist the couples are going to have to weigh in when they come back and that this is going to backfire on him and Daniel in some way.
Wouldn't they have told us, the audience, at the beginning that this is what was planned to keep it fair?

Jules
01-26-2009, 04:22 AM
I totally agree about Carla and Joelle...something def isn't right.

And I'm with you...I was SCREAMING at the TV when Daniel's friend (What's his name again?) was eating all that Fried Chicken. That guy with him said, "Are you only going to eat one piece?"

He replied, "Depends on how hungry I am afterwards"....

I wanted to slap him silly.

I was shocked that Joelle stayed...but only because of her expression. It was almost as if she was Disappointed that she didn't get voted off....

We'll see how Tuesday plays out.

Bummer about Damien, too. I was really rooting for him. :(

I started watching it last week after reading about it here. I'm really not much of a Bachelor fan, all those two-faced back-stabbing women are sickening to me. The Biggest Loser is an uplifter, at least when you see all the stuff they go thru and the improvements they make in their lives.

I cried a bit, too....poor Ron PLEADING for his son to get to stay....

I was impressed with Joelle this time around.....I guess she knew her time was getting short. That, and the fact that Carla would probably Literally Kill her if she didn't get her own chance at the ranch....

Did you see how much weight Daniel has already lost, though.....101 lbs since he's left the ranch! And David...doesn't look like he even cares. Only 48lbs. And for him to say his committment was in it, but not his heart?

Joelle was starting to irritate me with her, "I see the light!" every time the camera was on her, or she knew she was being listened to....not sure if it's all for show or not, quite yet....

I did! I did! And probably watched it 2 or 3 times with all the rewinding, stopping and rewinding. I kept wondering what was up when Shannon from the pink team got on the scale and it showed she had gained 11 lbs, when in reality I think she'd lost 15. Then I finally realized they just made it look that way when they went to commercial break. I wonder how they are able to make it jump around like that when they first step on.

I'm glad they finally sent that Joelle home, but felt SO sorry for her teammate Carla. I don't think Joelle could've EVER been her friend, the way she was! I kept wanting to smack her upside of the head!

Which color team were the models again? I suppose I could go watch it yet again, but was it the green team? I have to say I've gotten hooked on this show. And I'm not a big fan of reality shows. Esp since even TV Land has jumped on the band wagon. I used to use it as an escape from reality. Now theirs are dumber than the major networks'.

The models are the green team....

Loved your recap....did you see the ending when Carla and Joelle met for the first time since the show (Months Later) and Joelle said, "We're not friends" and just walked away? What a bitch? I really felt bad for Carla, she WANTED this so bad...and she NEEDED it...

So as of now, both of the heaviest contestants, man and woman, Daniel and Carla are gone. And I really liked both of them.

The black team, Dane and Blaine, and the blue team, Sione and Filipe always amaze me at the weigh-ins.....consistent every week!

And THANK YOU for participating!

I really liked Daniel and Carla too! Carla worked SO SO HARD! Even both the trainers said she was trying to work 10 times as hard to pick up JOelle's slack. I had to chuckle when the one gal said, "I was surprised that she (Joelle) didn't GAIN weight, for no more effort than she put into it. Yet she has the nerve to say she worked extra hard and built up her endurance?" I probably shouldn't have put direct quotes, because I was paraphrasing what she said, but I loved how direct she was, and how everyone showed how much they loved and supported Carla. Joelle looked put out that they didn't pay any attention at all to her.

Carla is better off without a "friend" like Joelle. I'm so hoping she'll show up Joelle, do way better, and get way smaller than her. I just could not believe the gall of that woman!

I'm amazed at all the hard workers. I'm so glad they're getting the payoff they deserve--esp the women. It just seems like it's so much harder for women to lose weight than men. I do fine as long as I'm seeing results, but as soon as I hit a plateau that goes on for what seems like forever, I start losing faith. It's heart-breaking when you're trying so hard, exercising, staying away from those trigger foods, etc. A guy just gives up beer for a week and he drops like 15 lbs.

Jules

I agree with that....the men seem to have it so easy....plus, they dont have to deal with the menstrual weight gain, either....so that makes a difference, I'm sure...

I thought it was great at the end, when Joelle and Carla got voted off and everyone went and hugged Carla, but NO ONE even gave Joelle a second glance....

Skeeter
02-05-2009, 03:30 PM
The problem lies in the fact that Joelle has kicked it in gear at home; she has lost more weight than Carla, and if truth be told, she looks pretty good!

If that's what it took for her to lose the weight, more power to her -- I hope she can keep it off.

I hope Daniel is doing well.

You're right, Skeeter, but it's sad that a friendship had to come to an end over this. I understand Carla's frustration, it is HER LIFE, and she was fighting for it....but for Joelle and Carla BOTH to be so stubborn as to let a friendship die...well, maybe they weren't "best friends" to begin with.

Skeeter
02-06-2009, 06:31 PM
It IS too bad. They both went there trying to better themselves, and instead, tore their friendship apart (or whatever friendship they had).

Too too bad. Hopefully they can repair it over time. (but I'm not really hopeful!)

I am finally caught up. I thought that the challenge where they were attached and had to crawl over and go under the pole to unravel the string was really cool.

Don't like the yellow team. She sure had some nerve telling off Joelle when she only lost 2 lbs at home in a month and tried making excuses. She looked like an idiot yelling at Joelle not to make excuses.

I still do not know what to make of Joelle and Carla. I know one thing....I would not have subjected myself to another of Carla's rants either because that IS what it would have turned into and Joelle knew that. I am glad that she got up and walked away.

Why why why is bob wearing the jeans tucked in boots and a faux belly shirt. Why Bob why!!

I watched it too. I just haven't been around much today again to talk about it. I guess I didn't see the emotional part. Yeah they were all emotional, but I didn't see any conflict. The person said they wanted to go home, so I didn't see that there was any other choice. I hated that it wound up being that team, but since I've never watched on a regular basis to keep up before this one, I don't get it. Why was only one team affected, and why are they back to sending just one of them home instead of the whole couple?

It started out with father and son trying to figure out why they are not losing.
Son has been burning 10,000 calories a day and dad says it isn't working so they need to talk to Bob.

Players had their 1st pop challenge; stand on a block on one foot.
Last foot down wins a loved one to visit the ranch.

Brown team and Kristin (purple team daughter) out 1st...right away.

Yellow team (Mandi) really wants it to see her husband---2nd time that she has said that her husband does not support her being there. Sad.

Mandi laid a guilt trip on Filipe at the end and says Filipe please let me see my husband and he stepped off for her.
Then she asked Blane---almost begged and the other team member pressured him a bit so he stepped off and gave it to her.
She won 24 hrs with her husband. Jillian did not like it at all. Said that of all the contestants to win it Jillian was hoping that it would not be her because her husband would be a big distraction especially with his guilt trip attitude.

They also surprised Mandi with her kids visiting over night.

Next challenge was holding a bar ----one team member on each end over top of another bar, if the bar that they were holding touched the bar under it the team was out.
Came down to purple and green team; purple team won and won immunity.

That was the 1st hour.

Jules
02-13-2009, 04:27 AM
Cool....I saw VERY little of the bar challenge....and heard Allison say something like they were going on 4 hours??? And then the weather man interrupted again....

Thank you for the recap.

How could he be burning 10,000 calories and not losing any weight? Was he eating? I don't understand that.....

MacBug

The way I understand it, is the kid finally did have a good weight loss this last time. I think it was in the double digits. Then Bob said, "See what happens when you eat ALL your calories?" Then he said, kind of like as a public service message, that people think if they eat less, they'll lose more weight, and the opposite is true. If you're working out more, you need more calories to lose weight.

Sorry I meant to do the 2nd hr last night and something came up.

Hr 2

Bob talked with the guys and knew that they were working out on track. The son was not eating enough and was eating no carbs. Bob said that carbs are needed with the intense workouts that they were doing.

They then did a "subway commercial" but this one was pretty cool, Bob said c'mon we are going to Subway and fill up your water bottles cause we are walking. The contestants said but we are on the ranch with nothing around I have never seen a Subway, lol

So they hiked to Subway and Bob says okay now go pick out healthy snacks for the road because we are eating our actual meal at the subway 2 and a half miles from here. So they walked to that one and had dinner and talked. Bob reiterated to the son that he needs the carbs and to eat his sub to fuel his body and then they walked back home after the meal.

Yellow team husband visited. I think that he was holding his tongue for the cameras but did seem loving although I could see that he was not happy about her being there and staying in the least. They had last chance training....she didn't participate so that she could be with her family and when she was supposed to start she came into the gym crying and begging Jillian to let her have 1 more hr, Jill said that she knew this would happen, yellow girl said please they are leaving in an hr and I want to spend it with them. Jill said that she had been with them all day while everyone else worked out but told her to go ahead but that she wasn't happy. Then her team mate broke down during last chance training because she missed her family and wanted to see her kids too. Jillian had to stop and speak with her, Jills team seemed to be a mess this week..

Yellow team girls lost 1 lb and 6lbs and barely made it above the yellow line. You could see in Jills face that she was not happy and blaming it on the upset and them losing focus.

The son fell apart during training. It broke my heart to watch the son cry as he trained and his dad watched helplessly. Mike(son) was hurting so bad but knew that he had to push it to carry his dad and keep them there and was afraid that he would have another off week. He was feeling so overwhelmed, he was just lifting those weights and crying and crying. You could see his dads heart breaking. Finally Bob took him outside and spoke with him and asked if he thought that he could handle this and the pressure, he said yeah, Bob told him that he had to for his dad because his dad had to stay that Bob saw this as his dads last chance, he said that this was his dads last ditch effort and that he needed to stay and that he needed Mike to carry him. I was almost dying. I felt for Mike, it was breaking my heart.

Bob spoke on camera alone away from the teams and said that Mike has to trust him on the eating if he wants to keep his dad there. Bob said he has to eat. He also said that he was kind of nervous though because this is it, if this does not work then he will have to concede for the 1st time ever and say that there is someone that he just can't help. =(

It did work though.....Mike got double digits and carried his dad to safety this week. He needed this for his confidence.

Black team fell below and Bob whispered before they left which one to vote off no matter what (Dane) and they did the hr deliberation and the opposite wanted to go home to be with his new baby and wife.....and green girl told bobs team something like they better not do game play instead of playing with their heart,.....and one of bobs team spoke up and called bulls*** because they game played when they sent Damien home instead of Joelle that week. But they still played with their hearts and sent Blaine hone instead of Dane since Blaine wanted to go home. Bob is going to be mad! lol

Thank you BR from me too. After reading your recap, I realized I hadn't seen the 1st hr bc I remembered very little what you wrote about the first hr. I did see the purple team won immunity, and it was a good thing too. Or they DEFINITELY would've been below the yellow line this week, 'cause they cancelled each other out. One gained two lbs, and the other lost 2.

I guess I don't get it now, but maybe it's bc the teams are dwindling down. It seemed to me that just the black team was the only one being considered to go home, but only one would actually go home. Why is that? This is the first season I've watched with any regularity. I only missed the first episode, then I started recording it since.

How do they come up with only one winner? And does the couple win anything as a couple or just the actual one who wins? And what about the teams that Bob and Jillian have? Somehow they're split too, how does that come about? Does Bob or Jillian win/get anything if someone from their team wins it all? Or just bragging rights? I'm really getting into this and loving it! I'm also learning too.

You are welcome MB =)

There will only be one winner at the end so it was just a matter of time before they starting breaking up teams. I am thinking that everyone will broken up into 2 equal teams. That is what they usually do. So sooner or later I am expecting them to break the couples up and make them into singles. At that point couples could be on separate teams. They will probably pass out new Tshirts at that point---Jillian is the black team and Bob is the blue team.....they used to have a red team when Kim was there training.

I have wondered if Jill or Bob get a bonus if their player wins. I have a feeling that they do but they have never addressed it.

MacBug

I think they should win something. After all, it's really hard to encourage and motivate people when they're trying to lose weight. It is so discouraging sometimes. LOL, when I first saw that Jillian Michaels, I thought, 'What a bitch'. Then I saw her as a guest on RR, and she seemed to really genuinely care about people and wants to help them. I really like her now!

Yes I think they both want their team to win, but I think they really want to see someone they've been working so closely with lose the weight and get healthy! Kudos to both!

Not just for her team to win so she looks good. Actually I think Bob cares and wants the same for his team too. I just find I like Jillian better bc I'd had a negative view of her before. Kind of like compensating for how I felt before.

True the pink team messed up with Shannnon asking to be sent home, but after they asked, it was out of their hands, wasn't it? I got the feeling that Shannon maybe decided she wanted to stay when she said they considered coming and talking to them all again. The mom didn't have any say at that point anymore, did she? I didn't detect any remorse either though and that Pink Mom really was glad to get to stay. Just trying to be fair here---somewhat.

I agreed with (wasn't it Kristen of the Purple team?) who said she'd miss all of them if she had to go home, bc they were all fun to be with. They all really looked like they were having fun wrestling in the mud, lol. I wouldn't mind getting all muddy like that, but I can't stand the feel of mud when it dries. EWWW!!!

Is it Kristen of the Purple team who wants to lose weight so she can have a baby? I was getting really irritated with Tara always whining about how Laura was doing. She had her own self to worry about. She did seem genuinely pleased for Laura that she had a big weight loss.

I find myself really rooting for the brown team, just because the son is trying so VERY hard to help his dad stay in it. I imagine by this point it's hard to eliminate people when you've become friends with them and are urging each other on.

I'm really loving this show, but wish I'd seen it from the beginning. How many weeks has this been on now? I have them recorded from when Joelle and Carla got eliminated, but thought I'd been watching it at least a week longer.

Sometimes I think she just wants her to do so well, and doesn't feel she gives it her all (which she doesn't appear to).

Tara KNOWS that she has more to lose; without a doubt, if they fall below the yellow line she is out of there. She will succeed and home and she IS more of a threat.

It's gonna keep getting tougher in there as the group thins out.

Here's my take on the Yellow Team.....and dont get me wrong, I give everyone a chance until they give me reason NOT to like them...remember Vicky from last year? Hated her.

I don't like the yellow team becuase of Aubrey. She went HOME for 30 days, came back and had only lost TWO pounds. That's right people. 2. I lost all respect for her at that point. I understand, you have kids.....how many? 5 or so.....I get it. You're busy. You're a mom. You're a wife. I TOTALLY GET THAT......I have 4 kids, as well.....

But get this.....I lost 3 pant sizes in 5 weeks, dropped 22 pounds....all in 5 weeks...AT HOME.....before my wedding. And I was BUSY....with the kids, the family chores, planning a wedding, etc...you have to MAKE time. Just because you are a contestant on the Biggest Loser, it doesn't mean you don't have to work to lose the weight! Its a struggle and you have to be consistent! GEEZE, AUBREY!

And yea, I'm with you, Skeeter...it bothers me when Big Brown Dad takes his shirt off, but you have to admit, he's getting better......and my youngest daughter, she's 4....she saw him take his shirt off during the first week or so and said, "Momma, how come he has three bellies?" That was hard to explain.....I did the best I could. :)

Aubrey bothers me also because okay you lost 2 lbs, okay you made excuses and were called out on it by the trainers, what does she do the very next week she calls Joelle of for her weight loss that week and starts preaching the words that were used on her the previous week. Exactly.....and I don't know, I get a vibe from her. I feel, and could be totally alone in this....that she works just hard enough to stay there each week....I dont feel like she gives any extra Umph...if you know what i mean.....

I do feel sorry for Ron (Brown team dad)...but Bob did well by putting him in the pool. I was telling hubby that if I was a contestant there, I'd be in the pool ALL the time....and we hardly see anyone in there at all....or they edit it to where they cut that part out. Swimming is incredbile exercise and it looked like it payed off for him. How much did he lose? 7 or 8 lbs?

I know what you mean about Aubrey.

I had a feeling that not having the gym, and switching it up was going to help with their weight loss.

The body gets used to monotony and sometimes causes things to slow so I think that this was just what they needed to keep things steadily going.

Jules
02-19-2009, 07:04 AM
I was shocked that the pink team got booted, even though they had access to the gym. Maybe if they spent more time working out, instead of making Jillian's side into a lounge, they'd have lost more weight.....

And good for Dane...he NEEDED the immunity. Without it, he'd have been voted off. He only lost 4 pounds!

I'm sure, because of that, next week he'll bring in double digit weight loss. I hope so.

He would have lost more had he not had immunity...same as the purple team girl that gained 2 the week before with immunity.....they know they have the immunity so they do everything they can to lose weight then they drink a ton of water before to make it look like they did not lose any and then pee it out and continue losing weight the following week to add up to 2 weeks immunity. They have the game figured out.

A gallon of water weighs between 8 and 8 and a half lbs. I will never forget the time (i believe that it was in Biggest loser Australia) the girl drank 2 gallons and put on 17 lbs. She said she drank more than she thought. But she lost 17 plus her real weight the next week and was safe----smart game play......but I do not know how they hold it thru weigh in! lol

We had a guy do that here in a previous season.

They usually do not go that crazy with it. lol

Jules
02-19-2009, 07:17 AM
I remember the guy that did it here.....was it last season or the season before that?

I still love Bob's comment last year..."They take off their shirts before stepping on the scale...like that's going to make a difference..."

I think it's their choice.....not sure, though. I wish some of them would leave them on...

Have you seen the HUGE tattoo on one of the girls from the yellow teams backs????

omg its enormous. I see it when she's walking up to the scale...I think it's Aubrey, but not sure.

beachreader
02-27-2009, 05:35 AM
Not me...was it good?

MacBug
02-27-2009, 05:40 AM
I did, and I've been recording them all since I started watching a little later into the season. Sometimes I watch them again because I miss something and don't understand what happened because I was day-dreaming (I guess), or we turn it over after it's already a half hr in.

I was kinda surprised how hard Bob took the change in teams. I can certainly understand the teams themselves being upset, but I wouldn't think it'd affect the trainers that much. Jillian was pretty much business as usual, however she was pretty understanding when one of the guys from Tonga (Fillipe or Sione---whatever their names are) was mad about it. Actually I think it helped them all, because they all seemed to have had big losses this week.

Dane, the guy they sent home, has a really pretty wife & a darling family! He's done so well! He lost 100 lbs in 8 wks! That seems so unreal! He's run a 26 mil marathon with his wife. I am loving this show so much!

I sure wish that Ron would leave his shirt on, yuck! I want him to be successful, but I would've probably voted to send him home instead of Dane. And not because of the way he looks with his shirt off, lol.

Jules
02-27-2009, 05:45 AM
LOL, I cringe a little too...just like Beekeeper...or was it Skeeter who said that? LOL....

It was probably a SMART move on their part to vote off Dane...he was the bigger threat....but I do agree about Ron holding them back. He does the best he can, bless his poor heart (literally)...

I was shocked to see Bob crying over the switch....I wanted to say, "PULL IT TOGETHER, MAN! It's not like this is a surprise to you!"

And honestly, I think they would have sent Kathy home if she hadn't gotten immunity.....I don't know why I feel that way. She does ok....

But...it's a game. And they sent home the biggest threat on the show....

And the more I watch, the prouder I get of Laura (green team, former model). She has really come around.

MacBug
02-27-2009, 05:55 AM
Yeah I agree. I'm liking the green team a whole lot better than I did for awhile there. There hasn't been anyone I've wanted to see get voted out now since Joelle. She really bugged me.

Jules
02-27-2009, 05:57 AM
I'm guessing Joelle lied about "seeing the light"....lol. Sad that her and Carla are no longer friends. I don't blame Carla. She tried. Even after they got voted off....

I wonder how they are going to act around each other at the finale....

Jules
02-27-2009, 11:11 AM
Strategically speaking, I think the next person who needs to be voted off is one of the Tongo cousins...they consistently pull big numbers.

I don't yet have a favorite of who I want to win the whole show....I used to. Daniel. The biggest kid/contestant ever from the Orange team. Too bad he had a DOUCHE for a partner. I really wanted to see him go all the way.

MacBug
02-27-2009, 11:25 AM
I kind of like that Kristen from the (formerly) purple team. I don't have a problem with her mother either, although I'd like to see one of the kids or younger people win. I don't have a problem with anyone winning who's left, but the parents have had most of their life already, can and will probably lose enough weight so that they'll live longer, but the young people have a lot of their lives to live yet. Kristen wants to have a baby, the green team girls aren't married yet, the yellow team girls have young families they should/could have a longer healthier life for, etc. That's just the way I'm thinking so far. Although any of them can win and I would be really happy for them. I'm glad those who have gotten voted off went on to lose more weight.

Either that, or Sione' or Filipe, one of the two, because they are both big threats to the game.

03-04-2009, 06:36 PM
So I missed the beginning of the weigh-in. If they DON'T make the 77 lbs, do they get to choose who goes home on each team, or is the lowest loser, or what?

I'm thinking they are going to make it. Two votes in one show wouldn't make much sense.

Jules
03-05-2009, 04:24 AM
We don't really know....at least I didn't get it when Ally was explaining it. I just know that Mike has to lose more than 9lbs....

Poor kid. Talk about the weight of the world being on his shoulders ONLY because he got picked last to weigh in. He not only has to lose his 7lbs, but extra to make up the slack for the other contestants.

Damn.....Hubby and I were watching, and I kept thinking....they'd better hurry up, the show is almost out of time...they still have to show the elimination, the before and after pics, etc....

UGH!

As far as the weigh in goes....I wasn't surprised ONE bit.....Jillian is right. Every decision you make has an impact. Tequila shots? Kobe beef sliders? FRIED CHICKEN AND FRENCH FRIES????

And the way Filipe went OFF on Jillian? Damn, he was so pissed I thought he was going to start crying!!

Monicauf
03-11-2009, 04:32 AM
I flipped last night between this and AI- When you want to lose weight and get healthy then no, you don't have one day. Or maybe you do, but not to indulge the way they did- they went beyond overboard, and then they could not be an adult about it and own up to it. Not sure why they felt the need to lie, at least own up to your mistakes, I agree with Jillian, too many excuses, it is someone's else's fault and she had a right to be pissed. There are many people that would love to be on that show, and would take advantage of free trainers, people who know what they are doing. As for Jillian and Filipe, I am
> going to say that Jillian is right, Felipe is a big boy, if he has a problem and he clearly did then he should have been an adult and talked to her, but instead he acts like a little baby, eats and drinks way too much on their day off and then blames her, yes it is all her fault. We all make mistakes, we all have to deal with people that we don't like it, but you have to just deal with it. I don't blame Jillian being frustrated, not many get free personal trainers and if they don't care about losing weight and getting healthy then they need to leave.

I heard that Bob and Jillian will not be back next season, do you know if that is true?

Jules
03-11-2009, 05:14 AM
I totally agree. He blamed her. "I should not have let my trainer get to me like that."

WHAT? I'm sorry, but WHAT? Blaming her? He was stuffing the food down his face like it was his last meal before execution. Gimme a break.

They won't be back? Will there even be a next season? I hadn't heard that....Oh, I hope it's not true!

MacBug
03-11-2009, 06:27 AM
I agree, I was already getting tired of his hissy fit when he first got sent over to JIllian's team. I thought he'd eventually get it out of his system & settle down, but no, he got worse! I was kind of mad that the black team won yet again (the weigh-in). I was sure the blue team would win after watching them all pig out like that.

The one girl (I think from the original yellow team) who gained two lbs---I was shocked at first when I saw that. But I got to thinking, yes you CAN gain weight instead of losing when you have a lot of stress, but it still broke my heart for them.

I got mixed up as to who was sent home. I can watch it again, but wasn't it Aubrey who wound up getting eliiminated? Or was it Mandy? I get those two sisters mixed up, esp now that they don't wear their original yellow.

Jules
03-11-2009, 06:43 AM

Man, that marathon...thought it was great that everyone finished it....(except Ron)...

I have to say, if I was Tara, OH I would have been PISSED at Helen for eating that damn cookie.....that cookie, that one damn cookie, took the $10,000 away and gave it to Sione....
And it's sad....looks like she's reached a plateau. 0 lbs lost the week before this one, and only 2 lbs this week? I can understand her frustration. Especially after running the marathon? How is it possible that they lost so few pounds this week? And with Ron, only completing 4 miles of it, and he lost more than anyone? 10 lbs! Good job, Ron.

Man....

I'm starting to feel really sad for the blue team.....they can't catch a break!

And Aubrey's Dad???? OMG.....HE needs to be on the show more than Aubrey does.

It was sad when Cathy gave herself up, but I would have done the same thing for my daughter if I was in that situation.

I still can't get over how many people are so close to the 100lb mark. And Mike? I'm Way Impressed. : ) I cried when they went home and his brother broke down in tears, It got me sobbing, too. I'm an emotional basketcase with stuff like that.

MacBug
03-19-2009, 06:30 AM
D I T T O on everything you said Jules. I cried to have to see Cathy go home, but I'm so happy she volunteered herself. I think she and Kristen are excellent examples of the mother/daughter team.

OMG, I thought Shannon was beautiful the other night! You know ever since Helen let Shannon go home before herself, I haven't liked her. She made me doubly mad when she ate that cookie against Tara the other night.

I haven't liked that Sione either since he defected from JIllian. I agree with Jillian that Bob should've sent him back to Jillian to work out his problems with her, instead of letting him acting out his crybaby tactics. Changing team trainers is actually a good thing. After doing the same things, working with the same personality, etc, you need to change things up a bit. I think they give really fun and interesting challenges. Eating cookies to sabotage someone else, just sabotage yourself. It seems everyone else figured that out.

I felt so bad for the blue team again. I was happy for Ron being the high loser for once though. Aren't Mandy and Aubrey sisters? They must not live in the same town or state. Otherwise I would've thought they'd have included her in that segment about their dad.

And aren't these people getting so much better looking since losing weight?

Jules
03-19-2009, 06:45 AM
Yes, Aubrey and Mandy are sisters, and I'm just guessing that when Mandy got married, she moved to another state with her family....

I could hardly stand to look at her dad when he was sitting there in that chair, and the camera man did a close up of his body.....man oh man.....

03-24-2009, 10:23 AM
Oh and another thing----this morning on Rachel Ray, they had a woman who'd lost 150 lbs, but when she looked in the mirror, still saw herself the way she had been. She was still choosing clothes way too big. They had Michelle (winner of TBL from last season) and that lady whom they usually use for fashion advice take her & helped her pick out clothes that showed off her new figure! OMG! Talk about tear-jerker moments! I'm such a sap for this kind of stuff!

Jules
03-24-2009, 10:30 AM
The "spoilers" for tonight are that there will be records broken during the weigh ins.....which ....we knew it was coming...there's like 3 or 4 contestants right now just short of the 100lb mark.....I hope all of them make it!

And poor Tara...I really hope she has a good weigh in tonight. She's lost 2lbs in the last two weeks.

MacBug
03-24-2009, 10:41 AM
Yeah but Jillian told her she's over training, not sleeping and not eating her calories. She's sabotaging herself doing that too. I sure hope she has a good weigh in too though. I'm really liking her and Laura.

I hope they all make it too! Do they just keep eliminating until there's only one left to be the winner?

Jules
03-24-2009, 10:43 AM
They eliminate all but 3 or 4......and then they have like 6 weeks or so before the Live Finale....and whoever loses the most percentage of bodyfat ends up being the Biggest Loser.

MacBug
03-24-2009, 10:45 AM
Oh so this will going on yet for some time yet then. Good! Because I'm not anxious for the end. I don't care who wins it all. I think they're all winning just by losing, lol.

Jules
03-24-2009, 11:11 AM
I agree. I don't have a favorite either. I did at the beginning of the show....Daniel.....the heaviest kid.....his teammate ruined his chances for him.

MacBug

One aspect I AM anxious to see, is how much weight those who got sent home lost. They do show an update when they show their elimination, but they have time to lose further, don't they? Otherwise, what would be the point of them all coming back for the Finale?

Who was the first couple sent home? The older grey haired married couple they show in the opening? I'm not sure how many episodes I missed before I caught on about TBL.

I see on the website that later they're gonna break up the teams and will be competing as singles from now on. Also saw that about someone breaking the record.

You know, I'm surprised that Ron even lost a 100 lbs. It seemed that almost every weigh in he'd only lose single digits, except for this last weigh in where he lost 10, or was it 14 lbs. I must've not noticed all of them, or wasn't paying that much attention to him until lately.

Some awesome weigh ins tonight!

Jules
03-25-2009, 04:39 AM
Agreed! Wow, I was CHEERING for her, "Pull baby, pull! Be pissed off! Fuel the fire! Run away with it! Let Sione' see the backside of your ass as you leave him in the dust!"

So glad that Laura went and talked to her! "Do it for yourself! What will America think?"
I can understand why Tara was upset. That had to have felt disheartening, everyone ganging up on her......I felt SO bad for her when she only lost 99lbs...(taken out of context, that sounds horrible of me to say)....ONE more pound, baby...you can do it.....

Good for Kristen, glad she lost 100lbs as the first woman to do it....she WAS the heaviest woman (after Carla left)....

I'm ok with who got kicked off, too, but I still think it's dangerous for Aubrey to be at home. She didn't learn discipline, obviously.....come on...gaining NINE pounds in the first 3 weeks of being back home?

Don't get me wrong. I know she has kids. I ~GET~ that.....but so do I. 5 weeks before my wedding, I was working out for 2 hours a day, losing weight, toning up....lost 3 pant sizes. AT HOME! It CAN be done!

MacBug
03-25-2009, 06:19 AM
I was so happy for Tara that she won that car pulling race! Man you have to hand it to her, she's got guts. When she wins, she DESERVES to win! Tara is AWESOME!

Laura made her biggest contribution since the beginning of the show when she talked Tara out of quitting. I now have TREMENDOUS respect for her! She was the friend back to Tara at the most important moment!

Every week of this show gets better and better! Loved the picking of their trainers and why they picked them!

Jillian seems to be the most confident, stronger, of the two trainers. She seems unfazed whenever someone chooses against her, whereas Bob shows he's disappointed when they go with Jillian. Plus that time when Sione had a big fit when he had to go to JIllian's team ---- Bob should've encouraged him to try to work with her better than he did, which was almost nill. When Kristin was worried she wouldn't get enough attention, she pulled JIllian to the side and told her in private what her concern was. She did it the RIGHT way, and she got what she wanted.

As much as I was happy that Tara won the challenge---esp since the cards stacked against her seemed unsurmountable---I'm so glad it was Kristin who got the 100 lbs first. I like to see the winnings spread around a little.

Jules
03-25-2009, 06:26 AM
Agree on what you said about Kristin talking to Bob. She didn't have a breakdown in front of Millions of People like Filipe did.....

Jules
04-01-2009, 04:04 AM
Totally agree....they were threatened by her.

Glad Ron stayed.

Could NOT believe there was so much weight GAIN at the weigh ins!

Won't post anymore til more people confirmed if they watched or not....

MacBug
04-01-2009, 05:27 AM
I can believe it about the weight gain. Stress has a lot to do with that, even Bob, (or was it Jillian) said that. She had a lot of catching up to do & it had to be confusing. Nicole was already gone by the time I started watching. It was hard to believe Nicole gained 5 LBS though. She'll probably be better off at home anyway. It has to be disheartening to come back for a week, only to get eliminated the next weigh in.

Ron annoys me at times, but he does have a tougher row to hoe than the others, so I glad they spared him. And isn't Mike starting to turn into one good-looking kid? He might even be a hottie by the end of the show.

I found myself tearing up seeing NIcole in that size 12 wedding gown. If anyone can get down to a size 8, I have no doubt it'll be her! Oh my! She had considered killing herself? Now that breaks my heart. But I'm so happy to see her turning into the kind of woman she always wanted to be! This show is so uplifting!

Great recap!

I agree, glad they spared Ron. He was right, it wouldn't have been fair to send him home, he was, what, filled with 9 bags of saline solution? That's a couple of pounds right there.

Loved the challenge this week. The balancing act. Thought Sione got too cocky, but at least he was able to win it in the end....I kept thinking, "His mouth is going to override his ass here in a minute", by telling them that they needed to remove more ropes because he was "bored".

And yes! Yes! about Mikey! He is looking great! And last night was the first weigh in where he didn't remove his shirt before getting on the scale. Did you notice? I was proud of him, he said he had a bad week, but he still lost 11 pounds. Way to go!!!!

Not that it matters, but they have not been taking their shirts off for a couple of weeks -- and the girls have been wearing their longer shirts -- I think it's too add to the surprise when we see the big reveal in a few weeks.

And yes, he is looking good. He is a heartthrob already -- he has such a huge heart. :)

I've been going back and watching the earlier episodes this afternoon. I just got thru watching the one where the black team won the yr's worth of groceries, and Mike gave his to Aubrey. OMG!! He is the SWEETEST kid! As much as Ron irritates me at times, he sure raised a big-hearted kid! I guess I'd forgotten some of that, or hadn't really established who was who when I saw that. I mean I thought it was really nice of him at the time, but it's good to watch the older ones to get a feel for the contestants.

Y E S it I S, and I'm E X C I T E D!!!!

I watched the episode this morning where they got divided up into blue and black teams, and how upset everyone was about it. I almost couldn't believe Bob though! He was complaining about it to Kristin while she was working out. She had gotten over it, although she and her mom got to stay with him together, but I still thought it odd that Bob had such a hard time with it.

LOL, and no wonder Tara has a target on her back, she's won just about every challenge or contributed largely to her team's winning them! I thought she was kind of nasty toward Laura in some of the earlier ones since I started watching, but Laura was there for her and talked her back down from wanting to throw the weigh in. I sort of didn't blame Tara either, bc Laura did seem to be kind of a big baby when things got difficult for her. But not now, I really like those two now!

Parden me for hashing over the old stuff again, but I find I'm getting more out of it looking back at them. I love all the tips too!

Man, that Mike is going to be one heck of a good looking kid (on the outside as well as the inside) when this is all over. Wow......

I SO agree about Mike! HOwever his dad is majorly getting on my nerves! I felt bad for Laura having to make that decision, even though she wanted to win it at first. Hubby thinks Helen is a back stabber. There have been times I felt that way about her, but not the last few weeks.

I know! Great episode!

Ron's first words of the episode were, "Thank you,for those who voted to keep me here. And for those of you who voted against me, may you get struck down and die."

Real nice example for your son, there, Ron. Great. Way to be a "stand up" guy. *snark*

I agree about Mikey looking like a little hottie now. He deserves it. He's worked SO hard. I'm incredibly proud of him.

Sione's after pics.....not bad...... ;)

Ok, was anyone else freaked out by the Hongan (sp?) dance they did in their room before elimination? I was waiting for the lights to flicker and the voodoo dolls to be brought out. Eric looked at me and said, "Are they trying to freak out the other contestants?"

I used to like Helen, and yes, she's looking fabulous, BUT.....I think she's manipulative (I guess in this game, you have to be) and incredibly transparent. Telling Laura that it would be a good move to vote Tara out? Because "ultimately it's a competition",etc....agreed, BUT I doubt Laura would do as good if Tara went home...

I was happy with who got voted out last night. I know you guys may disagree, but I can't fight this soft spot I have for the brown team.

Jules

Forgot to ask...

what did you guys think of the challenge? If you were a contestant, would you have eaten all that crap just days before the weigh in?

I would have NOT

First I have to say that I don't watch this as much as you guys, but I see bits of it and no, I would not have eaten any of it, they are supposed to be there to lose weight and to become healthy. I wonder when the next season will start, I am guessing the fall- they had on the news about tryouts for the show, not sure if Jillian and Bob will be back or not, I heard they were not coming back, but that could be a contract ploy...or NBC wants to save money and have trainers that don't charge as much

Jules
04-08-2009, 05:07 AM
Exactly, Monica....and if they would have just stepped back and thought about it a minute...

I agree, winning the Only Vote would have been awesome, but you can only be voted out if you go below the yellow line. How do you avoid going below the yellow line? You DONT EAT THE CRAP THEY TEMPT YOU WITH!

MacBug
04-08-2009, 05:08 AM
I agree, I don't think I would have either. If I'd worked so hard like they have, I would've been better off if I didn't even start. Kristin is the only one, I think, who resisted. What shocked me, is that none of them GAINED last night after that binge. And Laura still lost. Although there was that suditorium stair climbing challenge, and she won that----AGAIN.

I don't know if the others were freaked out by the Tongan dance, or whatever that was, but I sure was! Didn't they make it look like they were all alone when they did that? Where the heck IS Tonga anyway? I was kind of thinking the South Pacific? They kind of looked like Hawaiians in a way.

Oh and yeah about Ron. That's what irritates me about him. He doesn't do well in the challenges, isn't contributing much, yet is always the first one to open his mouth about who should go home.

I don't know exactly how I feel about Helen. I didn't think much of her letting Shannon go home first. That's why I like the purple team better. Cathy at least put her daughter first.

Jules
04-08-2009, 05:36 AM

I was just watching last night's show again while eating lunch. Sione and Filippe were walking and talking with Kristen trying to get a feel for if she would vote them out or not. HUH? I thought Laura had the one and only vote for all of them! Why were they bugging Kristen about what she would do? She had no say in the matter this week.

And Ron, OMG!! He was outta control and was totally in the wrong for feeling they lied! Why in the heck did he think he had a right to intimidate that they would save him? Don't you catch flies with honey rather than vinegar? Would he have been less mad if the blue team would've come right out and said they would vote out who they wanted to & it might be Ron? That guy is NUTS!! Well I guess they were talking about what happened with last week's weigh in. Sometimes it's kind of confusing when they show bits of their conversations at different times.

While I realize that Ron should stay, I'm hoping he'll be going home soon. At least that's the way I feel about him now. I might change my mind next week.

I guess Kristen did start eating, but she quit early, so didn't consume near as many calories as the others. I was SHOCKED at Tara!!! She ate almost 5,000 calories in junk food! 5,000 CALORIES!!! I was half sick just thinking about it!

Thanks for clearing that up JUles. I mentioned in the next post that after I thought about it, I realized they were talking about a different time different circumstances. Well that's not what I said, lol, that's what MEANT to say.

Do you think MIkey would fall apart if they sent Ron home? I know he needs to be there probably more than anybody still there, but it's a good thing Ron's not dependent on MY vote, or he'd be going home soon as I had the chance. He's bugging me a lot lately.

I still get the Tongan boys mixed up. Was it Sione or Filippe who had the fit over having to go over to Jillian's team? Sione seemed more laid back and able to handle changes more than the other one, or do I mean Filippe? lol Isn't it Sione (the one with the beard) who usually came in 2nd in the challenges to Tara? And wasn't it Fillippe who blew a gasket that time? I sorta didn't blame him, when they showed Jillian outside talking to the others, and she hadn't given him any one on one training, but I still think he handled it wrong. But sometimes when I think something or someone is wrong toward me, I might blow up like that and feel like a fool later.

Jules

I dunno.....Mikey seems to be doing ok since the split...where he stayed with Jillian and Ron went with Bob...

He may....I dont know. Never thought about it. He might cry a little, but I think Anger would take over and he'd work just that much harder. For revenge.

Felipe is the one who threw a fit when Jillian didn't work him out. LOL, side note....his hair gets bigger every week. See his before/after shots at each weigh in,and you'll know what I mean.

And yes...Sione (with the beard) always comes in 2nd to Tara. I laugh everytime and chant "He got beat by a girl, he got beat by a girl".

I get a kick of Tara beating him too. LOL, I hate to say it, but Filipe reminds of those little voodoo dolls ( I know that's not the name for them), but you know those little dolls or rubber figurines that had wild hair that stood straight out and the belly was hanging out. They were cute because they were so funny looking. Dang I can picture them perfectly but can't remember what they were called. They sold a lot of them at one time when I worked at Oriental Trading Co. I think they were supposed to be good luck symbol more than voodoo doll.

So, I got home late - and missed all but the last 1/2 hour. I have questions that were NOT answered on FORT, and they are so mean over there about this show I"m not asking :)

What the heck happened to Laura and her hip? Carrying her up to the scale? And then she even thought about staying? No way. She had NO business being there -- Ron was right.

How did the makeovers go over? At the scale, I could only tell the guys and Laura -- Kristen looked a little different (same style, less skunkness) -- but the other girls looked the same!!!

Thanks in advance!

:)

She had a stress fracture of her hip, just overuse. She needs to be off it for approx. 3 months so they did the right thing by voting her off.

I thought the makeovers were amazing. I thought everyone looked terrific. Even though the women still weigh so much, imo, they all looked so much smaller in their cocktail dresses, really small.

Kristen looked so much better with the heavy streaking taken out and her hair darker and I thought Laura looked way better with darker hair as well.

Ron's son (can't think of his name, lol) looked fantastic and his brother broke down and openly sobbed when he saw his dad and brother. He's so upset because he's "the big one" now. They said they would help him lose the weight.

I thought Helen's husband looked a lot younger than her. Maybe he's not, but she seems so old to me.

All in all though, they looked great. Hair, makeup and clothing were all fantastic.

Of course I forgot about Idol and Dancing :(
I'm usually switching between all the shows. Sounds like Steve-O got the boot?

I don't know, I haven't watched it yet. I saw the first 15 min or so, but then hubby came home and I let him watch TAGS 'cause I record it. I think I can spare the time since I watch and back up, watch and back up, lol. There's always something I want to see again.

Anyway, what I saw was the challenge. They had to walk along a zip line and the fall would be 10 stories down. Of course they had all kinds of cables so they wouldn't fall all the way down, and wore helmets. Mike is scared of heights, so it was esp hard for him, but he did okay from what I saw. Ron barely got started, before he quit.

I will watch the show when it becomes available online. This is one of my favorite shows of the season -- I love to see the transformations. Some of them just didn't look much different at the weigh in!

Mike (Ron's son) does look amazing! He's turned into such a good looking kid! And he's such a good hearted kid! Ron still irritates me, but I LOVE that kid!! Anyone who raises a son like that I suppose should get a break here and there----and IMO he has (gotten the breaks)!

I was really liking Laura lately, since she talked Tara out of quitting a few wks ago. She proved she's a good friend who will go the extra mile when needed.

Kristen is still pretty big, but she's gotten so pretty! I've always liked her for some reason, and I still like her!

I felt bad for Laura, but they sent the right person home, and for once I agreed with Ron and most of all----his reasons for wanting to send her home.

This show is SO AMAZING what they do and how far they come in such short time! I'm so happy for every last one of them!

Oh and Helen and Filippe looked F A B U L O U S too! Filippe even made a joke about himself, saying he wouldn't even have to work out this week to lose weight, he'd lose 3 to 5 lbs in hair!

I thought Helen looked SO PRETTY! To me she looked kind of harsh or hard until last night! So feminine! I think Shannon is a really pretty girl!

Not sure if I like Ron without his beard. I think he looked better with hair covering his face. I suppose if I knew him personally, I could get used to it.

Biggest Loser Trainer Calls Players Half Dead

NEW YORK – Contestants on "The Biggest Loser" aren't just overweight. They suffer from being not normal and even half-dead.

That's according to Jillian Michaels, the buff, tough-talking trainer on the hit weight-loss show.

Michaels said she would never insult the plus-size players she is helping trim down. But sometimes they need an extra push to get the lead out.

"I push them really hard," the fitness guru said this week. "They are 400 ... pounds! Hello! They are not just going to get on the treadmill and run. It doesn't work that way."

The "Biggest Loser" contestants need special attention, and Michaels said her aim is to provide it.

"A normal person, I could be like 'OK, mama, jump up there. Warm up five minutes.' You'd be like, 'OK.'

"THESE people are half-dead. I mean, it's not the same."

Michaels marveled that anyone could misinterpret her training style.

"People are like, 'She's so mean to them.' And it's like, 'Really? Do you REALLY think so? Do you really watch the show?' ... Now if I was calling them names, that would be mean."

"The Biggest Loser" airs Tuesdays on NBC.

LOL, I have to admit, I thought she WAS mean too----until I got into the show. And that didn't take long either. Now it's easy to see why she's the BEST! Plus, you can see she really CARES for those people! They must feel it too. Otherwise, they wouldn't be so excited to tell her when they win a challenge. Now I like her better than Bob.

LOL, I hear ya on crybaby men, Jules. Some women think that makes them sensitive. I'm not saying they should never be emotional enough to cry (like for instance, over his new baby, seeing his wife and family for the first time after a tour to a war zone) just not over losing the team/trainer he'd gotten used to. Fillipe was not the only crybaby there.

Jules
04-17-2009, 05:13 AM
RIght...totally agree on the clarification. Some men are sensitive, meaning....they understand and respect women's feelings, and aren't afraid to cry when the moment is right...

Other men are CRY BABIES and cry over every little thing...

I just saw bits and pieces of it tonight so far. I also saw the beginning of the air challenge, then I went on my walk, came back and they'd already weighed Tara and I forget who else. From what I gathered, Tara won again. I heard Allie say that Tara really didn't need the extra pound advantage, so she must've had a good weigh in all on her own. I saw the rest of the weigh ins, who they eliminated, but I remembered I had to go feed son and DIL's cats while they're on vacation, so I had drive up there at 9 o'clock. I didn't see the "after" segment. I was hoping the other one would be sent home. It's not that I don't like her, I just wanted to see Kristen stay.

MacBug

Ooops I told who got eliminated. Sorry.

Jules
04-22-2009, 04:12 AM
The challenge was that they were in the air 45 feet off the ground. They had to stay there and hold a rope. Tara ended up winning, and at the end it was down to her and Helen. Helen was trying to bribe Tara, saying, if you let me win, I'll split the money with you. Tara said no, smiled her little smile and kept holding on. Helen said, "Doesn't anything get to you?"

The prize was either $10,000 or a one pound advantage at this weeks weigh in. Tara chose the money, because she was confident in her weight loss for the week.

Loved the talk between Ron and Mike. Good for Mike (the little hottie) for telling his dad about his anger issues, and good for Ron for taking it like a man.

Kristen was being a sore loser at the end. Telling Mike "you took the easy way out" , etc. DUH! It's a competition! Eliminate your threats so you can cruise right on to victory. I would have done the same thing.

And yes, Kristen looked FABULOUS. Love her hair the darker shade.

Did ya'll see Jillian jump all over Tara's ass about being selfish by wanting Laura to be the one who stayed last week? Fell in love with Jillian all over again last night after that.

MacBug
04-22-2009, 07:44 AM
Yeah I just watched last night's show. I agree with all you said Jules! Great recap of it all!

I loved what JIllian had to say to Tara too. I was really liking her (Tara), but Jillian was right on about Tara. She's turned into a whiner. I think she got used to Laura building her up and spurring her on. If she can't continue to win w/o Laura's encouragement, she doesn't deserve to stay. Laura has a tougher row to hoe now than she does, and I didn't see HER crying about it! After Tara's bawling jag last night, I'm not rooting for her anymore.

I was REALLY annoyed Ron----he was getting on my nerves---until just last night after Mike's talk with his dad and that he was able to finally air out all his frustration, and Ron accepted the blame. Another move I give Jillian credit for!! She encouraged Mike to approach his father about all his pent up anger! I DEFINITELY see him in a more positive light. I might be surprised, but I see either Mike or Ron winning now. I REALLY hope they show something about how/whether Mike and Ron are able to get Max to lose weight now when they get home.

I always thought Kristen was a good sport/competitor until last night. I don't blame Mike for voting against her. Besides it was only fair that she go home, since she had a + percent weight loss. It might've been questioned if they had sent Helen home. She DID lose, even if only one pound. Well it wouldn't have been questioned, they have a right to vote for who they want. Mike could've saved Kristen, but she actually eliminated herself by gaining, even if it were only 1 lb. She must've sabotaged herself by not getting the right kind of calories for the exercise she was doing.

Speaking of exercise, I wanna go do mine now. This show gets me all revved up and positive! And that is a GOOD feeling!

How is it finally decided who wins it all? Total percentage of weight loss? I think they're really all winners, regardless of who wins the money.

Jules
04-22-2009, 07:49 AM
Total percentage of weight loss determines the actual winner, not the amount of pounds lost.

For instance, Helen is smaller than Kristin. If they both lose exactly 10 pounds, Helen will have a larger percentage lost because she is smaller to begin with....

MacBug
04-22-2009, 12:49 PM
OK thanks Jules! I was really confused about the percentage loss at first. Do they have a male and female winner? It seemed to me at the weigh ins, Allie would tell the men they needed to lose (ex: more than 4 lbs to stay above the yellow line, but the women would only need to lose more than say 2. Of course the men seemed able to lose like 12 lbs lbs on a good week, when the women were only losing maybe 5 or 6 lbs on a good week. I didn't start watching until they were more in the middle of this season, so don't know how much they were losing in the first weeks.

Monica is right. It's whoever has the highest percentage of weight loss. It goes back to my example of Helen and Kristin. Each could lose 10 pounds, but since Helen is smaller, she'd get the higher percentage.

Thanks!

So, they finally posted last week's show. Evidently, they do it a week later.

There are bonus scenes from the show. Apparently, they had an awards dinner after the "screening". If you love this show, you should watch the awards. :)

Q: How many weeks is their weight challenge ? (duration)

Well, they are in week 16 on the show (this past Tuesday) -- with 2 more shows until the live finale (I think that's right). I'm not totally sure how long they are home between the ranch and the finale, but I think it's a couple of months.

How's that for an "iffy" answer? LOL

Good enough explanation for me.

I thought it had to be at least 12 weeks or greater in order to loose the amount of pounds they seem to be losing.

I'm so proud of Mikey...he's lost (so far) 145 pounds! That's more than I weigh!

He's lost more than a whole person!

It's Biggest Loser Tuesday.

Tonight (I believe) is the last episode before the finale. Tonight they will get down to the final four before they are all sent home for 30 days. Then they come back and the next episode will be the Finale!!

Anyone going to watch? Tonight is an important episode!

Well, I just boo hooed my way through that show.

I do want to figure this out -- they are home for 30 days, but then come back (next week's show) to weigh in one final time prior to the finale, right? so the finale is actually in 2 weeks?

In previous seasons the total time for them to lose weight on and off campus would be around 8 months. I am not really watching that much this season so I am not sure if the length of time is the same. This was filmed last year- the finale is May 12th.

They were on campus longer this time than usual, so that's why I wasn't quite sure. I am thinking they said they have a weigh in prior to the finale, but was flipping between DWTS and this, and may have missed something. I guess I'll see if it's on next week :)

Thanks, Monica.

OMG i did cry, too....it was SO emotional.....

And I wasn't surprised that Tara won, again....and glad she chose the one pound advantage...looked like she would need it. The weight loss this week was phenomenal!

Glad Mikey got the $10,000 though. That will surely help a college kid out. : )

I believe they weigh in ONE final time before they go home for 30 days, and then they come back and weigh in at the Finale.
