Appraiser is Shawn's sister

What does that mean? Is she doing her job the way it should be done OR is she leaning on the JTV side??? I have looked at some of the appraisals; some less than twice what you pay, but try to get even twice what you pay, I imagine it is like a car, but it for X Dollars and drive it off the lot and immediately it is down a thousand. So does that mean a gemstone is worth less than half of what you pay for it?

That costs more dollars to have something appraised, who gets that? JTV or the appraiser.

Seems they are appraising more and more things now too. I watch the FAULT stuff and do not see new things there, tanzanite? I have seen things returned there as I would watch a certain stone that looked pretty. Gone for a few weeks and then back. One thing there was the turtle that has opals in it, costs a fortune, I thought it was awful, but it did disappear and eventually was back, did say sold, so I imagine it was sold and buyer did NOT like it?

That's because when they do a taped show, (which they do A LOT of), they say that it's sold out to generate excitement.

The reason you see it again is because it never sold in the first place.

Turtle was from the FAULT and I know it WAS sold and that was LONG ago. No, I did not buy it, I think it is awful looking and I don't collect things like that. What I am saying is LONG before they were doing reruns of shows. Before layoffs began. Long, Long Ago.

AND the rerunning of the Scott & Avi show from yesterday (or before?), I turned it on & left and went back, all of a sudden there was another two women on? One said oh, it is almost 12 o'clock. They were showing gems, so they cut off Scott/Avi & put someone else there. Said it was DAWN's show, she was never there, rerunning or not. AND, if you watch the net, what they show is not necessarily what they are talking about. Whole site/show is a HUGE mess, going downhill faster than a speeding bullet.

assuming the info you have is true. There's an OBVIOUS conflict of interest.
Anyone who has an appraisal from said source has an appraisal that is questionable.
People who signed up for appraisals and have been provided appraisals from this source and this wasn;t disclosed to them imho have a basis IMHO to have their money returned. and or having their purchase appraised by someone without a conflict of interest at JTV expense

As far as the stuff that seems sold and disappeared, I believe that sometimes people just put stuff in their carts and leave it there for a while and it appears sold but isn't. Or they do follow through and their credit card comes back bad or whatever. and yeah some of the stuff gets returned too.

I was called because of the price of that gem and was asked if I HAD ordered it & then was offered an appraisal for free, rather than pay $50, sure, I said, the person told me it would be sent to PA, think it is, and the appraiser who has a business there is Shawn's sister. She is at JTV often appraising stuff, many things now have appraisals. I just listened, probably should not have been told as much as I was and should keep my trap shut too. Names are different, but she is probably married or using a different last name, that I do not know, but I have the appraisal of that stone here. I imagine they have her on a retainer if she is in there often and that $50 one can pay, is pocketed by JTV? Don't remember who it was that called me, but probably because of the price, well, he said that when he called to be sure as I had only ordered a few things and nothing near that price.

I always felt that things should be worth more than twice what they are selling for and enjoy looking at the appraisals they have there, in the FAULT.

As for the turtle, it was gone for quite a while, and then back. Still say, a very expensive doorstop :)

I have had appraisals as well by them... But she told me herself that she was Sean's sister and that she gets paid the $50.00. I called her several times concerning the labordarite after they sent me the information concerning the lawsuit... it took her many days to call me back but she did and she said that she will stand by her appraisal. She said that the problem was that they did not disclose that the stone was treated. The green (I think she appraised 3 of them for me and 1 red (which was set in a ring) was appraised by her. She also told me that Sean's son had a tumor on his brain and that was why Sean has been staying home. I like Sean but he does not give alot of information concerning the stones so I can't watch him. Dawn is beginning to get on my nerve and so is Scott and Avi and I think that is because they are on all the time!... They really need to reconsider and call Cheryl and Nicole back... They had 2 other people on the other night that did not even know anything about gemstones... they did jewerly... but I guess they are wearing out Dawn and Scott so they had to put on someone!... I only watch now like I said to hear about the stones... But this tanzanite is really getting on my nerve!... Is that all they have now... Or maybe they are trying to clean out there FAULT to get money because I also remember them putting up tanzanite as well. Maybe they need the money now! But again who has that type of money?... Sistah, good to hear that! Seems to me that Shawn or someone said he came from a family of gem dealers for decades, his father and maybe grandfather? Makes sense that his sister would want to do something as well in Gem business. I am glad to hear that she DOES get the $50 and it does not go into the pockets of JTV, though companies do have people on consignment yearly (lawyers:) so would not be a terrible thing if that is how they do it too.

I heard about the brain tumor and lately, Shawn has not looked well, he is a bit gaunt looking to me, hope his son is doing OK.

I KNOW what you mean about the tanzanites, for months they had none at all, so they said, but if you typed in tanzanite in search could find a bunch of them. Now, whole shows are almost all tanzanites because, they say, J made a great buy on them, J, himself said that. But the rerunning of same shows showing sold out stones AGAIN, huh? Hey, if you find someone with monies to buy that kind of stuff, see if he has a friend:)

I would love to see Nicole back, not Cheryl, she drove me nuts, liked Nicole as she seemed to really know of what she spoke, having been a buyer, a gemologist, I remember Scott introducing her for the first time she was on the show that he had talked her into going on camera.

Dawn cannot keep her mouth shut, she goes on and on and on, 'have a special something, but cannot tel you now' she will say and then go on and on about it or let music play forever while she is maybe 'out and about?'

I just looked at the nashville news and someone posted that JTV has a JET for sale, want to buy that? They (DAWN) keeps saying we are the biggest buyers, we have millions, but think the customer base is LONG gone. Layoffs galore, Tommy & someone are due up shortly, but I thought he said he would not be back until Sunday, so is it another replay?

Then there is skip, who is a buyer or owner or something, hair dye is pretty bad, I would NOT buy it!

I sincerely hope that Sean's son makes it through OK. There's nothing worse than losing a child. Sean does look a bit thin, but, no one should have to lose weight that way.

Anyway, I can't even imagine spending thousands of dollars on gemstones or even jewelry that you can't hold in your hand and look at. A few hundred dollars, perhaps, knowing that it can be returned, but thousands, no. If I had that kind of money, I'd go to a reputable dealer and work with him/her. You can always get a better price.

The only things that I've bought from JTV, HSN, QVC, or ShopNBC, have been small items or small parcels. Then, if I'm stuck, I'm stuck. They all offer 30 day money back guarantees, which is helpful, but a hassle.

That was the BEST place to buy something, $4.99 is now $6.99 and 2nd item rather than $2.99 went up too. I cannot disagree with that as USPS as well as other shippers have increased things too. That was the one thing that did not go up in price forever. I check things out, almost buy, in cart and then I close the browser, wake up in a.m. and glad I did NOT buy anything:) Well, the two parcels I did order of the 'Vendors ooops' cabs/facets, BET I shall send them both back, but had to see and why 2? - I don't know.

Well if they are I hope JTV is listening!... Mandy is on now talking about jewerly... she looks good but she always did... I like Mandy sometimes... Hey Someone on another thread mentioned Casey... When she 1st started she use to wear those big glasses that sled off her face I use to laugh when she would push them up... then she got contacts and made her up she was so pretty! Sistah, wow, that is so weird. Told you I think someone is watching these threads or sending to someone there. I did not see that one, only the other day when she and Shawn were talking about getting tickets for speeding, on and on and on. I suppose that would be ok for a talk show,but not for a show supposed to be selling things! I remember years ago there was a show on all night long and was sponsored live by a car company, some guy with a dog, I would wake up or stay up? Guy got drunker and drunker as the night wore on. I cannot imagine that Shawn would not be home with his family at 10 p.m. Now, they could film shows at any time and show them at any time too. If I was in charge there, that is exactly what I would do and be able to let almost everyone go, a 12 hour day for everyone, except operators; ahhh, but I am not in 'the loop' and do NOT want to be.

I find it fascinating that Scott is rarely on now, he used to be on just about every day, maybe he is next to go?

Did Dawn go on about the MILLIONS of dollars they have to buy stones? Why would they do that when people are not able to buy as they used to? I remember when she or they would say 'our buyers carry CASH with them to be able to buy things on the spot' That was long ago.

IF they are watching the threads here and other places? I think they can get rid of the BIG BOYs and use OUR ideas:)
