View Full Version : No Photos of new Tanzanite either?

Seems what they show now is not on website, unless it has a quantity; to me means it is old stuff they had, when they do that.
I saw a gorgeous Emerald cut about 9 kts or so other day, just beautiful. You go to look at it and NO photo, but it is a ONE of a kind, so they say.
I think they are in big trouble; too many stones bought for big prices and now dropping those down too. Whole shows of gems is just about, almost, of tanzanite. The couple that I looked at that had a photo, looked awful AND, there were at least 10 of 'that oval' or 'round' I looked at the emerald cut page and there are very few there, less than a page, one picture, I think was all and it was VERY light. Rest were shaped like a drawing of a marquise cut and that was it. I did not check to see how many, did NOT see the one I had seen on air for, what was it? 6kt, I was going to reach into my pocket and pull out that amount! Because, s/h is free, so I would save a few bucks. Unfortunately, was short a few cents or was it sense?
To take a 5kt to someone that you got appraised for over 13kt and they offered $750 for it? OMG that is sick. Tiffanys is not selling them now, people are getting sick of colored stones, I think and Tiffanys was always where you went (if you could) to get THE best diamonds, not the SI-1 or 2 that JTV is selling, no way would I want that, but then, cannot even afford those:) I would call a few jewelers in your town and even outside in a big city and see what they would charge you for a 5kt stone of top quality? Ask if they are selling them a lot. Gold is way up, maybe the person who wanted to give you $750 was trying for a better deal?
Dawn said something about they are digging down a lot of feet now and getting poor or included stones. Not sure I believe anything they have to say and do NOT need any gems anymore. Wish I could sell the few I have, but afraid would not get what I paid for them, the appraisal I got on the one is cost to replace and not to sell it. Just like 'drive a new car off the lot (think I said that before) and immediately drops about a thousand or more dollars.:(
But for JTV to have MOST gems shows have at least an hour if not two of 'new stones' bought at the last show for very little, is a little strange to me. Sounds to me that the price of tanzanite has dropped significantly as have other goods all over the world. If one has the time to wait years until they go up again, great, many do not. We never know when our time is up; but I am ready to go at any time as money/jobs/everything is NOT good. Worried about losing my job, social security is broke, medicare is broke. Not sure I could live in a tent, locks are NOT good on a tent:) AND, cannot afford either.
Wish I had money to buy gold or silver even, that is still a lot lower. bit do not, if I want to eat.

I am keeping my gemstones... even the little tanzanites that I do have... .75ctw or .50ctw my saphires and emeralds... Things are not going to be this way always... and now will only get the stones that I like ... Robinzegg was right buy what you like now... not what is fashionable because you never know... I don't see us coming out of this soon especially not this year anyway!... I'm sure you bought your 5. ctw because you liked it and not to resell so hold on... Things will change!... But if you bought pariba.... see how much that will bring you back and if you have any burma rubies... because they are not exporting those anymore... there is a hold on Burma's ...

This doesn't have anything to do with tanzanite, but i just looking at the jtv website, and noticed many items had no pictures with the descriptions. (are these new items? and with the downsizing, no one to take the pictures anymore?) I ordered alot from the website over the last few years, it was just easier, and i wasn't watching the channel all day long like i was in the beginning, so the web pics were an asset....

Lucille, if you can see the photos on the web and then see what is shown on (as they always had, almost) the net, washed out stuff. IF I wanted something I wanted the 'one of a kind' they were showing, hopefully, that would be the one I got. Now just laugh at what they show. I always look at the 'so called details' to see if there are 10 (as high as list goes) I am out of there. No description, where from? AND those that do have picture and appraisal, appraisal had better be more than 2 1/2 times to rebuy same item(s). They show a 'cherry picked' stone by the producer or themselves, the BEST, that is not what you are going to get, in most cases. I cannot wait to see the vendors blowout I got JUST to see IF there is anything in there (not that I will recognize things) they showed on the show. They have NO parcels left, omg, we have just been given a NEW parcel and so cheap. They talk about (Dawn did) how they used to sell semi precious stones in the parcels, I do NOT remember them ever saying that, always 'the best gems' in the parcels.
Anyone buy their plane yet? As posted in the knoxville news?

I remember calling the call center to ask if I could have the parcel on tv... they said no they could not guarentee that... I laughed ... because I'm sure I was not the only person asking that question... they showed the best columbian emerald and pariba tourmaline in that parcel... getting back to showing pictures... that might be a clue that people have been complaining that the stone they have is not what was pictured as wll and don't want another lawsuit on their hands because they can't afford it... They still have to refund peoples money for the red and green labadorite they sold as natural... That might be the new/old CEO's decisiion... they need to save money as well... I thought I read that the CEO used that plan to go back and forth to his home... and it was posted on the knoxsville blog that they needed to sell it instead of laying off people?!... yes someone is reading something!... and GOOD! I gave JTV alot of my hard earned money for gemstones that I am reading is not even worth it!... So maybe there will be changes!

Don't let this board die with JTV's spam attempts to drown it. Keep posting.

this used to happen a lot over the years.
sometimes the stone was just not capable of being photographed other times, they had just got it in and only managed to get the description in and not yet photo'd.
today with less staff it is bound to happen really often
