I was wondering if anyone met anyone famous before?
I met a hockey Player Brett Sterling. I was so nervous but I didn't tongue tied like a stupid girl would with a crush. But he was sweet I told him I wanted to be a hockey player and he told me good luck with it.
I also wrote to Daniel Radcliffe a few years back and got an autograph from him. And they are hanging on my wall write next to each other.
*Sigh I wish I could meet Daniel Radcliffe in person though. I was dying to get see Equs just to meet him but never got too. OH well.
Anyway have their stories of meeting celebs?

Very cool that you are helping her- and is she ready for the interview? I could give a list of don'ts that I have seen, there are some doozies, you would think it would be common sense, but not everyone has it. Good luck to your friend.

The only autographs that I have ever gotten was from soap stars, I used to go to Super Soap Weekend and I had autographs from Cameron Matthison, Sucan Lucci, Michael Knight, etc...but I have since thrown them all away- when I was on a cleaning mission I decided that I really did not need to keep hanging on to them.

I met Rob Zombie, July 12, 2006. He had me hold onto his leg at a concert (I was front row...and one of only two girls front row, the other was my bff) so he wouldn't fall off the guard rail.
I held onto that man's leg for DEAR LIFE....and omg...he's so tiny....he thanked me, winked at me, and squeezed my hand....

I have met alot of famous people....i never mustered up to ask for autographs before because they get that all the time...
however i have been close for years with the Irwins...I even talked to them...when my oldest was younger since she was a big fan of them...they did give both my girls a picture of their family with autographs...
and I have a steve wilkos picture autograph...whoopi on him...blech...
wish though now i would of got the nerve to ask for autographs especially penny marshell...and the cast who played on mash...
also the two movies i was in...when i met river pheonix and lou diamon phillips i never asked them because i was with them for two weeks...and the old fisherman who played in jaws...
and the guy who played in treck...the captian with the beard...whatever his name is...i forget...
oh well...i just didnt feel right asking them because we did have some kind of friendship going on...a friend asking a friend for an autograph...kind of weird...

I never ask for autographs but love to take their pictures. I'd so much rather have a photo of the person than a signature. You already know most of my celeb sighting stories!
I think my favorite was Jeff Probst at JFK Airport because he was so thoughtful to remind me that I should be in the picture too, rather than just taking a pic of Julie and him. So there I am in between them, looking rather dorky, at the JFK baggage carousel.
Oh, also I have a photo of me with Sanjaya from American Idol, we ran into him in line at the Bill Clinton book signing here in Seattle, he was beyond gracious and fun with the people who recognized him, extremely good-looking in person and seemed very zen-like and comfortable in his own skin. VERY mature for his age!
Hugh Grant seemed a bit annoyed with me but did turn and smile.
The stars I've photographed as they sign autographs and shake hands at the stage door on Broadway have usually been gracious, but they are there for the very purpose of meeting fans. David Schwimmer may be an exception, although he may have been having a bad day, hard to really know.
Looking forward to more celeb spotting in NYC this time!

I personally don't have one from Rosie O'Donnell, but she gave my Grandaughter one when we were at her show. She also gave her a Rosie denim jacket, a couple of koosh balls, and one of the dolls of herself. She was gracious and so pleasant and I will never forget her kindness to Deidre. I was a little awestruck and just stood there like a dork with my camera in my hand. She said to me "Grandma, did you want a picture of Deidre and me"?
Duh, did I???? Of course. I sent back a copy of the picture enlarged to 8x10 and she wrote a beautiful note on it and sent it back to Deidre.

Arthur was so cool though... he came up to Chase patted him on the head and asked him if he was having a good time. Of course Chase being the money man he is..... thought it was SO cool the owner of the team talked to him. lol

LOL Irish, "met" Hugh Grant is a bit of a stretch.....I wish!
I was loitering around outside his trailer last time I was in NYC, wasn't sure if he was in there, and he came out and walked to a waiting car which I guess was going to take him to the set. I called his name a couple times as I was following him, he finally looked over and I asked, "Would you mind if I took your picture?," he gave me his famous grin and luckily I was ready to snap, because I don't think he'd have been sympathetic to a camera malfunction at that moment!
Haha, that reminds me that one time I had my photo taken with Gelman when I visited the show for the first time, I think he actually knew how to use my camera better than I did! You know how Regis always accuses Gelman of being a know-it-all? Guess it's true!

I have been around Nancy Grace a few times but no autographs.
I'm not knocking anybody who has them but autographs to me are just trash and pictures with celebs feel like they would be meaningless. Much prefer them with people who would actually remember the moment. Maybe an exception would be a president or somebody really important like that.

Mike, Basically I agree with you. I myself would never ask for one or to have my picture taken with anyone like that, but Rosie did this for a 12 year-old handicapped kid and it gave her the thrill of her life. She still treasurers it to this day.
I don't think I would even ask for a President. To me we are all human beings and are all priceless in God's eyes and our family's eyes. What is more important than that?
They have been making a big deal out of Michelle Obama hugging the Queen. Supposedly no one is to touch her except for a very quick handshake. Come on, what makes her any different than any of us?? If you go back in history the ? royals were not good people. My theory is that "When they go to the bathroom their shit stinks just like mine".
Scoops
04-04-2009, 08:16 AM
I saw that stuff about the Queen. Michelle was fine because the Queen touched her first....then supposedly it's ok....I agree with you about formalities with royalty being stupid...I think it's more about respecting the culture and customs of a country than actually respecting the person. Like taking your shoes off in a Japanese home....some may not agree, but When in Rome as they say.

Well I never asked for the autographs.
I just sort of got them LOL
Brett Sterling was a library here and talking about Hockey then at the end he was signing autogrpahs. But I did get one for my sis.
Chris Cagel was at Walmart a long with Gutair Gavin they just gave us theirs.
I didn't get Jodi Mosina's though. But I did shake her hand and I think Phil Vasser's I am not sure. LOL
I am still dying to meet Lurelen Mcdaniel and Nora Roberts.
I also have a gay author friend I mean that with no disrepsect I just mean that he wrties fantasy and writes about gay men. He's really sweet he sent me a book for free and autographed.
So basically the only person I really did have a convo with if you can call that is Bret Sterling. LOL

My nephew got Art Linkletter's autograph, actually...we were at Fairmont Hot Springs and stepped into the elevator and Art was there...Mark (about 8) was so excited!lol
I did ask Sebastian Cabot for his, I was 9 or 10 and a big fan of "Family Affair"...he was a total snob and begrudgingly signed my napkin.
George Montgomery was a total perve. My parents had a room at a big western art show in Spokane (selling/dealing). I was 13 and George hung around a lot and was pretty touchy/feely (if you know what I mean)lol
Probably my favorite 'sighting', though, was Frank Marino of Mahogany Rush...we were walking down a hall at the auditorium (heading for the bathroom), and Frank and some other people were walking the other way - I didn't notice him, but everyone I was with said "That was Frank Marino!! Man, he looked you over!" Pretty funny - my head about snapped off my neck looking back!Lol

We live very near the Baseball Hall of Fame and every year when they have the induction's many, many of the Major League players are there. I get so angry at them. They are all millionaires and they set up their little tables and charge anywhere from $25.00 to $100.00 for an autograph. How many star-struck kids can afford that??
Back in the old days they used to give out autographed balls for nothing. The kids could go to the hotal that they all stay in and talk to them, get autographs, get throwing and catching lessons, but the stars of today are much to greedy to do any of that.

They also had Lee Ann Rimes on. They had her working in a small diner as a gum chewing lousy uninterested waitress.
When customers started complaining about the lousy lack of service she would apologize and tell them she was just biding her time until Nashville discovers her.
She would belt out some tunes/songs as she fuddled duddled the breakfast orders.
Some tables told her she had the looks and voice to make it as a Country performer.
One lady told her that she was a ringer for a Country Star but couldn't remember her name. Something like LeeAnnRHimes or so.
