Julianne Hough auditions for 'Footloose'

Just in: Julianne Hough, the cutie-pie pro who has twice won ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, auditioned this week for the remake of Footloose, which will star Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford. Her brother Derek has been in talks for the film, too.

Hough told USA WEEKEND’s Who’s News Blog that she’s been reading scripts for acting roles for the last couple of years, but this is the first movie she’s auditioned for. “The experience in itself was incredible,” said Hough, 20. “Chase is a really cool dude and we got along great. It was just fun. I don’t know what will happen, but just getting this far is really, really cool.” Hough’s audition consisted of a couple of songs from the original movie, but her favorite? “I don’t think that anybody can deny that Almost Paradise is one of the best songs out there.”

Now, she says, all she can do is wait for the phone to ring.

I would love to see both of them get parts in that one... They always leave me smiling.

If she can act, she is the whole package, lol... Though, apparently that skill set isn't so important anymore... On set acting lessons seems to be becoming the norm, much to the chagrin of the trained actors, I'm sure...

I'm not sure I have seen the original, but I LOVE the title song and watching couples dancing to it...

I agree about the Houghs. Holy cow, are they talented!

You really don't see anybody out there today that can do it all, sing, dance, act. Old Hollywood was filled with actresses that could 'do it all' but today's famous seem to be limited to "big shiny ones" and a face that even their mothers' wouldn't recognize, lol.

Someone I know went to a concert last week (don't know who did the concert) and Julianne opened for them. She said that Julianne was phenomenal in her performance and had the crowd on their feet the entire time.
