I am new to this board but have loved and collected gems since childhood. I found JTV when it was ACN and fun to watch. I was disabled in a car accident with a drunk driver and was unable to go back to nursing so I am currently an AJP and at the end of my GG course from the GIA. I was dumb enough to think that working at JTV would be a dream come true after seeing Cheryl and Nicole in action...and now I know what is really going on and it makes me very sad. Was it ever really good or have we all been fooled the whole time?? Cheryl and Nicole, you were the best they had and they threw you away.Dawn has gotton annoying and after learning about Scott I can't watch him anymore. Sherree needs speech therapy, and I find myself wondering if my decision to go into this industry was a mistake. Maybe it should have remained a hobby.

You call worrying about going into an industry where these things seem to be common practice spam? My post was sincere and I am sorry that there are people on this board who don't have feelings for others. A lot of these former employees, not to mention consumers who buy the new lesser quality but great price merchandise are being hurt by what is going on at JTV. I'm new to this sort of thing so maybe I just don't have a clue how it works....I thought you wrote what you were thinking! I didn't expect to be insulted.

Gemgeek, I think "spammers are losers" was just bumping your post up, to push down all of the SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM and spam posts down. I really don't think it was anything negative toward your post! This board is pretty slow these days ... give it a few days, others may come in and post with you!
Thanks for posting your story about how you found ACN/JTV! I've been watching for about 7 or 8 years now too (I think they were just transitioning from ACN to JTV). I loved some of the older hosts (Jennifer, Angie, Cheryl and Nichole). We've had lots of threads about hosts ... we even had Misty and Nichole here posting with us. Misty and Scott mentioned a couple of us by name on air once too ... we were being pretty snarky at the time, and I think it was their way of saying "we hear you".
Misty posted as Faknbake (or something like that). There was also someone with the screen name of Kilo, who also worked at JTV or was a close friend of Misty's. Read some of our older threads ... they were pretty fun!
Welcome to the board!

Thanks for the welcome. I was beginning to think I was in the wrong place. I saw Nicole's posts. Sad that they let the best go and kept the rest.

GemGeek I was also getting excited about gemstones with Cheryl, Nicole, Dawn, Tommy, and even Scott... then after I received my information on line about the green andesine... Oh man my heart was broke and I stopped paying attention... I don't even buy stones anymore!... the other sad part is I don't even look at the stones that I have bought from them... I still love pearls though :-)... I try and get them from thrift stores because people give them away!... You can never go wrong with pearls.... LOL

Welcome! Let me know what you find!... And you could always send it to GemGeek... for appraisal...;-)

I can't appraise gems yet, I'm still trying to get through the GG course, and it's not easy when you do it at home. I agree though that it's pretty easy to find pearls at yard sales and thrift stores because people think they are costume jewelry. All you have to do is rub the pearl on the edge of your front tooth. If it feels smooth, it's fake. If it feels gritty and rough, you found real pearls that you can probably get for next to nothing! I've done it a few times and have some really nice strands.
