Well hello to all.

A member of this board (24 Karat), sent me an email with the contents of a post on this forum. At first, I was really taken aback. I mean, no one likes to feel that they are that offensive to someone, but I guess I asked for it since I am always asking for feedback from customers, on the air.

You have to have really thick skin to be on air because you are putting yourself out in front of millions of people and there is bound to be someone out there that doesn't like you no matter what you do.

When I worked at JTV, we were given the option to have our emails screened of any negative comments. This was because many hosts cannot take any kind of criticism, constructive or otherwise. It can throw some people off their game. Here's the real kicker though; The very criticism that ONE person has or doesn't like about a host, can be the very thing that makes that host the company's top seller. A host could change to accomodate ONE customer, and loose the hundreds, (if not thousands), of others that liked that very thing about them. So you see, sometimes it's a "no win" scenario. It all boils down to; if people respond to your shows and like making their purchases from you, that's all that matters. I have been Blessed with wonderful customers that I feel are like friends. Thank you for all your kind and supportive emails...you know how you are.

Sine I mentioned JTV, let me just say as Cheryl did, that I will not divulge any private information, nor will I use this forum to trash JTV. From the day I was released, I never looked back. I turned that page of my life, and was thankful for the experience. I read the other blogs out there, and I know that alot of people are hurt...and still hurting.

I can tell you this, it is only my Faith in God, and a personal relationship with Him that has hepled me through. I'm not going to say that I've always been the perfect Christian, (I've done some really bone-headed things and the mistakes I've made have been whoppers that didn't just hurt me), but I am thankful every day for God's grace. Lord knows, I need it!

Getting back to forum at hand, Perry's is growing, even in this economy. In fact, I have been told PERSONALLY by two different top ranking executives with two different top jewelry home shopping companies, that we are only one of a couple that ARE growing. That is a big deal, since this is traditionally the slowest time of year.

This success is a problem for some, and not just other shopping channels. Suffice it to say that when change occours, that change is not welcome to some, and can have an unsatisfactory outcome for others. I was the first person to be hired at Perrys, (by Mr. Perry personally), that represented that change. I have not, nor will I be the last. You've seen Nicole, and heard the news about Cheryl. Although I have had nothing to do with any decisions made by Perrys, I am the visible face, (or target, if you will) of that change and so, apparently, I get the blame.

I agree with the other poster, that while the comments made by acnjtv1 and bluezirc may have been criticisms, they were in no way constructive and had a suspiciously vicious tone to them. I shared the postings on this board with some of the staff and others that worked with GemCountry at one time, and they feel confident that they know who these people are, and that they were part of that change. It serves no purpose to mention there names here. I will allow them to keep their anonymity, which is the reason why most people here use a pseudonym. Besides, they would only deny it anyway.

In the TV business they say that; "There is no such thing as bad press", and I feel that this is certainly true here as well. We welcomed more new customers last night at Perrys, and I feel that is partly due to all the dust up that apparently was happening here. So, to that, bluezirc, I say thank you! By trying to tear me down, and by association Perrys, you only helped us grow. By the way, still no email from you. I feel that if your intentions were honest and sincere, you would have contacted me with those suggestions instead of blasting me here, as another poster wrote.

I cannot answer all of the criticisms, there are really too many, but I can say that I will do my best in the future. You said that I use big words, however, I had to look "malapropisms" up on the internet. There is a reason for some of the things we do, such as the shouting. It's because the call center people are ten feet from us and with all of the commotion going on and call center personnel shouting out requests, sometimes it's hard for Ginger and I to hear ourselves talk. Also, sorry about the "giggling". I am just a naturally happy person and I love to laugh. Provrebs 17:22 says; "A merry heard does good like a medecine", but perhaps the real reason I laugh lies in Genesis 21:6 "God has made me laugh, so that all who hear will laugh with me."

I will end on that note......except for this shameless plug.....

We ave a contest going on right now at Perry's Estate Jewelry where you can send an email to (contest@perrysestatejewelry.net) and have a chance to win a $100.00 gift credit to use on the show! Send us your name and contact info and how you watch us, (Dish or internet), and you will be entered. We have a drawing every show! You don't have to make a purchase to enter, or have to be registered! However if you DO register as a new customer, you will instantly receive a $25.00 gift credit!!! Plus, we have free shipping on all orders totaling over $500.00, AND (and it's a big "and"...sorry, couldn't resist) if you go to Facebook and find Perrys Estate Jewelry, there something special waiting for you there, as well!!!

Welcome to the boards, Chris. I enjoyed your work on JTV and wondered why they never let you have your own shows. I'm glad you are doing well and seem to be happy where you are. I wish you the best :o)

Chris,
If you really want feedback listen to this. I've heard you say several times "I talk for a living" but you also model product with your hands for a living. Just as you try to speak well and clearly, try to think the same way about your hands. Loose the Harley mechanic grime.

Blue ...this is just a suggestion and you do what you want cuz your grown... however, you may not want too! I'm sure Chris has read every negative suggestion you have given to him... and had you said it a little better I'm sure he would have taken you up on it... Right now he probably is overlooking whatever you have to say because of all of the negative responses... I must say I have no idea what you are speaking on because I have not seen Chris on his new show... But I do know when he was on JTV his hands were well manicured... all of the men did... maybe every once in a while Tommy forgot... But he is the manly manly on JTV ... Right now Chris is the only host responding... Could we not be a little more polite with suggestions... Please?!

bluezirc, if you really wanted to give me feedback, you would send me an email to (chris@perrysestatejewelry.net) instead of posting it here. It is obvious that your posts have a malicious intent. I am truely sorry for whatever has caused you to feel toward me the way you do.

Most of the members here have only posted something about a host, after diligently sending those hosts emails, without ever receiving a response. Not the case here. Still no email from you.

However, I will still try to answer your concern as best I can. That was not grease you were seeing, it was black sharpie where we were marking prices on the tags right before the show began. Unlike the hosts at other networks.....we help build our own turntables. Then again, it might have been the black polish that came off the silver polishing cloth that I used during the show because we had a request to see some of our silverware. It happens alot since we don't have someone to stand there and polish it for us and we can't run off the set to wash our hands. Sorry about that.

Of course there's this from another post:

QUOTING FROM POSTER: GemGeek:

As for the hands that show it, it is the jewelry we are buying, not the hands....if someone has another job or hobby or whatever that takes a toll on beautiful perfect well manicured hands, I say who cares! At least he has a life!!! Perfection is hard to maintain....I look at the fingers that are typing this post and I just SIGH!!

Thank you, GemGeek.

For the record: I am not a Harley mechanic.

Welcome Chris Cooper, and any other Perry's hosts/vendors/executives. I don't have satellite, so until you are on regular channels I won't be able to see your shows. From the sounds of it, I wish I did because I have grown tired of JTV, and rarely watch anymore (other than the occasional drive by).

With that said ... please remember, this is a PUBLIC board where anyone can voice their opinions ... good, bad and ugly. I understand not every post will be rosy and full of sunshine, but IMO when you put yourself out there ... you open yourself up to criticism. I love that you posted what you did, good for you! :-) However, there is room here for everyone. If those one or two posters (HERE ON JTV) bug you that much, I suggest you put them on your "IGNORE" list. Of course, you can simply not reply to them.

I've been posting here for around 6 years, and people get snarky, myself included! I was put in my place by Misty Mills herself (by means of her coming here and being extremely pleasant and able to laugh at herself). We all can't like everyone/everything ... and this is the board to voice those differing opinions. Until Perry's has their own forum where the negative comments can be weeded out, I think it's best that we all accept that there will be all types of posters here at TVT.

Oh come on Chris, your viewers aren't blind. How do you expect your viewers to see the details of the jewelry and not notice your hands with the same clarity. If you think you can explain away your grimy knuckles, dirty nails, and dry skin with sharpies and silver polishing, go for it.

Chris Cooper

Beekeeper,

Thanks for your comments.
If you have the internet, you can watch the show. Go to (perrysestatejewelry.tv) and check for the scheduled times. You can see it live, streaming at that site, also.

To your point about different opinions and "constructive" ctiticism, I understand, you can't please all of the people all of the time. Also, some people may be in a very unfortunate situation in their life, and they need someone to take it out on....and that person might as well be me, right? It's ok, I know who I am in Christ and someone's misplaced anger is not going to affect me.

bluezirc's case is a little different. This is an individual who was connected with the show that Perrys replaced. That show is no longer on the air, and this person is very upset about that. That is why they post "publically" here, instead of contacting me directly. They want to tear me down, and by association the program they were replaced with.

The people I work with, know who this person is. Unfortunately, this is not a situation where someone is venting about something they don't care for, or would like to see changed......it a PERSONAL attack. If anyone would like to go back and read all of bluezirc's posts, you will see what I mean. You can hear it in the tone of their posts, just like the one above.

Ginger and I both are very particular about our hands and nails, since we are aware of the magnification. We apply hand moisturizer and nail oil 5 min. before every show, (as does every show host I've ever worked with.

However, I encourage anyone and everyone to tune into the show and see what bluezirc is talking about. New registered customers instantly receive a $25.00 gift credit. Also, if you send an e-mail to (contest@perrysestatejewelry.net), and give us your contact info, you will be entered in the drawing we have EVERY show for a $100.00 gift credit!! THAT'S FOUR WINNERS A WEEK!!! Since we don't yet have the audience that JTV has, it's pretty easy to win!

I would like to say a personal "Thank You" to everyone that has posted messages to me here as well as the PM's. Aside from bluezirc's posts, they have all been very kind.

Thanks again!!!

Oh I give up, if you don't care how shitty your hands look so be it.

bluezirc
07-14-2009, 10:14 AM
One more thing...........for the life of me I don't understand why you don't refrain from replying to me and just scrub your hands. I would notice and think "good going Chris," and that would be it. Your time would be much better spent with a bar of soap and a nail brush, than typing your long denials.

Chris Cooper

((SIGH!)) See what I mean.

"One more thing....", you say? I seriously doubt that, but we shall see.

Tell you what, bluezirc, if you can get any regular poster here to agree with you on any of the things you've listed. I will comply. If I am as bad as you say, that souldn't be too difficult. (Of course this excludes acnjtv1, since you two worked together)

Hi Sparky, Just look up in the dark blue strip to the right of today's date on the post...you see give rep points, then infractions. I've only given rep points so far because the posts I get upset with are usually unregistered users. All we can do is report them.Hope that helps :o)

Giving infractions only begs for them in return. You'd be better off just putting people you don't like on ignore ... then you don't have to see their posts.

I will tell you what Chris. You NEVER offended me when you were on JTV>
I haven't seen you nor will have the opportunity to on this new channel because I don't get it.

Up til now, I thought you were pretty cool.
But today you HAVE offended me

You said and I quote: "I can tell you this, it is only my Faith in God, and a personal relationship with Him that has hepled me through. I'm not going to say that I've always been the perfect Christian, (I've done some really bone-headed things and the mistakes I've made have been whoppers that didn't just hurt me), but I am thankful every day for God's grace"

What kind of person compares Christ or invokes any theology when talking about SELLING JEWELRY. What the heck do material riches have to do with the spiritual world.

You sir are a disgusting idiot.
I won't be buying from you if i ever DO trip over you on your new channel. Anyone that would confuse Christianity with the accumulation of wealth is spinning nonsense
Yeah you have the right to make a living, but to invoke this sanctimonious nonsense in defense of yourself. No you ain't got that right dude

Um, what does Christianity have to do with it? As Beekeeper said, you will see all kinds and all types here. I think Chris is Cool to bring his Faith into the ring. I have heard so much smack talk on this board in one day since I've been back that my head is SPINNING. Ah, just like old times. Bee, has it really been 6 years since you found me here, in this once shiny new place, just begging for one person to dish about the gems with? Remember when Mysty and Scott and Jennifer (was it jennifer???) acknowledged us on air??? Mysty's big van outside that held her tanning booth? LOL OMG I almost died from being thrilled and ashamed at the same time! One of the crowning moments of my life, wouldn't you say?
I'm surprised Mandy didn't join in! We gave her hell over her white eyeliner!
Those were the days my friend...
Can't wait to see Perry's! I'll have to go online to see it, but that's cool. I watch Marvin that way too. And Asian Collectables with Max on GSN. I LOVE the closeouts!
I miss his Dad David. He loved answering my questions on air about certain gems and identifying them. I still have trouble identifying Spinel.
I wish I could afford the gem id'ing tools they have on JTV right now, the refractometer, the spectroscope, the diascope (?) the uv loupe, oh good grief!!! I have over 2,000 loose gems from JTV and many, mostly the clear ones and the pinks I just can't tell what they are. I know many of the clear are Topaz but some may be Danburite, Sapphire, Goshenite.
Zircon is pretty identifiable because of it's double refraction, but even still...
I want to know it all and the more I learn, the more I realize I still have to go.
I wish I could go to the GIA like Scott did. And Cheryl, my ultimate Hero.
She helped me through some hard times when my cats passed away. I e mailed her and she wrote back immediately with kind loving words that helped get me through.
She is a Blessing. I cannot wait to see her again!!!!!
