Will someone please tell Mandy to stop saying "sssWEET!" in a high voice? First of all, that little "saying" is "over", and secondly, she says it at least every ten minutes. It drives me nuts.

Ya know, I don't think I've heard that one. Maybe cuz as soon as I hear it's her, I move on (can only take so much of the overcaffeinated!). Same goes for Dawn, Sherry (guys, guys), blabbermouth Tommy, & the lethargic sister that gets woken w/the cattle prod ever once in awhile... which one is she?? Oh, and when Misty starts the price high & runs it down like an auctioneer, can it get anymore hokey?

Didn't you notice? They kept flashing the website of the company who supplied the set decorations. I don't know who would need to buy a beach, but someone out there might want one. :o/

I couldn't believe it either. It was so tacky that I would have been embarassed to be seen sitting there, but sadly, it matches what is becoming of the entire company.

Hello Everyone, I haven't posted on here alot but I have developed a late night addiction to reading the threads. Just to give everyone out there a look on the other side, I have personally known Mandy for several years, ever since the first day she walked in the studio, a scared to death skinny little college student working her way through school. I still laugh when I think about that. She really is a very sweet person who cares about other ppls feelings before her own beleive me. When I had my double mastectomy in 03 she was one that was always calling and checking on me through my entire year of treatment and reconstruction. She is a dedicated Mother and Wife always talking about her 3 daughters and husband. We all have our quirks (lord knows after many years on tv I have more than most). As far as accents go I have always told many young hosts in training just be yourself everyone is from somewhere. I don't want to offend or make anyone mad as this is just a veiw from the other side.

I've been watching ACN/JTV for a long time. I remember when you were on and talking about having to go for tests, then announcing you were leaving for health reasons , I hoped you'd come back and wondered what happened to you. I'm glad you're ok.
I have heard those things about Mandy being a sweet and thoughtful person. I believe that about her.In the past 2 years or so, JTV has changed so much, it's like night and day. The product quality is terrible, customer service is worse and it just gets to me and a lot of others when the hosts come on and pretend everything is better than ever.I've said lots of things about Mandy and Dawn because they used to be really great on air and have become too annoying to watch at times. I have to change the channel. I used to watch a 4 or 5 hour gem show right through and wish it was longer....in the good old days.It's not a personal attack on them as people, just the shows....and as for product, I got tired of returning things so I stopped buying.Those wonderful A-Z gem Parcels are nothing but fishtank gravel and I have seen my share between what I have ordered and what I've seen from neighbors and friends.I suppose the hosts have to sit there and give it their best sales pitch.....it's their job. It's very sad because I have some really great things from the good old JTV.I would rather pay more for quality than get a bargin and have to send it back. Thank you for posting and I hope you will come more often :o)

Hi Caroline :-) It's definitely nice to hear from someone who has actually met some of these people we talk about. I'm like GemGeek ... I used to watch an entire 5 hour gem show (or jewelry) and not change the channel.
I have no real problem with Mandy. I think my biggest complaint (back when I watched more often) was that she repeated herself ... all the time. I have no real problem with Mandy. I think my biggest complaint was that she repeated herself. ;-)
I'm sure Sharon is a total sweetheart in person too ... but on air she comes off as being completely insincere. I feel like she is standing right in front of me and lieing. She has that "used car salseman" feeling to me ... sneaky and slimy ... will say anything to make a sale. Tell me the 10k poor quality amethyst ring is in any way comparable to something sold at a "high end boutique or catalogue" ... and I'm out the door. I'm not stupid. Many of JTV viewers are very well educated about gems and jewelry, and it's like a slap in the face.
Things have changed at JTV and IMO, it's not for the better. I too got tired of returning things (LOVE the fishtank gravel comparison!). We the viewers build trust with the hosts, and when we feel lied to, or misled ... it's hard to to see the upside of things.

I agree alot of things have changed since I left in 2003, I am an old school type of sales person move fast give em the price and move on if someone wants they will be compelled to call in. Now having said that when you are selling many multiples you have to slow the show down and have alot more filler talk. In the defense of all the host after you have shown an item or similar items you run out of things to say and can sometimes get in a rut of repeating things over and over. Personally I like to give the strong points of the item then reason I might like it then onto something that happened in my personal life or happened that particular day just to let the customers get to know you and be apart of the show. I also agree that there are some that do not come off as beleiveable or sincere, maybe they are putting it on to thick but the pressure they arfe under is enormous and that is when you rest up dig down deep in yourself be your own worst critic. Don't give up on JTV they are trying to go back to the basics it will just take time.

Just like alot of us on this site and sites like gembusters, we aren't so easily fooled anymore (hint,hint,hint)when it comes to gemstones and jewelery. Yep, the scamdesine debacle certainly has left a bad taste in the mouths of many and personally, I have a hard time trusting any sellers in the gemstone trade. Just one man's opinion.....

I remember that JTV used to pride itself in there call center, now they would rather you use the automated calling. They laid off allot of call center people and customer service went down with it. They didn't need this gem SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM plan or whatever they call it because the quality seemed to be better yet still at a fair price. I don't see any change until it comes from the top. The top people at JTV that have come on in recent years don't seem to understand what brought JTV to one of the top shopping networks in the business.

I remember when the Customer Care was open 24/7. Now they are closed on weekends and you sit on hold for a long time if you have a problem. There are never enough call center staff because business is slow and lots of them were laid off, but those poor people have to work long hours (10 hour shifts)with limited breaks and the supervisors make their lives miserable...still, the lady that I know who still works there is happy to have a job (for now, anyway) even with the abuse.I really feel bad for the ones who work overnights when the shows are reruns and half the stuff is already sold out before it is shown. The customers take it out on the person on the phone. It isn't pretty over there and the bargins that they sprinkle into the shows aren't really bargins when you factor in the shipping charges....the 4.99 gem is no bargin when you pay 7.52 to get it home! They stopped offering free shipping and even the 20% off promo codes that can be found online barely cover the shipping costs....ya can't win....especially when you open it up and have to send it back. I'm sorry to say that I finally gave up, and it took a lot, because I was an eternal optomist hoping the next time would be better. The last straw came when I purchased a lamp that didn't have any paperwork in the box and I called customer care to ask how I would be able to get replacement bulbs without any info....they assured me that it was a standard size bulb available at Walmart.They lied. I kept the thing and now it's a paperweight.

Well Gemgeek... I did break! Bought a star sapphire... and it was beautiful!... I can see the star really good! or in the words of Mandy SSSSWWWEEEETTT.... that is one of the stones that I would like to have another one of like my trapiche emerald and ammolite... the accents never bothered me. It's the misrepresentations that come out of the mouths with the accents, and the accents being used to make believe it is old fashioned home spun statements instead of the obvious misrepresentations that they are.
Mandy may be very sweet but Mandy needs to take a deep breath and talk at a pace that allows people to understand her.When you talk that fast makes you not professional, makes people change the channel.

I use to be an avid watcher of JTV until they decided to sell "Junk" merchandise. I recently sent a letter to the President of JTV, Bill Kouns complaing about their so-called Customer Care Reps. When I did not receive an answer that was the final straw. Any of the other shopping channels I have contacted always responded within a short period of time. A station is only as successful as the people who are at the helm.
When a company is quick to take your money, but is indifferent to your concerns, it is time to shop elsewhere.
I had purchased some heavy duty pieces in the past; however, I rarely tune now.
Unfortunately, this organization is not aware of how savvy their customer base is and think they can pawn off inferior items on an unsuspecting public. Their revenue and ratings should give them a heads-up that they are headed in the wrong direction.
I think that biff would like a station of just mandy 24/7. I hate to tell you this Biff but mandy looks better in person, when she does not have all of the make up on.
