I think the article said that it was the cost of living increase that usually happens each year would not be occurring due to the economy slow-down.

I can get mine in Feb so I am excited. It isn't much since I quit teaching long ago but at least I can breathe a little easier. My husband has been on his for a year now so he won't get this year's cost of living increase. Next hurdle is waiting for Medicare because he has a preexisting condition. Even it healthcare gets reformed, it probably will take awhile before it takes effect and we need change now. We are tween the rock and hard place in age and it would cost over 1200 a month on Cobra. Ridiculous.........

Checks will be reduced on average by about $2 a month. There will be no cost of living raise, but Medicare premiums for the average recipient will increase by about $2 a month, which is deducted before you receive your check...

I got mine 2 years ago. No COLA increase for next year but we got a total of around 7.5% for 08 and 09. Also paid Blue Cross before (small business owner) and it was over $750/mo and going up around 25-30% every year by the end of 2007--FOR ONE PERSON, NO DENTAL-NO VISION-NO DRUG COVERAGE. Now I have BC Medicare Advantage. Last year it was $75/mo, including full drug coverage. This year it went up to $87/mo. But who's complaining about a $12 increase when you were paying 10 times more a couple years ago??? Not me. I LOVE SOCIALIZED MEDICINE AND SOCIAL SECURITY.

I am still too young for medicare but looking forward to it. My husband has pre-existing condition so I am working for about 12 dollars a day now with all going to medical. I want me some of that socialized medicine. We have taken care of and supported the government all these years. It is now our turn for some help from them.
