Poor Kristen Chenoweth...she cried all thru her acceptance speech.......she didn't even get to party. : (

After win, Chenoweth checked out for migraine

Sep 21, 6:18 AM (ET)

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A publicist for Kristin Chenoweth says paramedics checked out the actress after her Emmy win, but that she's doing fine.

Meghan Prophet says Chenoweth felt a migraine coming on after winning an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a comedy series and doing press interviews. Prophet says Chenoweth laid down and onsite paramedics checked on the former "Pushing Daisies" actress.

Prophet says Chenoweth is feeling better and may take part in some of the post-Emmy activities.

The 41-year-old actress was emotional during her acceptance speech and in press interviews. "Pushing Daisies" has been canceled, but Chenoweth told reporters she has been busy, filming movies and guest starring on an upcoming episode of Fox's show "Glee."

Fashion Rundown:

Klum, Oh and Wilde are Emmy fashion trifecta

Sep 21, 6:15 AM (ET)

By SAMANTHA CRITCHELL
Some hot fashion trends made their way to the Emmy Awards Sunday night but stars played it mostly safe with few knockout looks.

The heat in Los Angeles was certainly a factor, with many of TV's top actresses wearing their hair in updos to keep damp locks off their necks.

A very pregnant Heidi Klum certainly kept her cool in a black, formfitting strapless Marchesa gown with a mermaid hemline.

"I wanted something simple because I'm so big," she said. Her jewelry was anything but: oversized dangling earrings and a huge cocktail ring.

Marchesa actually had a trifecta of successes. Other than Klum, escorted by husband Seal, the label put Sandra Oh in a gleaming gold strapless gown with rope belt and Olivia Wilde in a ripped-from-the-runway, embroidered tulle gown. The gown worn by Wilde created the illusion of being a one-shoulder number but it was just one of several strategically placed sheer panels.

"Olivia Wilde stepped it up and made a bold statement in her Marchesa," celebrity stylist Mary Alice Stephenson said. "I love that she took a chance and went for it."

Others who chose one-shoulder gowns included Elisabeth Moss in a bronze creation by Reem Acra with a heavily embellished neckline and Sigorney Weaver in a red David Meister. Hayden Panettiere was a retro glamour girl in a red draped J. Mendel that matched her bright red lips.

Ricky Gervais joked that he wished he was wearing a toga, but instead turned up wearing a retro Rat-Pack suit by Ted Baker with oversized black lapels.

Leighton Meester contrasted her scarlet lips with a white V-neck gown by Bottega Veneta with knotted fabric on the shoulder. It was a more high-fashion look likely to cause some "do or don't" debate than the usual sparkly or sexy gowns armchair critics are used to.

Blake Lively, however, surely left more than a few watchers speechless - and smiling - with her bright-red, plunging-V Versace gown.

"She was a total goddess," said her makeup artist, Dior's Kristofer Buckle, who explained that he went with all honey colors for her face so it would not compete with the traffic-stopping dress.

Kate Walsh, in an icy-blue draped strapless gown with intricate pleating and an open back by J. Mendel, joked on E! that she got the blue-dress memo. Vanessa Williams wore a turquoise bustier gown by Rafael Cennamo; Christina Applegate was in a cowl-neck blue dress by Lebanese designer Basil Soda. Julia Louis Dreyfus' blue strapless Vera Wang gown had a tiny cutout on the bust line and a black waistband. Christina Hendricks' blue scoop-neck dress had to compete with rose-cut diamond "fern" pendant earrings from Fred Leighton.

"The highlight was all the jewelry. There were great chandelier earrings," said Carrie Ann Inaba, host of TV Guide Network's red-carpet show. "I did see a little more glitter and glamour out there, which I love."

Chandra Wilson wore a Pamella Roland black silk-faille gown with white crystal floral beading, and Amy Poehler wore a black strapless design by Reem Acra with a silver beaded leaf pattern on the bodice that she complemented with 20-carat diamond Chopard earrings, a 59-carat bracelet and 6-carat ring.

In the pink camp, were Kyra Sedgwick in a L'Wren Scott dress with a cascade of ruffles on one side of the bust line, Drew Barrymore in a princess ball gown by Monique Lhuillier and January Jones in a Versace with an embroidered glass beaded bustier.

Purple also had its moments: Padma Lakshmi in a draped purple halter gown with red rosettes along the side by Badgley Mischka; and Dana Delany in a purple strapless beaded Soda gown.

Loyal Michael Kors fan Debra Messing contrasted her red hair with a ruby-colored, one-shoulder column gown with Swarovski crystals, and Toni Collette also went red in an embroidered organza gown with a full skirt of layered ruffles by Monique Lhuillier.

Tina Fey wore a Gucci gown that was fairly conservative by Hollywood standards, while her co-star on "30 Rock," Jane Krakowski, opted for a silver Versace.

Kristin Chenoweth sported a sexy silver minidress by Zuhair Murad, Holly Hunter a beaded art deco dress, and Jamie-Lynn Sigler wore a Donna Karan gold mesh halter gown and antiqued gold Karan sandals to the Emmys.

Mariska Hargitay showed up in a Carolina Herrera silver lame gown.

"I feel like a '50s mermaid," she said. Of the lame, Hargitay, whose Fred Leighton rose-cut diamond and ruby necklace was hard to ignore, added, "What's not to love?"

There were a few male heartthrobs on the red-carpet runway, too, including Rob Lowe and Jon Hamm, who both went with classic bow-tie tuxedos - with pocket squares - while Justin Timberlake donned a white tie.

Neil Patrick Harris did his hosting duties at the Nokia Theatre ceremony in a white Dolce & Gabbana dinner jacket, and Jon Cryer returned to his Duckie days with a sweater vest by Moschino Uomo.

But stylist Stephenson said she wished more celebrities made better use of all the high fashion being offered to them and took more chances.

"Instead everyone looked nice but nice is boring," Stephenson said. "Please, can't we try a little harde

an inside view:

By DERRIK J. LANG

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Here's what one writer was seeing from his vantage point inside and outside the Nokia Theatre at the Emmy Awards.

---

Outside the Nokia Theatre, the red carpet is sizzling with temperatures reaching 81 degrees - but it always feels a good 10 degrees hotter on the carpet. Stars stayed cool by drinking bottled water, being fanned by their publicists and stripping off their clothes. "Survivor" host Jeff Probst ditched his tie and Ricky Gervais proclaimed he'd rather be wearing a toga.

---

As the show is about to begin, celebrities and audience members have slowly begun to file inside. Most are mingling in the lobby while a few have entered the house to take their seats in front of the stage, which is bathed in gold light and has the control room tucked into one corner - like being able to look in on the kitchen at a restaurant. So far it's an "Office" party. Among the first to take their seats from the NBC comedy: Mindy Kaling, Phyllis Smith and Ed Helms.

---

Minutes before the ceremony, Emmy executive producer Don Mischer comes out to play school principal, sternly instructing winners to keep their acceptance speeches brief and the audience to stay out of the aisle so people can get to their seats. "Guys, we need this aisle to settle here," Mischer urges. After he's finished, the band tries to get the crowd pumped up by playing the Cheryl Lynn disco song "Got to Be Real."

---

Host Neil Patrick Harris slays the crowd with his opening musical number, written specifically for him by Broadway composers Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman of "Hairspray" fame. Biggest laugh goes to a joke about the empty seat for Paula Abdul. His rapid-fire recital of network names also tickles the crowd. About 40 attendees had to watch from the sidelines, though - they were late.

---

Because the large monitors hanging over the stage aren't broadcasting the nominees for supporting actress in a comedy series, some audience members are squinting, trying to watch the flat-screen panels inside the control room on the stage to see the nominees' reactions. The nominees for supporting actor in a comedy series are later blown up on the big screens for all to watch.

---

Harris wasn't kidding at the beginning of the show when he said he'd be hanging out at that podium on stage for most of the night. He's barely left his post. At one point during a commercial break, he leaned into the control room, but then went right back to the podium to watch the performance from Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy of "Dancing With the Stars."

---

Celebs who aren't in their seats when the show comes back from a commercial have to wait to get back inside, as Chevy Chase, toting two bottles of water, learned the hard way. He couldn't return to his seat until after the supporting-acting winners in a miniseries or TV movie were announced.

---

Don't let Harris' running gag fool you. A contest winner named Barbie really does have a seat at the Emmys, and it's a good one. After she was shown stuck behind a pair of Harlem Globetrotters and the show's TelePrompTer, she was escorted to an orchestra pit seat about 20 rows back with no obstructions.

---

"The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" won the Emmy for writing for a variety, music or comedy program, but it was fellow nominee "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" that earned the most laughs from the Nokia crowd. The show presented a clip that listed the names of its writers as Facebook members, requesting O'Brien be their friends.

---

During the "In Memoriam" montage, the appearances of Michael Jackson, Bea Arthur, Patrick Swayze, Farrah Fawcett and Walter Cronkite drew the biggest audience reaction. Afterward, the onstage band, which had been playing a mix of tunes during commercials, remained silent, leaving only the hush of the crowd.

---

This isn't a sold-out show. Or maybe everyone is just hanging out in the lobby? There are dozens of open seats in the orchestra and loge sections. Sure, they're in the back or obstructed by equipment, but still - they're empty.

---

During the break before the last award of the night, best drama series, is announced, a soothing announcer comes on over the loudspeakers and tells the audience members who will be attending the Governor's Ball that they should exit the double doors in the front. Then she coolly adds: "Those not attending, thank you. Have a good night." Ouch!

Neil Patrick Harris did a great job.

I would like to say that I'm sorry, but there are other funny shows on tv other than 30 Rock, and it really bothers me that they dominate everything. One category had 5 30 Rock nominees, and one that wasn't. Come on!

Although the segment was sad, how great was Sarah McLaughlan?!?

Wanna talk fashion?!? Did anyone have favorites?

Sandra Oh and Kristin Chenoweth win best dressed from me. Kristin is so tiny ... I loved her dress! Sandra's dress was just stunning on her, but IMO she always looks great. My other faves were Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette.

I thought the two girls from Gossip Girl looked like they were in costumes ... too grown up for them.

John Cryer looked horrible! Too casual for the event ... that vest was just bad!!!

Heidi Klum looked fab too, but I know many don't like it when pregnant women wear tight dresses. I didn't mind it ... on her!

Jessica Lange looked good, but I didn't love the color of her dress. Sigourney Weaver looked great in her red dress too.

Kristin always looks adorable. Such a cute lady!! Hated to hear that she was not feeling well.

I did not care for the super tight dress on Heidi Klum. She is beautiful, just not a good fashion choice IMO.

Blake Lively from Gossip Girl was stunning in her red dress. I have seen some discussion questioning if it was too revealing or not.

speaking of Blake....lots of rumors around Boston about her and Ben Affleck....they are filming a movie here together and spending lots of down time with each other....nothing concrete seen, other than Ben supposedly being all goo goo eyed over Blake. She is dating Penn Badgley. Jen Garner came to town with the kids after some photos in the local papers of cozy dinners.....they said she came to keep an eye on old Ben....he does have a thing for co stars.

I always thought he was.

I didn't think his relationship with Jennifer Lopez was real either. It was like it was just a publicity stunt for the both of them. I think he's one of those guys who thinks it might hurt his career if people know he's gay. The same with Tom Cruise.
