My husband and I have learned not to look too far into the future. There is an expression which rhymes when you say it in Yiddish, but it goes something like this>
"We make plans, and God laughs". But sometimes I think he cries.
Anyway, We are looking forward to buying a motor home and joining a caravan to Alaska. I have always wanted to go to Alaska.

For the near future I plan to work on our home. I need to remodel the bathroom and paint and paper other rooms. I want to work in the yard now that the weather is getting better here in the Northeast(Long Isand to be specific). We try not to plan too far into the future as my husband's health is not always great.
Hope you all had a great holiday.Luckyme
Hi Luckyme..
where in Long Island do you live. I live in Suffolk county....maybe we are neighbors.....lady

Lady & Luckyme:
I have family out on Long Island. Cederhurst and Lawrence to be exact. Are any of you close to that?

Luckyme:
Remodeling is such a joy WHEN IT'S FINISHED. :) We just finished having all the wallpaper removed, we painted the whole house indoors, and we had all carpets ripped up and we had hardwood floor laid in all the rooms. It was 2 months of hell, but it sure looks beautiful now. Of course, my husband and I did not actually do the work, we hired professionals to do it. If it were left up to me, I'd probably wind up using the paint brush to put makeup on with and gluing my feet to the wood floors. My husband is very handy but he has a degenerated disc in his back and has to be careful. BUT he does love love working on the outside. I tell him he missed his calling because I have never known anyone who can work so hard all day in the Florida heat mowing and planting and watering. But he loves it so at least we save money on gardeners. So what are your new color schemes going to be?? I did a pale yellow in my kitchen and laundry room, and a seafoam green in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Really came out beautiful. We also had hardwood blinds made for all the windows. The only room that is not finished yet is the livingroom.

I am from Ronkonkoma,NY that's in the middle of Suffolk County.
Color schemes are not all there yet. The little bathroom is getting new wallpaper, white with small flowers on vines. The upstairs bath I'm not sure about. We will be breaking through one wall and making a larger room. I have not had the time to even talk to the contractor yet. The kitchen was redone about a year and a half ago and the wall just have white primer on them. We broke thorough the wall in the dining room and had a major redo. That took weeks in the summer and I had absolutly no kitchen for months. Eating out breakfast lunch and dinner got really boring real fast. I even had to lock up my cats all day every day so they would not get in the way. At that time we had 7. We are down to 5 now and the oldest is not doing very well.
I ordered a sage green carpet from QVC this week-end for the living room. Anyone ever get Royal Palace carpets??
Thats all for now my next client is due in anymoment and today is a nutsy day.
Hi Luckyme,
I am in WEST ISLIP about 20 minutes away, small world isn't it?....

My future plans are to be a success at my new job, which is exhausting right now.
And to meet a grandmother whom I have never met on Mother's Day this year. :)
I hope it happens.
Mostly, I plan to work, work, work.. It's just Monday and I am so tired I can't believe it. Tootsie, best of luck with your new upcoming job. I know you will do great.
It is hard to break into something new when you aren't the young kid on the block, even if it is the same field, just a new group of people..
I bet Kathy Levine is experiencing a form of this same type of age glass ceiling.
It must be hard to stay as marketable as she is. I know I could never do it, way too much maintenence required.
I hope she is picked up soon with her new show.
Best,
Amanda
