Can someone please explain to me what is the big deal with the ISP numbers. Also, exactly what personal information can be obtained from the number. The way some people are posting scares me. Some seem a bit obsessed with it. I don't mean to offend anyone so PLEASE for God's sake, Don't look up my ISP number for vengence. I am just curious.

Whoever you are, thanks for your rude response. Maybe I am just ignorant, but that was a legitimate question. I have never heard of an ISP # until I found this site. I never paid much attention to those numbers at the top until I read about them in several post. I got concerned about the amount of personal information this # could give out.I was under the impression that someone could use this # to get my home address or phone number or other private information. I know that there are alot of other ways to obtain such information over the net and I thought that this may be one of them. I was not pointing anyone out or accusing anyone of doing such things to me, but I am very cautious of internet anonymity. I didn't understand just by reading the post, so I thought that I would ask. The people on this board have been helpful in other areas, so I thought that someone could help me out in this area. As far as the information you posted, What does that half to do with me? I have no idea who that is or what that means. Now, maybe someone who is trying to be helpful and not hurtful will respond.

I agree. That response was uncalled for. I dont really know how much info they can find out with those numbers. Sorry.

Basically, they can't find out anything from your ISP# Jhase, other than your basic locale. All it shows is your internet service provider, hence ISP.
It will reveal that you are not telling the truth about where you are posting from i.e. if you say you are in Outer Mongolia, and you are really in Hackensack NJ! The FBI can search deeper if neccesary, but you would have to have their amount of authority to find out anything else. Don't worry about it. I hope I'm not going to be sorry that I posted on here, but I felt that you needed some reassurance.
The curious might like to know that I am posting from the UK., so save yourselves the time and effort of tracing my ISP#. This is my first and last posting. Ta Ta.

Big Deal! That's quite obvious! Are you a friend of Steve's? Maybe you ARE Steve?

Thanks Friendly Face for clearing that up for me.
Terry, I appreciate your comment also.
Oh and Vengence, I'll pray that God gives you some human decency.
