A caller on QVC says to the host, Hey, do you remember me? I met you last year at so and so....or when they say, "This is the second time I spoke to you. Remember when I spoke last year on the air, about how much my mother loves the Aero bed? "
Last night, when Lisa was hosting the Effortless style clothing show, a caller said to Lisa that she met her in Venice last year. Lisa R said Venice, Italy? The caller then said, yes, I was the one in the wheelchair! LOL! Lisa R's eyes got so big, she looked like a deer in a headlight! I knew she didn't remember the caller, but had to fudge her way through it. those calls always make me laugh.

YES. Whenever someone says I met you or I talked with you, the hosts allways give a glassy eyed smile......they never say NO, I DONT REMEMBER YOU! LOL!

That is why I will be the first in line to vote against the so called testimonial calls. I don't care to hear what Susan in Boise has to to say about a Denim and Co. shirt. Just move it along guys and start selling another item. Oh, I forgot the other one, "Can I say hello to my husband, he's sitting here beside me on the sofa........"

I agree about dumping the testimonial calls. I was watching very early one morning when Christa Pitts was hosting. The caller made a remark that when Christa was first on, she (the caller) didn't really like her but now Christa has grown on her. She then went on to remark about how funny/strange her last name was. Poor Christa didn't know what to say....she stated that Pitts is her married name and that her maiden name was very long or hard to pronounce (can't remember which). Thank God the caller didn't ask what her maiden name was. Did you ever notice that some of the callers that get on the air don't want to talk? They give yes or no answers. The hosts have to drag every word out of them.

The worst testimonial I ever heard: Steve Bryant was selling jewelry and a woman called in to gush over the gold, told Steve "it's SO beautiful, it's shinier than a n-----'s heel!" I almost fell off the couch at the choice of her words but poor Steve didn't understand what she said and asked her to repeat it ... which she did with even more enthusiasm. Steve's face turned red, he looked down at the floor, and said "oh my, oh my, I shouldn't have asked you to repeat that!" The woman then said "I guess I shouldn't have said that on television, huh?!"

Does anyone remember years ago when Kathy took a caller....and before Kathy could cut her off. the woman said the "product(pearls) was shit, the worse quality"Kathy's eyes went wide wide and then you just heard a click as the caller hung up.It was a riot!Only time I saw Kathy Speechless.

Live Television! I'm sure there are many moments QVC would like to forget. I've heard my share of odd or funny calls. I'm sorry I missed that Kathy call. I did hear one once where they guy sounded like he was coming on to her on the air. They finally had to cut him off! Kathy acted like they'd lost the call! (Yeah, right! :) ) Its allways so funny when they get someone longwinded on there and the hosts cant get rid of them. Or worse they have something negative to say about the product! I heard one irate caller with Dan Hughes one time about some exercize device they bought. I feel sorry for those call screeners. How can you really know what someone is going to say once they get on the air? LOL!

$pender, you're making me laugh! Sorry I missed that one with Speechless Kathy. I watched Pat James DiMentri (sp?)conduct herself with great dignity when a caller said "do you realize you have something green between your front teeth?" Pat's tongue went up to her teeth for just a second before she knew she's been zapped, never missed a beat, continued right on with the product she was selling :)

Hee hee hee.....I also remember a good one! MBR was presenting a ring a few years ago and took a call from a caller who just ordered the ring. MBR asked the woman if the ring was for her or did she buy it as a gift? The caller said it was a gift and MBR asked her who the ring was for. The FEMALE caller replied it was for her WIFE!!!!! Well, MBR who seems about as prim, proper and sometime prudish, turned white as a ghost and seemed shocked!!!!! She managed to say, "Well, I'm sure your significant other will love the ring" and you can tell she was SO uncomfortable saying that!

There was a caller one time on with In the Kitchen with Bob. He had Ron Popeill on with the rotisiorre(i know i am spelling that one wrong), anyway, a little old lady called and had the machine and started saying how the knob fell off and the gloves fell apart and Bob couldn't get her off quick enough. I mean, he was rather rude in my opinion. But he is not my favorite host so I just don't like his attitude. I think they need to train the hosts how to handle calls that have a problem. Maybe just a little kindness to this old lady and directing her to customer service or something would have been nice. It tells the rest of us viewers that they only want to hear good calls. I mean the lady liked her machine, she just had a knob fall off and gloves fall apart.

All I ever hear are callers with wonderful glowing testimonials about all the products. As if . . . . But it is funny when they can tell when a testimonial is starting to turn negative. The person is talking. Then the host talks, but the caller does not answer back because QVC hung up on them before they could say anything bad about a product.
Some callers I do remember. One was when Christa just started. She was on the air like a hand full of times and she slightly stumbled over a word, just as anyone might, and this old sounding guy told her not to stutter. She was not stuttering at all. I thought that was pretty mean.
The second was the time when this caller talked to Rick and he sounded gay over the phone. Then out of the blue he was telling him how good-looking and beautiful he thought Rick was. Rick smiled and put his thumb across his throat signaling the crew to cut the call. Then the caller was asking Rick what was he doing with that motion. They hung up on him fast. Was it a goof or was he hitting on Rick? It was funny none the less.
And of course there was the one where Robertson was doing a show with Diane Young and this woman called. She sounded normal and was raving about the products. Then out of the blue she said that she uses her son(s) s-----n and puts it all over her face. Wow! That one was a shocker. Lisa caught on to that one before I did.

There was also a caller last year, who called in during Jill Bauer's Birkenstock show. Jill was there with the female vendor (I forgot her name, she's slender and blond), when a caller asked how she could get rid of the rotten smell that was in the cork footbed of every one of her Birkenstocks. The vendor's face fell in her lap, because she was expecting the caller to rave and rave about Birkenstocks. The vendor had no answer and Jill suggested she take the shoes to have them recorked. The caller then told them she paid $95.00 for the shoes. Boy, did she get the ," We'll transfer you back to customer service, so they can take your name and phone number." I wonder if they actually call these poor people back?
They played the Kathy blooper during her farewell show a few years ago. I thought it was a man who called and it was about pearls and he told her to stick them up her ass. She was bug-eyed. It was hysterical.

I feel like I haven't been watching enough QVC. Those are hilarious. I remember when Jeff Hewson was on and a female caller talked to him about jewelry for a while and then asked if they sell edible panties. She was cut off quickly and Jeff's mouth dropped.

Boots I saw the Night with Lisa R. and Diane Young and the woman called in and said hers sons %$^$^ on her face were you not shocked! The woman seemed so normal like any other call she talked about the products for a long time and then said that so calmly! I was in shock I could not believe she said that do you think she was serious or a crank call or just a physco I still cant figure out which. but I got to say lisa and diane just went on selling like it never happened I was sitting there saying to myself for a couple minutes did she really say that!

Boots and Leeza: I listened to the woman, too. Couldn't believe my ears, wondered if I'd heard her correctly! A prankster I suspect but she sure pulled it off. I don't know how LR and Diane kept their cool. I would have been bug-eyed like Kathy when the guy wanted to shove the pearls where the sun doesn't shine! :)

Yeah, your right. I really have no idea if it was a joke but I was defiantly shocked. I did not even believe it for a second or two. I was like --- what? That woman said it so calm. Like it was nothing. See, the thing is is that I have heard of people doing that. I think that it is suppose to tighten up the skin and make it soft (chemical composition you know). Have you seen a show on HBO a while back where they show sexy and odd shows that were broadcast on other countries? They did a few of them. Well, I was watching one where they showed this woman take a jar of (you know) out of the refrigerator. Then she put some on a toothbrush and started brushing her teeth with it. She also put some in her hair to make it soft or something. She said she brushes her teeth everyday with it. Personally, I about lost my lunch with that one. Point is, I have heard of people using s*****n on their face before and I have seen that woman on TV actually use it. So I do not know if she or they got the idea from something like that and make a prank call or if she was for real? I would say that is was a prank but she seemed, on the phone, to be an older woman. Well beyond an age where you would expect a person to make such a prank call and say such a thing.

I have plenty of "Motion Pictures" on video that I purchased from a little "specialty" shop on Eighth Avenue in NYC and all the women wind up
using that stuff as face cream. They're all very beautiful with a lovely complexion. Go figure!
I can't believe I missed that one. What did Lisa and the other lady do when she said that? Did they disconnect her? I'd like to see what they say after they are off the air.

You wouldn't believe how well they handled that one. The woman sounded middle-aged, made intelligent comments about Diane's products while Lisa and Diane stood there smiling and chatting with her, and without any warning the words just popped right out of her mouth. She wasn't immediately disconnected (I think she hung up) so maybe it took a second to sink in :) Both Lisa and Diane made a comment to her, nothing unusual, just the kind of comment you'd expect they'd give to a woman calling about a product. I bet they had a lot to say later! :) I'm glad I'm not the only one who watched that show. I wasn't sure I heard her say that. It happened recently. Maybe the last time Diane was on.

From the way I remember it it was like the second to last time Diane was on. Lisa realized what she said and told them to cut the call. I do not remember the exact words she said to the crew. But I do remember Lisa catching on first and telling to cut the call. Diane looked like she had no idea what the caller was even saying. At least she looked like it with her expression. You know, like when someone calls and it is unintelligible. I think she asked Lisa what she was saying and Lisa responded something about people should not be watching if they had too much to drink. Lisa then carried on as if nothing happened at all. I think things just went by too quickly for Diane to fully understand exactly what went down. They just quickly and efficiently moved on from there. I too was wondering what was said after the show. What did those two say about it?

Boots: I think you got it exactly right. I didn't realize Lisa told them to cut it, just heard her say something, she didn't seem flapped over it :) I remember Diane's uncomprehending expression ... you've gotta' wonder about that caller. Strange woman :)

Yes I too agree that QVC goes to the phone much to often, especially since all the calls seems to come from retired women in the south. At my job we call QVC the official shopping mall for the south. Especially North Carolina.

Boots, I was watching the Q with Lisa and Diane Young when the incident occurred, however I was on pain medicine after dental work and was a bit drowsy, and didn't quite catch what the caller actually said. I can't make out your abbreviation and very much want to know what was said. Can you give another clue or hint. Thanks
