"Strep Throat"..Yuck is right!
I've had it a couple of times and I'm sure you will end up needing an antibiotic.(usually penicillen-heck,did I spell that right?lol)
My advice to you is to call your GP as soon as possible in the AM or visit the out-patient dept. of your hospital.Strep is nothing

GOOD LORD!! I am sick!

I finally went to the Dr. today. I know, I know...I should have gone yesterday, but I just hate running to the Dr. I couldn't believe it, but I don't have strep throat.

Anyway, the verdict? Upper AND Lower Respiratory infection. Sometime last night, I woke up and felt like I couldn't breath. I think back on how funny I must have looked because I remember getting out of the bed and running around...like that was going to help! I guess I was terrified. Doc says my throat is just so swollen, that because I am breathing through my mouth (can't through my nose!!), it would feel as if I was suffocating. I am trying not to talk at all (now THAT is a challenge!!!).

Thanks to you all that have been sympathetic. You are very kind, but I already knew that! :) All I know is that I HAVE to be well by next Tuesday. It is our annual trip to the SEC basketball tournament (watch out Razorbacks!) and the best part is that it is in New Orleans. We have great tickets, great dinner reservations, and a better team going than normal. I HAVE TO BE 100%!!! :)

Can I talk about the horse show here!?!?!? ha! I'm afraid to talk about that darn mop anymore!!!!

Anyway, for my first cutting show, I think we did great! Those of you who have animals and love them like crazy understand how wonderful it is to just be in their company and share time with them. THAT is what makes me the most happy about doing this with my girl (Ellie).

Have a great rest of the week!!! It is beautiful here...wish I could enjoy it...can't go outside... UGH!

PK, you are funny. All the teams go. Hey, basketball is NOT a fave of mine, but the fun of going is to enjoy the city. YEEHAW!!! My mother, of all people, is the one who loves it so. Before my brother got married, it was he (Vandy fan), my Mom (KY fan), and my husband and I (UT fans) that went every year to the tournament. It was a ball. Since my brother travels so much anyway, he feels, and rightfully so, that he needs to spend his down time with his kids. Heck, Vandy never wins anyway....why waste his time!?!?! ha!

We are excited Laraney. One year, I had trip to New Orleans (job related) AND the SEC tournament was down there. SO twice in one year was AWESOME! All I know is I hope they are really bleached those streets in the French Quarter after Marti Gras! hee hee!

Shel...It is funny you say that about taking the antibiotic because my Dr. usually just goes ahead and gives me a refill with the original SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM because I seem to get it so bad, one doesn't usually take care of it! I have definitely learned the hard way about finishing it.

On his way home from the office yesterday, my husband did bring me a potpourri of juices to drink. I am a diet coke addict, and I needed something better than that! Water was getting old...

Well, MsPiggie...I'm glad you're on the mend. Sorry I haven't been around. It's been a wild and crazy week around here!! The kids have been off of school for the past two days. I'm calling the superintendent tomorrow if he has the audacity to cancel again. I WANT MY HOUSE BACK!!!!

I used to be a Diet Coke addict. Since my last pregnancy, I can't even stand it!! And, as Susan Lucci said this am, that other stuff (meaning NutraSweet, etc.) just sits in your liver....remember that from Susan's mouth to your ears!! :)

Hey Ms Piggie! I sure hope you get to feelin' better soon! Strep throat can make you miserable.

My son had it last year, and he was really zapped of his energy. A week or so ago, he had a sore throat, he went to the doctor right away, but this time he didn't have strep and got over his illness right away. He sure didn't want to get strep again.

Oh MsPiggie...that's just awful!! What are you going to do? If you rest from now until Tuesday do you think you might be well enough to go? I hope so, for your sake. I know how much you are looking forward to this.

By the way, speaking of Chocolate Monkey's, the recipe I gave here is a little different than the way they make them at the bar the SU and I go to. They make theirs with Kahlua, Bailey's and Banana Liqueur with milk and ice. They're both nice so I guess it's a personal preference. Now, I'm thirsty for one.

Dr. didn't change your antibiotic? Sometimes they switch midstream if no progress is being made, or if the culture comes back sensitive to something else.

Oh, MsPiggie, I'm soooo sorry. Sick is horrible, but sick that makes you miss something fun is even worse!!! Did he say that even if you are better travel would be bad? I hope not. Please know that I'm thinking of you. I don't know if you have strep, but I am a carrier. All I have to do is be in the same room as someone with strep, and I get it. So, don't breathe on your screen or I"ll be down and out. Don't have time for that!! :) Hope I made you smile, as you always do me!! :)

You are all very kind. Let me say this...I DON'T have strep. The culture came back negative. They have called it an upper and lower respiratory infection. Apparently my ears are infected.

Last night I started a whole new round of RX. I didn't bother going into this the other day, but because I felt so bad at the first of the week, I was NOT going to drive all the way to my regular GP. (He is about 45 mins. from my home...too far for how sick I felt)

I found someone here that would see me, so I went! The next day, however, I called my regular Dr. and told them what was going on. He asked me to give the meds at least 24 more hours. Because my ears and throat were in such distress, I felt that I had better go on and let him see me. The fact of the matter was, I was determined that I was not going to get to New Orleans, be out of the initial antibiotics, not be over the symptoms, and miserable.

He was the one who mentioned the flying. So, he took me off of the medication that Dr. here put me on, and started me on other things. I am on Prednisone now, along with 2 other tablets, then he gave me a cough medicine. On Monday, he wants me to tell him if I feel any obvious pain in my ears, and if so, I guess he is going to do an injection.

I AM NOT GOING TO MISS THIS TRIP! I may be a walking drug store...but I am going! ha!

Real quick, about the cutting... We got 3rd in 2 classes and 2nd in another. Not bad for our first cutting. All of them had over 10 entries, so that made it even better. I haven't been able to get on her all week, so that is bad for our momentum. She is getting "shod" as we speak, and my husband said he would work her a bit afterwards. I am going to go out myself here in a minute. Since I am missing next week, it is really going to be tough to catch up. I have someone that can ride her for me, but it is ME that needs the work!!!! ha!
