I just caught Kelly on the View today, and she was great as always. Talked alot about her kids and husband. They also talked about a charity sponsored by Angel Soft that rewards giving kids.

Did Kelly mention her steamy, hot book club?

Vlanj, if you can't contribute to the conversation, why post? Weezy posted how Kelly talked her husband and kids and about a charity contest that rewards giving kids, and the best response you could think to add was "Did Kelly mention her steamy, hot book club?" Talk about inappropriate comments! Besides, even if she did, who cares? They have talked about much worse on The View!

I think weezy summed up Kelly's segment pretty well. She didn't mention the steamy book club, but hey Regis seems to be more excited about this book club than Kelly.

To Reege:
If you scroll UP to the top of the page, you'll see IN BOLD LETTERS announcing Kelly's appearance on the View. Just in case you can't locate it:
....THE VIEW ON MONDAY APRIL 22, 2002: Kelly Ripa and her new Book Club (tha Oprah dropped)....
So, it looks like I was contributing to the thread.
(no hard feelings on my part) lol

Well, noone has answered the question yet...
DID she talk about the bookclub, I only caught the end of the interview when she was talking about the Angelsoft thing.
Wasn't Lisa Ling wearing the dress "Elly" wore for the shoe segment? They may have said this but as I said, I didn't catch the beginning.

Yes, Kelly did a good job on the view. What bothered me was Barbara Walters. I thought she had somewhat of an attitude toward Kelly. I felt as if though there was some tension with her and that bothered me. When Kelly first came out, she greeted everyone and it was a welcome greeting by the others except for Barbara. Then Barbara is silent through the whole interview in a way as if she had an attitude. Then when Barbara asks her one and only question, it's about Kelly on Live,and Regis' look when Kelly has gone too far on the show. What is Barbara's problem, why so negative? Did anyone else notice that? I thought Kelly did well answering her....boy, what a bitch that Barabara can be at times!

ALL KELLY SAID, IS THAT IT IS CALLED,"READING WITH RIPPA". SHE WILL ANNOUNCE THE FIRST BOOK THIS WEEK.
<LLuccy>

No, she did not talk about the book club.
I didn't notice an "attitude" with Barbara, but I did notice there was more "air" in the air kisses than with the other ladies.
I thought it was Kelly who pulled back a bit and thought it a bit curious -wondered if it was merely a gesture of respect, or something else.
Kelly has had to field that question a number of times - because she is so "outspoken" - LOL. I agree she fielded it very well, and complimented Regis at the same time. A "proper gentleman" sums him up to a T...
Her best interview to date, IMO..
;0))

PK, when you say her best interview todate, are you referring to Kelly or Barbara? I sure hope you're not referring to Barbara...lol

LLuccy, I thought the same thing about Barbara. She sat there kind of stiff with her nose in the air like she smelled something foul. She's a Kathie Lee clone so she might not be to accepting of Kelly. I thought Kelly did a great job on the show (The View) though.
<cassandra>

That should be TOO accepting.

No, the book club wasn't mentioned at all. I think the book club is just a phase, and won't last unless fans of the show back it up. Kelly was her usual self, nice, bubbly, and down to earth. Like I said, she spoke of her kids, and mostly about her marriage (I think the bullish babes have the hots for her husband because thats all they went back to). They asked her about having another child, and she said that she is close to convincing Mark to try for a third. She spoke highly of Regis, as she always does. Didn't find any odd behavior from Barbara. I thought the air kiss was just Kelly showing respect. By the way, the organization Kelly was promoting is called "Angels In Action" and they sponsor kids who do amazing things such as coming up with ideas to help the needy, etc. That sums it up.
If you want the details...Mark was at a Knicks game, and he was sitting next to Star who says Mark couldn't stop talking about her. Then Mark called her during the game so that Kelly could see him because apparently he was showing up on TV. Then Star congratulated her on her nominations, aswell as Mark. Kelly just said that she really thinks Mark will win. Lisa asked Kelly which went by faster, her first year with Regis or her first year being married. Kelly said her first year with Regis because she was preggers, married, and had two jobs so time went by quicker. Thats about it!
LOL LLuccy...
Kelly, of course.. As has been said often, she is a work in progress. It's fun to see her grow into the job.

Weezy Hi! I too think Mark will win. Not just because I like the show, but he really is an excellent actor. He has a presence, that really makes you pay attention when he is onscreen. I say this because most of the time, I am doing something else when my soap tapes are on. Kelly is also a good actress, but she has some stiff competition, and personally I think she has had better years. Although, those childbirth scenes always seem to tip the scales.

Hi Lluuccy! Someone on the View board said the same thing about Barbara W.--I didn't notice it, I thought Kelly was just trying to hurry the kisses due to time--who knows--
Yes, that's right, Kelly did say she's close to convincing Mark to have a third child. She said that if she gets him drunk enough she can convince him of anything.
<cassandra>

Lsac, sorry I'm really not trying to pick on you, but Kelly didn't say anything about Mark bring drunk to convince him of something. It was more like after a few drinks and I think there's a difference.

Excuse the typos. I'm not drunk, really!

I think Barbara is really "ticked" over Meredith maybe going to CBS, although I don't care for meredith so I think the show would be better without her. Maybe Barbara is worried about the competion.

This is strange, but does anyone on here know if Meredith Viera has a son named Gabriel, and if so, how old?
I thought someone mentioned her son Gabe being a bit spoiled. I don't know anything about her, but as I say, I thought that was mentioned.
Today, I was looking for some information about Totie Fields on Google, and they gave the site of her Obituary. I didn't know when she died, and went to the site. It is also a site for famous people that died during the 70's, 80's and 90's. While I was scrolling down, I saw the date for Gabriel Cohen, son of Meredith Viera and Richard Cohen on August 2, 1991.
Again, I know this is strange, but since I saw a mention of him somewhere this month, it was a little confusing. Enlighten please. Sandy

Sandy,
May be a birth announcement. He could be about 11 now.

Thanks RnKnS,
It was definately an Obituary. I am thinking it may just be a mistake. There is a place in the site to email and I thought perhaps of writing the man and see if there is a way to verify his facts based on the fact she apparently has a son named Gabriel.
Perhaps she had a son, named him Gabe, he passed away and had another. I wouldn't know.
I was just curious.
I hope it is a mistake. Either way, seeing something like that is heart tugging.
Thanks. Sandy

Scoopsplus, I think Mark has a good shot at winning an Emmy too. I don't think Kelly will win an Emmy for her portrayal of Hayley because last year wasn't her strongest, storyline wise. She had one year where she did such an awesome job (Rachel/Max storyline) and she didn't win. So unless her competition isn't that great, I expect her to lose on that category. Not to mention the amount of times she has said she didn't deserve the award. I have a feeling that plays a role in who the judges vote for, but you never know do ya? As for her co-hosting nomination, I truly think she, and Regis are going to take it this year. Yes, Kelly has alot of room for improvement, but she has proved to be a success on LIVE. She has not only managed to keep LIVE's original viewers watching, but has managed to attract a younger audience, and actually given a boost to the ratings of a morning show that was already well off after Kathie Lee left. Not to mention that you've got Regis' name attached to that nomination...I think that guarantees her a win. I can't wait till May! LOL

Weezy do you know when it is in May? I am not sure about Mark winning, I thought he was super nice at ssw, but as a character I dont care for him, I dont like Mateo's macho additude and how he tends to not tell Haley important information, reminds me of Hector but I will support any abc actor, especially amc to win. I hope the Regis and kelly show will win, but I think Rosie will get it, now I have never seen Rosie, but I think she will win for two reasons, this being her last year and disclosing her sexual preference, hopefully I am wrong about Rosie winning, now who else is against them besides Rosie?

Monica, Peggy answered your question.....its on May 17th. About Mark's nomination...ofcours e I'm being totally bias because I just love Mateo (And I know he's being macho lately), and thats why I totally think he should win. Plus Mateo was heavily involved in a major storyline that affected all of PV this year, so I think his chances are fair. Although he is not the fan favorite (Josh, and Cameron have a larger fan base which I think can also affect the way the judges vote), I think he's displayed more talent this year than those two. But then again, there are two other nominees from other soaps that I don't know anything about...so he could lose to them. Kelly and Regis are up against The View, Rosie, Montel, and The Other Half (I think). Take Rosie out of the running, and I think they are taking it home. Even with Rosie up for an Emmy, shes already won several, and the fact that she came out this year can affect her negatively. Not too many people were thrilled about that so ya never know. Plus, if you wanna base things on ratings, Rosie's have gone down a bit- way before she came out.
Just an obvservation, but I didn't think a character had to be "likeable" to win an emmy..
Some of our best loved/hated villians have won in the past.. In fact if the actor can garner a great deal of dislike for his character, I would think he would stand a better chance.. Look at past winners... But JMO

Weezy, I totally disagree with you about the Rosie thing. Her coming out was the best thing she could have done. The entertainment business LOVES to support things like that. My guess is that she will get "votes of support". Not sure.
I am not sure that Rosies"coming out"will effect anything because I think that she basically just confirmed what everyone already knew.
It would be like an 8 month pregnant Kelly "coming out"and saying that she was pregnant(or any other woman for that matter).It was already apparent but if she would like to tell us all for the record then so be it.It is obvious at 8 months that a woman is pregnant ,you dont need to be told.But I would never ask either question to either woman in either situation,because it really isn't my business nor does it matter.So I really hope that Rosie coming out has no bearing one way or the other.
Is this where I add JMO?LOL....kidding*S *
