I didn't want to continue on that thread so I thought I'd answer you by starting a new one lol
Host chat was good. Because of Regis. He was hysterical today. I love when he picks on Gelman, because I know he's just joking, and I know Gelman can take it and loves it too. I liked his rant about how everything on TV is geared to the 18**9 age bracket. His tyrade about Kelly on the View was great. I don't care what anybody says, there is nobody like Regis. I thought he confused the trivia caller, too, but I also didn't think she knew the answer anyway. Wouldn't she have just guessed Sydney?
I can't stand when Kelly gets on her high horse about the Bachelor, but I don't feel like ranting about it right now. I'm waiting for Regis to turn to her and say "if you don't like it, don't watch it" lol
Could you believe Regis cut the sandwich with the scissors and they ate it? I thought KElly was so "germ" conscious. Gross!!!
As far as the book club thing goes, who reads two books at once? Shouldn't she have read one quickly, and then the second one? I think Regis was surprised because she said she watched all of those TV shows, and then said she read two books. Does seem like a bit of a stretch.
I don't think he's implying that she doesn't read. Well, maybe.

LisaC, have to agree with you that Regis was right on today! (Except for the trivia problem.) He makes the host chat. She did well too, I thought. Twice she did exactly what I have wanted her to do from day 1...stand up to Regis and make it interesting! She accused him of only listening to half the conversation on The View ("like you tend to do!") and then something else but can't think of what it was right now. She absolutely needs to argue with him when needed, to make it interesting.
And it is especially interesting to hear Regis rail about networks gearing shows to young people, since he is so...well...old. And still working! Good for him!
I thought it was funny last night on the Peter Jennings news that one of the clips they showed was immediately AFTER Sharon had done something obscene with Jack's teddy, and he grabbed it and hugged it. Like you, I'm not sure why ABC News is so cozy with MTV...they are across the street from each other in Times Square, but geez...
Oh, and one more thing about the Osbournes, when you watch the show at least twice you see that there is a very sweet love between Ozzy and Sharon and "their babies." I know you've heard it all before, but I don't believe Ozzy and Sharon have other close friends and you really get the sense that their kids and them are bonded closely because of that. The real humor in the show is in the editing, though. Ozzy railing at Sharon about not doing Albuquerque, then the next shot, he's on stage yelling, Hello, Albuquerque!! The MTV editors did a GREAT job.
And just once you've got to hear.....Shaaaaa-ron !

Oh, Lisac is it NOT ok for Kelly to speak her mind (or get on her high horse as you put it) about The Bachalor, but it is ok for you to GET ON YOUR HIGH HORSE EVERY SINGLE DAY about Kelly?! Talk about double standard!! Get a life. You and all your side kicks must be old coots just like Regis. You find no fun in life or anything.
I thought that the sandwich thing was rather gross also.Regis never did take a bite of his though, just tricked Kelly into it.
I think that the other thing that Kelly "busted"Regis on was the bachelor.Regis had an airheaded moment when he thought that the second season of the bachelor was going to be with the same guy.Come to think of it,Kelly restrained from commenting ,just rolled her eyes a bit
and let gelman and the audience react.
I agree with everything that you said,RnKnS about The Osbornes.I have watched the past 2 weeks and now have a feel for the show and am totally hooked. Also,
agree with the SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAA AAAAAAARON part too.LOL.It cracks me up everytime he screams it.
Did you see in that same episode with"the babies"that when Sharon read him his card from Jack ...she said it says"to: ME old man".Ozzy got the biggest smile on his face, you could tell his heart melted.
I thought the toilet and elevator scene was hilarous too,and cant wait to watch tonight,if you seen the previews ,you'll know why.LOL!!!!

Lisac gets on her "high horse" about the Osbornes and yet admits she doesn't watch it. At least Kelly watches The Batcheleor.

Hi Lisac & RnKnS:
Regis & Kelly had a pretty good chat. But like I said yesterday, Regis can sit next to a monkey and when he's on, he's on.
Enjoyed listening to him speak about the b-ball game. New Jersey has quite the team this year, however they've had horrible seasons prior to this one. Glad Regis was talking about it--the Arena is a great place. And the "thing" REgis was talking about (before Kelly interrupted) that "hovers" is their own dirigible. It's great. It hovers throughout the entire Arena and at different areas it drops gifts down to the people. Great fun-- Also wanted to add, besides Jason Kidd, Keith VanHorn is an unbelievable player. We use to go and see Kerry Kittles play while he was still in college--glad he stayed in NJ.
I think it's pretty funny that when Kelly was telling us Mark and Michael went to the Nets game the other day, she included that "now because they're in 1st place, Mark loves going". I'm curious to know if he supported them in their "dry" years like the rest of us! lol
BTW, when Regis started talking about the Bachelor, Kelly said: "oh Lord"--(audience groans) and then she says to them "thank you". I don't think she was going to own up to watching if Regis didn't keep yapping about it. Why didn't she quickly say, me too or so did I? lol Then when Regis continued, Kelly decided to "join in the fun" and say that she watched. lol
Book Club---I like they way they took a "right turn" and are now calling the beach trash reading segment the Ripa Readalong or whatever they're calling it. lol
<lisac>

Can you imagine being the author of the book they pick? And having it referred to as Beach Trash? Hopefully, they'll check with the author, and hopefully, the author will have a good sense of humor lol
(I'd say the author should be happy, because this might mean that many people will go out and buy the book, but judging many of the "new LVE viewers", I'm not so sure lol)

Vlanj-get a life. Why must you and all your side kicks take EVERYTHING Kelly says so seriously. I believe that she was kidding when she threw in the first place about the Nets. However, even if she wasn't kidding what is the big deal? How many American's jump on the band wagon of a team EVERY SINGLE YEAR or even EVERY SINGLE DAY just because the team is doing good. Why is it with you guys that what is good for the goose is NOT good for Kelly. Again, get lives. LIVE is a form of entertianmnet and if you are going to analize everything that Kelly says and does then you need serious help. You and all your friends that don't know anything!

Lisac,
Well today I thought I heard Kelly say that one of the books is a mystery. So, I'm thinking maybe a "higher up" suggested they put the kibosh on the sleaze, trashy reading. Although Regis sure did get a kick out of talking about the Beach Trash. Heard Gelman in the background say it's not beach trash, but rather "light reading". LOL

Reege, I have a request. I'd like you to calmly, thoughtfully, rationally, and intelligently (?) telly me what I've said about the Osbornes that isn't true. Since I haven't seen the show, I have only been going by what I've been inundated with throught the media and on this website. If you've read any of my posts with any comprehension at all, you will see that what I mainly take issue with is people (like Kelly and, in People Magazine, Henry Winkler, to name just a few) saying how "normal" this family is and how they're "like every family in America." That's my beef. That, and how I can't believe somebody like Gelman wants to attach himself to that show in any way he can. He looks desperate to attract the teeny bopper/college crowd. Is it a good show? How do I know. Some of what I've heard about it sounds funny. In an "I can't believe this" way.
<vlanj>
04-23-2002, 02:05 PM
It's just that Lisac. Funny in an "I can't believe it" kind of way. That's exactly what we say here throughout the show---"oh my gosh, I can't believe it!" lol
The editing, like RnKnS posted earlier, is really good.

Lisac- I agree with Vlanj somewhat. It's entertaining in a "I can't believe it" sort of way. But there are also aspects of it that are very normal. Ozzy and Sharon have an unbelievably great relationship with Jack and Kelly. They can talk about anything with their parents, which I think is great! Sharon and Ozzy have an obvious love for each other and for their "babies". Ozzy reminds me of my dad in the way that he's always calling for SHAAAAARRRRRROOOOOOO NNNNN to find something for him. Do they curse a lot? Yes, and that's probably not normal for most of us. A curse here and there is normal, saying F*** every other word is not. Does my dad slide his feet along the ground because he took too many drugs and can't walk right now? No. My dog only messed on the carpet as a puppy and then once in a while, she'd have an accident. But with 7 dogs and 2 or 3 cats, who would have time to train! I personally like the show because it cracks me up and is entertaining and because there are aspects I can relate too and then there I the "I can't believe it" aspects. It's a show you have to watch to be entertained, not as a documentary.

Pat Boone was once the Osbourns' neighbor and when they interviewed him he couldn't find anything bad to say about them.

Lisac, I will "telly" you exactly what I meant by my post. You talk about Kelly getting on her high horse about the Bacheleor, well you constantly get on your high horse about the Osbornes whenever anyone posts about it. Yet, you have yet to watch it. Do you always base your opinion of something on what you hear about it? Wouldn't you rather use your own eyes? As for reading comprehension, obviously you didn't read my post with any.

That's not what I'm looking for. You can do better. You didn't even answer the question. Grade: C-

stephanie--forgot to say good post. I'm not saying I would dislike the show. What bothers me is..I know, blah blah blah. Even I'm sick of hearing myself talk about it-- lol

Lisac, This is what you posted to me "Reege, I have a request. I'd like you to calmly, thoughtfully, rationally, and intelligently (?) telly me what I've said about the Osbornes that isn't true." This is what I posted to you "Lisac gets on her "high horse" about the Osbornes and yet admits she doesn't watch it. At least Kelly watches The Batcheleor." WHERE in my post did I even say that anything you said about the Osbornes isn't true. Why SHOULD I answer your question when I never accused you of saying anything about the show that wasn't true. All I've said is for not watching the show you talk alot about it. You can't deny that, so don't try to spin it around on me. I give YOU an F for reading comprehension.

Lisac- If you gt MTV, I really think you should try watching it. Just make sure you're in entertainment mode!! It should be on tonight at 10:30.

Oh, Reege!!!!!!!!!!!!
Silly, silly, Reege. I've never posted anything about the Osborne Show. I've posted my thoughts about the media/viewer opinions and their twisted views about what is normal about American families etc. If being upset that a show is being held up as the best show in America, and every other work is the F-word, then I'm proud to be upset about that. Nobody has the strength to stand up for what is right. Everybody just wants to be "cool". Go back and really READ my posts and you might (might) understand.
Stephanie-**0:30 is past my bedtime lol. I promise, one of these days, I will watch the show.

Gee, Lisac and Vlanj must know that I am right. They aren't even responding to my posts!! Could it be that finally they admit that they are wrong?
This thread is about the show isn't it? Gonna go on that premise, anyway..
Really enjoyed the show today - but then what's new...;0))
The give and take in host chat was great, their body language spoke volumes...
Don't think there's any doubt it's a very friendly relationship. I had a permanent grin for almost the entire hour... Always better when they both are there...
Re the Nets... How did they do last year? Kelly said she had not been to a game this year, but had been last year.. Sounds like Mark is a long suffering Nets rooter, and this year he is really being able to "enjoy" being a fan.
Can't say I can generate any enthusiasm for b-ball (Is that how it's referenced now?) I lost interest when the women quit playing half court and the free throw area ceased being called the "key"... The rules changed so rapidly to accomodate the really big guys, I found "golf" more interesting... LOL..
Gotta hand it to Kelly, suffering through even part of the Bachelor last night... I tried, I really tried.... Gotta keep current, to keep up with the show... Could NOT take it! Watta crock comes to mind... ;0))
Intend to try once more to get through all of the Osbournes - gotta hear that "Shaaarrrron" just once.. I didn't turn it off last week, just fell asleep (maybe it was all that moonshine we drank at the truck stop...whatever..)
Don't know why the book club segment is drawing so much flak.. Reege is the one going for the "beach trash" theme.. Don't know why some are wondering why Kelly can't read 2 books at one time... LOL Multi-tasking... Wonder why Regis is surprised she can't find time to read a bit at night?? Maybe cause he spends all his pre-sleep "minutes" on Seinfield??
Looking forward to the rest of the week... It has started extremely well.. Now if Regis can just stay put through sweeps, it will be a good month...
;0))
PK
PS - Hey Sandy... Don't you have a Regis quote from your last newspaper TV section? I could try to quote it, but don't want to mangle it as I did Kelly's qquote about Regis from the View yesterday.. (close, but no cigar... LOL)
<JustSandy>
04-23-2002, 07:49 PM
Found it.
The Free Lance Star
Fredericksburg, Virginia
Sunday April 14, 2002
Television Section:
Regis on Kelly:
"She has that special something. There isn't an insincere bone in her body, and it shines through her face like a beacon."
I think that is not a statement made by someone that had to put up with her. Sandy
Thanks, Sandy...
Again, I would have been close, but no cigar...
Looking forward to tomorrow.
;0))
PK wondering if she can stay awake for the Osbournes tonight... Gotta hear "SHHaaarrooooonnnn" just once..
