View Full Version : Oh my Gosh..........

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly....what are you doing to yourself? lol She's nailing herself into her own coffin. lol
To RnKnS:
You MUST watch All of today's show. (if you can) Towards the end when they bring in the guy who has Regis' phone. He comes running into the studio and Regis greets him, all excited, and asks his name. WATCH REGIS' FACE AS KELLY ASKS THE GUYS NAME OVER REGIS. Regis is definitely losing his patience with Pippa. She is constantly talking over Regis. Gosh, stop with the interruptions already.
Regis' interview with Drew Carey was great---he asks interesting questions and lets the guest run with it.
<Reege>
05-22-2002, 09:03 AM
Vlanj, Where were you yesterday when Regis was so rude and obnoxious to Kelly during the book club segment? Why weren't you saying Regis, Regis, Regis, what are you doing to yourself? He was RUDE the whole day yesterday....the John Deere Hat guy, the "too bad we don't have a better show today, since there are important people in the audience comment", the book club segment. Regis was talking over Kelly during that segment and took over the whole thing when it should have been Kellys segment. But, no comment from you on that, huh? I think Kelly should be the one losing patience with Regis. The only thing Regis cares about anymore is himself, and if he is not the center of attention, then he acts like a baby! (And this is coming from someone who has always liked Regis, but he annoys me lately). I am glad that Kelly interrupts him, otherwise he wouldn't let her say or do ANYTHING! You thought Regis's interview with Drew Carey was great? You thought his questions were interesting? Enough said.
Ditto on Regee's post.
I thought when I heard that cell phone being picked up and the guy saying that his daughter had found it
and wanted her dad to find the rightful owner "well that is a "normal person"Regis...maybe your thinking will change a bit now and
you will start treating*regular people*a little nicer".
Maybe Kelly knows Regis's track record lately with normal people and
thought that at least one of them better be nice.....and she shook his hand,welcomed his ,and asked his name.Bad Kelly,what were you thinking being nice(to the man that took time out of his schedule to bring the phone back and place in *his heiness's hand).

Hi V, I saw that look to and thought "oh gosh." Definitely a look of total frustration. What I was "amazed" with was how she constantly talks with her hands and the amount of chair slapping and hand clapping when she was explaining the new book! Speaking of which, she basically said it's "all about me" when she said it's the chronicle of a "woman in love with herself." Can't say I was too impresssed with anything on the show, thought Kelly showed some signs of intelligent life in that little blonde head when she gave kudos to Reege and his exec. prod. skills. But the whole interrupting thing with the guy on the phone and then when he was in the audience left me cringing. Oh, and one more thing, as you watch the interview with the guy with the phone, look how she does her Rainman dance when she's speaking--rocking side to side. What the heck?!?!
<Reege>
05-22-2002, 09:17 AM
Too bad gailsie, if Regis gave a look of frustration. He deserved it after the way he acted yesterday. Nice to see you have your magnifying glass out today.
<lisac>
05-22-2002, 09:22 AM
After watching Kelly on today's show, I think Gelman and Regis should use their superior executive producing skills and demand that Kelly drink no caffeinted beverages before the show. The part with the man returning the cell phone was almost unwatchable because she was constantly interrupting both him and Regis--ahd the book announcement was the same. She was shouting, she was waving her hands and arms--way, way too high strung.
By the way,-- liked her outfit (if you were going to the mall or to the movies)--but who wears high heels with casual capris?
<vlanj>
05-22-2002, 09:23 AM
That's it! The look of FRUSTRATION! lol Poor Reege. Well, he probably keeps thinking: Only a few more days, then off on another vacation! lol
<Reege>
05-22-2002, 09:26 AM
Sorry to interrupt your little chat here "ladies" but about the part of the show where the new book was announced, WHY did Regis unveil the book? It should have been Kelly...another example of Regis's ego. HE has to be the center of attention. Maybe Kelly was waving her arms (so YOU say, I didn't notice, but then I don't have a magnifying glass) to try to say "HEY, this is MY new book announcement, NOT Regis's". Regis, try and act more mature.
<RnKnS>
05-22-2002, 09:27 AM
Will watch today and let you know what I think. Will be taping. I've seen Regis give her a few of those looks during host chat over the last year.
For all who think Regis needs to be nicer to the little people: Bottom line is, he tells a story very well and that makes me happy! He's a hoot.
<vlanj>
05-22-2002, 09:27 AM
Enjoyed the comment by Gelman to Regis concerning Joy's phone call. lol 'Joy will talk to you at home' lol
And...........also thought it was cute when Ms. Pippa was saying,
"tell Joy I want to talk to her"------Like that would make a difference. Oy-vey. lol
<vlanj>
05-22-2002, 09:31 AM
RnKnS,
You are absolutely right in that Regis can tell a story: there is a beginning, a middle and an end. And usually, very funny.
PS I think this look of "frustration" tells it all. IMO lol
<Reege>
05-22-2002, 09:33 AM
There is a beginning, a middle and an end to Regis's stories? You think so? HOw about when he forgets what he is even talking about sometimes? Nice to be in your dream world, I guess.

Please excuse my ignorance, because I am new to this message board, but why is every one so nasty to each other?! Why can't everyone respect each other's opinion and not let it turn into mean name calling? It is really funny if you think about it. Everyone is cruel to each other over Kelly Ripa - a person who none of us really knows or talks to on a regular basis. We are being mean to each other (people we actually do talk to) over a celebrity! Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy Kelly Ripa on Live and the constant nitpicking of her does get tiresome, but everyone seems to get so heated about the discussions over her that it turns into pure rudeness and name calling. I hope I haven't overstepped my boudaries or offended anyone, because I really do want to be a part of this message board but am almost afraid to post an opinion (whether it be good or bad of Kelly Ripa). Again, hope I didn't offend anyone!
<gailsie>
05-22-2002, 09:48 AM
Hi Debbie, nice post and you certainly didn't offend me. Glad to see someone else that can share their opinion but yet remain civil. Did you see the show today? What did you think?
<vlanj>
05-22-2002, 10:02 AM
Hi Debbie,
No offense taken on my part either, it was a good post.
<stephanie>
05-22-2002, 10:12 AM
Debbie- I totally agree. No offense taken here either. I just wish people weren't hypocrites or had double standards. You gotta be fair to both Regis and Kelly. They both have positive attributes and flaws. It's just some people only see the flaws.
<mackey>
05-22-2002, 10:12 AM
Debbie ~~ Welcome. Good post~~ and you made a very valid point. kelly could care less about our reactions to her behavior, and for posters to come to verbal blows over a show is silly. Do keep posting,
<Jinh>
05-22-2002, 10:23 AM
Debbie -
Agreed nice post.
Sometimes the nit-picking about Kelly gets even more than tiresome...it becomes irritating and mean.
True Kelly could care less - but the things they say sometimes go beyond the limit and it becomes very difficult to hold your tongue.

Still waiting "ladies"...
To what do you attribute the fact that "Live with Regis and Kelly" is alone among the top 10 talk shows in NOT losing viewers this year?"

Debbie, a very insightful and diplomatic post. All factions seem to agree. Now that's a start!
On the subject of Regis and Kelly, I absolutely do not think he has to feel badly about yesterday.(other than the John Deere comment...that was ignorant) He seemed to be doing what was planned during the bookchat. If there wasn't sufficient time, then so be it. Not his fault. I have seen many an interview monopolized by Kelly's joking around about silly stuff. I never expected her to apologize to a particular celebrity's fans because they couldn't get a decent question asked, or answered. That is her style...sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't.
I did see the "look" that Regis gave her. We all know he can get testy, but on the flip side, his general playful, affectionate way with her indicates otherwise to me. He touches her, he calls her cute nicknames, and his smile
seems genuinely warm. The body language between them has totally changed the last month or so, since he straightened out that whole Millionare mess. Kelly is not a very relaxed person, and she was getting on his last nerve during that period.
They were making me tense for a while there,(not clicking at all) but now I am enjoying them again.
<Reege>
05-22-2002, 11:59 AM
Scoops, you and everyone else seems to be missing the whole point about Regis's behavior yesterday. You say sometimes Kelly monopolizes an interview with a guest and never has to apologize. Well, thats a totally different situation. This book club discussion should have been Kellys segment. It is her book club. Regis never even read the book. He should never have been sitting at the head of the table., and his behavior added NOTHING to the segment. Like was said before., during the Regis remembers segments last week, Kelly was respectful. It just seems that Regis acts like a spoiled brat when he is not the center of attention, in my opinion. And I LIKE Regis so I really do NOT like to see him acting like this, it disturbed me., I could hardly watch yesterday.
<vlanj>
05-22-2002, 12:11 PM
....., I could hardly watch yesterday...........
So then, change the channel. JMO, I'm just offering the same advice some posters keep telling some of us.
Just wondering if the guy with the John Deere hat was also wearing work boots and a flannel shirt......(only kidding guys) I don't think REgis needs to apologize for his remarks, but it was kind of odd he go on about the hat. lol
<Scoopsplus>
05-22-2002, 12:14 PM
Point taken Reege, I do agree it was Kelly's segment. But, I really don't think they just go out there and "wing it". Don't you think some planning is involved? That is why I am sure it was agreed upon by her, beforehand. She loves a good comedy bit. Just take the question she asked the panel. why aren't any of you mad about that? It was silly too. If they gave the actual discussion more time, many may have overlooked it's problems. I didn't read the book, so it didn't matter as much to me, how in depth it got. I apologize for that. For me it was fun. Maybe now that they have found out how seriously this book club is being taken, they will adjust accordingly. Hey, it was just the first time out for them. I don't understand why people aren't more forgiving of the time constraints, and flavor of the show.
<Reege>
05-22-2002, 12:20 PM
Vlanj, that post wasn't for you...what was that you were telling ME about watch that I don't stop suddenly? And the reason I could hardly watch yesterday had NOTHING to do with not WANTING to watch. I could hardly watch because I felt EMBARRASSED for Regis, he was making a complete fool of himself. Don't take my words out of context and try to spin them to mean something different.
<lisac>
05-22-2002, 12:22 PM
Scoops, I posted yesterday about the fact that one of the only questions Kelly asked the panel was "how would somebody try to kill you"--(to which Finola said "take away my clothing allowance"--but that's besides the point lol)--I mean, I wouldn't exactly call that a great book discussion question.
Reege, I respectfully say, I think you'd best get over Regis' behavior yesterday, before you have a heart attack. If it was that bad, Kelly would not have talked about his great producing skills today lol. It obviously didn't bother her.
<Reege>
05-22-2002, 12:23 PM
Scoops, I agree, it probably was planned ahead of time. But I don't think the way Regis acted was planned. I think he carried it a bit too far. And like I said it was embarrassing to watch.

<Reege>
05-22-2002, 12:30 PM
What vlanj and lisac, I can't post my opinion? Who do you two think you are to tell me what I should "get over". You both constantly post about Kelly over and over again day after day. The same things all the time. Maybe you should "get over" your problem with Kelly, lisac, before YOU have a heart attack., and I'm not saying that respectfully.
<Reege>
05-22-2002, 12:33 PM
I don't get it, why can others post about things constantly and not get told off. Yet, I reply to posts on here and get put down about it and told to give it a rest. And mackey, yes it is a beautiful day out, but I am not the only one on the computer right now, so why did you feel you had to say that to me.
<lisac>
05-22-2002, 12:38 PM
V--just saw your comment about the John Deere hat--
I think the reason Regis was talking about the hat was because he was in a fancy New York resterant, and you don't usually see men in a really nice resterant wearing any kind of baseball-cap style hat. The fact that it said John Deere really had nothing to do with his story--it could have said "John's Plumbing Service" and Regis would have told the same story. It was because the guy was wearing a baseball cap, and probably wasn't dressed as nicely. I agree the way he acted about the "average Joe" talking to Regis was a little insensitive, but I understood the story, and I understand his humor. V, I'm sure you go to nice resterants regularly, as do I--you just don't see guys wearing baseball caps there!
<lisac>
05-22-2002, 12:41 PM
I think I spelled resterant wrong, but I'm too lazy to look it up lol
<Lola>
05-22-2002, 12:41 PM
Didn't Regis say he saw the guy walking down the street yelling "Hey Reege"? Thats what I thought he said, but then again...
I didn't have my miracle ear on like some so.....
Sigh...
<Lola>
05-22-2002, 12:43 PM
We're low class, but you don't even know how to spell RESTAURANT?
ROFL!!!!!!!!
Pot meet Kettle.
Once again...thats RESTAURANT. LOL
<Reege>
05-22-2002, 12:45 PM
Lola, I didn't have my miracle ear on either, so I don't know. But then again, I don't go to them nice resterants regularly either like Vlanj & Lisac do. LOL!

Reege -

(And trust me, mine gets thicker by the minute)!

Restaurant was misspelled in my post on purpose. Just wanted to say that before someone points it out.
<Reege>
05-22-2002, 12:49 PM
Jinh, Thanks. I guess my skin isn't that thick. Some people on here just strike me the wrong way. And I can be stubborn, when I'm trying to make a point I tend to repeat myself.
<Scoopsplus>
05-22-2002, 12:51 PM
Lisa, do you think Finola is a bit caught up in her appearance? lol As you pointed out, I think her answer to Kelly's question says it all. They were told that this was going to be a fun discussion. She was answering according to what she was informed the "mood" would be.
Also, on Claudia's Emmy bit, did you catch her answer to what style her ensemble was? I can't remember exactly, but it was something like, Manhattan casual chic. It came off sounding pretentious.
<Jinh>
05-22-2002, 12:53 PM
Yes, I heard "walking down the street,too" not in the resterant...LOL!
Another prime example of lisac hearing what she wants to hear - seeing what she wants to see...
sigh
Jinh (resterant - too funny!)

The John Deere comment was definitely NOT made inside a restaurant. They were walking on the sidewalk when Reege saw it. Yes, he owes any hard working, common laborer an apology. The wearer could have been a farmer who supplies food that Regis eats, or is a mechanic who repairs the big man's cars. He'd better be careful who he insults because one of them may decide to get back at him in a way he won't like. And gee whiz, the wife of the hat wearer was Bernadette Peters and she obviously wasn't embarrassed to be seen with her husband wearing the Deere hat. Reege needs to come out of the clouds and see how the real world lives, not just the millionaires like Trump.

Remember back when Kelly 'insulted' the Apple people?
She sure heard about it!
I wonder if the All-mighty Regis will get the same from the Farmers and Ranchers that drive John Deere equipment or even the company itself?
Probably not.
I still like the idea someone here had about passing out J.D. hats to the audience.
Would be funny, indeed!

<Scoopsplus>
05-22-2002, 01:14 PM
What it all comes down to is that neither Regis or Kelly is perfect. It is a live show, mistakes are made..as our friend Dick Clark said. Hard to take something back after it pops out, and sometimes it doesn't play the way it was intended...like the apple thing. Boy was that misinterpreted. A brief apology would be nice, but I don't think they will do it. If they are deleting any mention of it over at their site, Gelman must be in fear of legal troubles again.
<Debbie>
05-22-2002, 02:45 PM
Scoopsplus, I totally agree with you about the book club chat thing. I finally got to watch the book club chat on my tape, and I didn't think it was that bad. Well, actually it was kind of bad. Regis should have let Kelly lead the discussion more, because he didn't even read the book. However, I think Regis was just trying to be funny. Granted, it might not have been funny at all, but I don't think he was doing it to intentionally mess up Kelly's first book club chat. For that reason, I don't think he owes Kelly a public on-air apology for the way he acted. I'm sure he heard about how unhappy everyone was about how the discussion was organized and maybe he apologized to her privately. It really didn't seem to bother her nearly as much as everyone else! This is their first time having a discussion. It can't be expected to be perfect the first time. A few things need to be ironed out, and I bet Regis will talk less and Kelly will talk more for the next book's discussion - at least I hope so!
<Jinh>
05-22-2002, 02:52 PM
Well, I guess that some of us that bought and read the book right-off-the-bat, were dissapointed. I guess we took it too seriously, and expected too much.
Silly us.
By the way, no one has mentioned Regis' comment today about "It's Kelly's bookclub-I'm staying out of it" right before the 'unveiling' of her new book.
I thought that was nice, and feel better about him today - I don't think he would deliberately do anything to hurt Kelly.

Here it is Texas, it could be the President of the USA, the President of a University, the millionaire oilman or the guy selling cold drinks at the baseball game. Caps are worn by all, not just the working man.

Lace-
What can I say?
Kelly's bookclub is a huge success!
The show's ratings are great- only talk show with ratings not falling!!!
Jinh
P.S. Just saw Kelly on E.T. announcing her new book selection.
Yeah, Shel...
And I'll betcha big time that Bush, Sr. and Jr. have worn both the Deere, and the Cat caps (Kelly did, BTW, knew both of the logos and remarked to Regis about them...She did not make an issue of it, though...)
Shame the "Big City Folk" can't take a cue from the laid back Texas attitude - nobody is better than anybody - but "size" is important... LOL, your dog, your truck, your rifle, your football team, and your "cap".....
