I noticed at the Live site they pull your comment every time you bring up the John Deere hat. Oh well, I guess it's because they know that no matter how upset people get they still stick around. I feel Regis does owe an apology to everyone not only his rudeness over the hat but the book club. But, I think they don't care about the fans as long as they are making their millions. We ordinary citizens put these stars up on their pedestals then wonder why they act so arrogant. Regis is a snob, unfortunately we helped make him that way.

Well, Regis better stay away from "farm and ranch country" that's for sure!
They'll make him milk a cow or something!
(Can't you just see Reege milking a cow!?) "Gelman! It's mooing at me!" "Help!"
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny Jinh! lol Or maybe The John Deere Co. will sue him, just like the cattle ranchers did Oprah? Tractors and ride-on mowers, circling the courthouse. lol
Seriously though, I do agree about that particular comment. It was wrong. Struck me the same way as Kelly and the handicapped standing ovation jokes. So, I guess he won't be apologizing either. Their policy seems to be to just move on, and not focus on any particular gaffe.

Funny Scoops!
I agree with you, it wasn't a kind remark - but I've seen him do that quite a bit. Remember the poor guy that won a dinner with Regis from Chicago? It was embarrassing the way Regis talked about him - I thought so anyway.
Yes, if they apologized to every one of us that had a gripe-well, that's all they'd be doing... Regis: "I would like to apologize to all the John Deere hat wearing people out there and to the poor guy I made fun of the other day, and..." Kelly: "I would like to apologize to all the people wearing leg braces and all the apple growers, and"...
It would cut chat awful short!
LOL!!!!!

I would like to weigh in on my interpretation of the John Deere hat story. The punchline of that story was the fact that the guy was "Mr. Bernadette Peters"....Reege was making note of the irony of the First Lady of the American Theatre being married to a guy who wears a John Deere hat around Manhattan. I thought it was cute! No offense meant, no offense taken.

SO what, that degrades her in some way? OMG, how dare he wear a John Deere hat. What was he thinking?
No one I know wears one on a regular basis, but why knock the people that do?
Jinh, I remember how rude Regis was when it came to that dinner with the winner. He was downright nasty. He probably made that poor guy feel like a piece of crap. King Regis...having dinner with a regular hardworking guy...oh the thought!!!
Any of you who can't see that what he did was wrong are probably just as rude and nasty as he has been the past few days.
It's a pity.....

Lola- I was thinking the same thing. What's so shocking about a theater person being with someone who wears a John Deere hat? Should that be "beneath" her?

Sounds like Regis is back in one of those moods. Wonder what happened?
In the part of the USA I live in, all the mem wear this type of cap, maybe Berandette is married to a TEXAN. I find it interesting that you all keep referring to it as "hat". A hat goes with a suit, for everything else you wear your cap (this is the way it it down here.)
The only problem I have is that men seem to think they never need to take them off, just keep those suckers on all the time.

That would be MEN, not quite sure what a MEM is?

I'm not defending or condemning Regis for the comment. Just making note that he saw the contrast as funny. You will have to ask him if you want to know what he feels is wrong with a John Deere hat.

There is nothing wrong with wearing a John Deere cap but I wouldn't want my husband wearing one in a restaurant especially in Manhattan. And when I think of Bernadette Peters I just don't picture her with a man who would be wearing a John Deere cap.

It's me Vi. Just want to use my own name.
Anywhooo. How is everyone?
First of all. Regis did John Deere a favor. Everyone will now be going out to find a John Deere cap. LOL I grew up in a place where EVERYONE had one. They are actually pretty cool green caps with yellow writing. This entire thread has me so tickled. What he said didn't hurt my feelings a bit. It was a joke. Just like most of the show. It's light entertainment. The John Deere dealer down the road from where I grew up, if watching Regis, would have laughed his ass off. He would have wondered about someone wearing a John Deere cap in NYC, too. I think that it was Regis' way of talking up his good friend Bernadette. It brings her name into the limelight and Live! is a good show to have your name said on for publicity. Great way to bring her into the conversation without making it obvious.
Oh and the reason I stopped lurking and started posting again...
I definately see Bernadette with a guy wearing a John Deer cap. LOL

Hi, Sweet Vi. Good to see you :)
Didn't here the whole story but gentlemen don't wear caps or hats while eating no matter what part of the country you're in.

Up yonder here in Michigan they are called hats.
My husband wears one all the time. I think most men who wear "hats" are going bald and think that women won't like them that way so they try to hide them.
Question: Cowboy hats; ten gallon.........hats? with a suit? Hmm
Regis has been taken care of for so long he is surrounded by the upper eschalone and they all wear suits and what not. I think he was just surprised about the hat in the big city.
I can see some ignorance in him as far as being a snob but I don't think he would hurt people on purpose.
His mother is always there telling him the poor farm is just around the corner.....I am sure he has better values then what appears
