Because we did mention this last Fall, I want to say for anyone that has not heard it, that a skeleton has been found in Rock Creek Park, in DC.
There were woman's clothes and sneakers found in the area, and it is believed to be the remains of Chandra Levy. DNA testing has been done, and hope fully there will be preliminary results this evening. Sandy

Oh how sad, Sandy. Thanks for the news. Hoping for some peace for her family after all this time.

Something is so sad about this whole thing.
I just caught the parents of Chandra on Oprah, and it was filmed earlier today before the news broke. They are sitting there saying how they still keep up the hope that they will find her alive. It is especially sad to watch it and know that a couple of hours later, she was found. Sandy

Chief of Police Ramsey is saying that right now on tv. They are also saying that there is doubt that she was killed at the site, but rather dumped there at some later date. Rock Creek Park is roped off and they are doing all of their Forensic work, tonight and tomorrow. He said that the pattern of the clothes looks like they were thrown there. I sure hope they catch the SOB that did this. There are still two other deaths in the DC area of interns, at the Congress, and the Bank, that have never been solved. All of the girls were little with long dark hair. Sandy

That's horrible. I'm sure it'll be all over the news out here in California too.

Interesting - I never heard about the other two girls. I didn't pay too much attention to this case. Or I should say, I didn't pay more attention than I would have any other missing person case. I really thought it was way over- done because of Condit, and felt sorry for the hundreds of thousands of people out there that are looking for someone, and no doubt resenting the publicity and attention the Levy case was getting.

I find it strange, that the last entries on Chandra's computer, were looking up this park.

It was as if someone called, and told her to meet them there. Or, someone called and said this is where we are going to go, so she looked up info on it, so she would know where she was going.

That information about the last entries in her computer was made last year, right after she disappeared. Now, they find her body where it looked like she was going to meet someone?

For her to look up the information on the web, would be just what any other young woman her age would do, if she were not familiar with the area.

I really feel like she was either taken there by someone she knew, or she was meeting someone she knew there.

I guess my real big question is , why was she looking up this particular park on her computer?? And why was this where, after a year, her body was found???

MamaCat, that was my observation, too. The fact that she looked that place up before she left that day was so telling. I just hope that the detectives can ferret out what story her looking that up actually TOLD.

My mother & father actually went to Rock Creek Park on their first date, and I remember the zoo there, from my childhood. How sad that Chandra Levy's life apparently ended in that area.

Gary Condit lied about having a romantic relationship with Chandra. If this never amounts to anything else, the fact that he lied about ANYTHING that he may have known about this young woman's life is just WRONG!

Glad that his constituency voted him out of office this year!

OK, stepping off the soapbox.....

Although her parents suspected this outcome.....how terribly horrible and sad for them. The death of a child is devastating to a parent, but in this fashion, devastating.

Mamacat, the park is 1,700 acres with rugged areas. Coincidence they found her there, I think not. Maybe, her body was thrown there after the search of the park ended.

I wonder how much they will be able to piece together?

Bookfan,
How Condit ever thought he could win another election, is beyond my comprehension.

Arrest in Chandra Levy Case 'Imminent'
Sources Say Authorities Focusing on Salvadoran Immigrant Who Proclaims Innocence

Washington Post 2-21-09

The parents of slain intern Chandra Levy said this morning that D.C. police officials told them late Friday night that an arrest warrant in the eight-year old unsolved murder case is "imminent in the next couple of days."

In an interview with The Washington Post today, Susan Levy, Chandra's mother, said that she was told by D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier and Lt. Michael Farish that the department had made a breakthrough in the case.

Sources with knowledge of the investigation who spoke under condition of anonymity told The Post that police plan to arrest Ingmar Guandique. The 27-year-old Salvadoran immigrant attacked two women at knifepoint in Rock Creek Park around the time of Levy's disappearance in May 2001. He was convicted in those attacks and is serving a 10-year sentence in federal prison in California.

Levy said Lanier told her "in all her 19 years of police work this is really big, 'We really came down with a break.' They're very proud."

Susan said that she and her husband, Robert, were still processing the information.

"It's a bittersweet relief," she said. "Not that we'll ever get our daughter back but we need the truth."

Local television stations in Washington and California began reporting late Friday night that an arrest was coming soon.

I've always resented the press for 'convicting' Condit...they ruined his career.

Now they're all quite about the Condit aspect of it, but they should be ashamed of themselves...and so should the public at large.

You're right, Jinh, he isn't being mentioned now that this break has come. I almost had to google to remember his name.

Condit's misconduct is what ruined his career. He was yet another lying, cheating politician.

Hey, Laney, many politicians have weathered affairs...what they did to Condit was reprehensible...they had him tried and convicted. It was totally unfair.

The people he represented chose not to return him to office plain and simple. He should have had the decency to resign. Didn't he lie about the nature of his relationship with her to the police? That's hindering an investigation.

I'm with you Laney....he is a liar and a cheating husband. I wouldn't vote for him...although Jinh is right about some politicians surviving affairs, most do not get re-elected. Look at the Governor of NY...forced to resign in disgrace....he wasn't accused of murder. People don't like lying cheating adulterers....and there is no reason why they should.

Scoops, Spitzer got thrown out on a "technicality". LOL

He just didn't cheat......he had a "hired help" go across state lines. That's a whole different ball game.

Oh yeah....he was bad all around....the other guy too though....I don't remember the exact details, but he repeatedly lied to detectives and hindered the investigation to protect himself and his own family. They wasted a lot of time looking where they didn't need to (obviously)..... had he been more forthcoming it would have helped the case. If I were her parents I would be more ticked at him for that than for the actual affair.

I have more respect for the ones that just fess up...

Scoops, I agree about Condit. As far as I am concerned, he is poop.

What I meant is that if Spitzer had only cheated with an ordinary woman, he'd still be in office. Rudy" Giuliani is a perfect example of what I meant.
