ON ET AGAIN

Saw KathieLee on ET,talking about a baby shower she gave for Taryn.Friends
do these kinds of things for friends.I for one {maybe I'm the only one} who
doesn't see this as national news. Is ET coming to KathieLee for news??

Yes, I think that is what it amounts to. I think it was stated that she has been KL's assistant for over 10 years. I would assume, that that would make one, a very close friend. Even Regis made the comment that she had been on the Live set for years.

Do you have a problem with KL giving her a shower, or is it that you don't think it is newsworthy? I haven't seen anything about Regis doing anything towards helping the people of NYC.( He did mention, when they first came back, that one of the men from ABC, was on top of the tower, with the ABC satalite, when the building came down.) Didn't hear anything about him setting up a fund for anybody.

They(ET) have to get their news from someplace, and Kathie Lee, giving a shower for the girl that lost her husband in the WTC, would be news to some people. It's about "getting on with your life." You know, that type of thing.

BTW, "ET", is not really what you call "National News". I think it stands for Entertainment Tonight... Get it?? Entertainment???????????

I think the main reason that ET talked to Kathie Lee about that shower was because the day of the shower she went home with the gifts and the death certificate of her husband, listing the cause of death as homocide, had arrived in the mail. Someone mentioned it to the NYC staff of ET and they went to talk to KL about the irony of the whole thing. Sandy

.....geez....no good deed goes unpunished! Kathie Lee can't do anything right, even when she's helping a friend in the most devestating time of her life. Kathie Lee is a wonderful person, and is always helping people in need.

My personal opinion on this is at this time in our nation, with so many people grieving, does it really matter if KL did this selflessly or to get recognition? I don't follow what KL does, and I didn't even know about the baby shower until I read it here, but I choose to look at the positive and at the bottom line, which is this poor woman. If it helped her in any way, it was a good thing. On the day of her shower, she was surrounded by loving, supportive people that helped her celebrate her new little miracle at the most devistating time in her life. It was a wonderful thing to do and yes, friends do these things for each other, but KL is famous and I believe it had it's rightful place on ET, ENTERTAINMENT News, however, if it were covered by CNN.....LOL Anyway, like I said, personally, I couldn't care less why it was done, but the important thing is that it WAS done, and I'm sure it helped Taryn. My heart and my prayers go out to her.

Yes but don't you think that KMe SHOULD at this terrible time for SO MANY PEOPLE just once KEEP her do goodmanship to HERSELF. I see it as another form of promoting herself and I can't help seeing it that way, judging from what she's done in the past. She will do ANYTHING to get herself on television even stooping as low to use her friend at a time of crisis. I don't care how famous a person is I have never seen anyone with less class than this and I say it lightly, Lady!

So KL should just say "no comment" when ET chases her down at her next personal appearance? They follow her around like vultures. Obviously someone at ET knows who we tune in to see.

Is that what she's calling them these days? I doubt she'd be at the Lincoln Memorial if she didn't have some attachment to the Kennedy's, and where else????? QVC? LOL

to let the media know when its time for another stint in front of the cameras.

Why does it always look like KL has been "ambushed" by ET, Hard Copy, Inside Edition, etc? She and Regis have joked about them following her around. ET knows she will bring in ratings, which helps them sell ad time, so they put her on their show. Simple economics. Supply and demand. I know when I heard "Kathie Lee talks about her assistant's baby shower NEXT", I stayed tuned! Didn't you?

I didn't see the ET interview the other night, but wasn't it at the Pentagon, where Kathie Lee had participated in that October 11 Rememberance? It was well-publicized that KL was going to be there--

Yes, KL does a lot of good for many, and I admire that. But I think she appears to be exploiting Taryn and her loss for publicity's sake. A classier response to "ambushes" by ET and others would be to say, in a nice way, "you know, guys, this is a really terrible time for my assistant right now, and I don't think I should be commenting about her private pain.". I think I would admire KL a lot more if she would take that approach.

she was on tv for 15 plus years so they of coarse keep track of her and when she is in view or is speaking regardless of what the topic is-people who love or hate her listen as anyone can see by alot of the above-she brings the ratings up. she is too honest perhaps, i've always said she needed a spokesperson. i like her and follow her projects, but i realize everything she does is always going to be picked on-she never pleases everyone-gee do any of us?

yes, lisac and oddball, I believe KL is "guilty" of wearing her heart on her sleeve a lot...these tabloid shows know that and exploit her, knowing she will be forthcoming with a quote they can tease with. you're right, she could keep some of her thoughts in check a lot of the time, but I guess she's just being herself...

Okay "RegisandKellywatcher" I see where you are coming from by your responses and respect your opinion. I can tell that you are seeing it both ways and I like that you are honest enough to admit "in your own way" that she should keep somethings to herself or respond to them a little differently. I hope that you can see that I mean no harm to her and do not "hate" her as some seem to think, I just wish that she would conduct herself in a more selfless manor. Maybe she isn't at all what she seems but she does come off that way. I don't know what to think.
