View Full Version : O/T - Dumb Question
Good morning to all....
Why is it that each time I visit the site it shows me as being online?
If I login to post, do I have to logout when I leave? Otherwise, it'll be showing me as being online 24/7?
Yet, another rainy day in the "Soggy City"!

Hello Mia... No...
The "cookie" is set as soon as you log in, you pop up online...
As soon as you close the window, or break the internet connection, it will remove you from the R&K board online information, I'm not sure about the front page online list. It may have the same 30 minute lag time as the "Who's Online" Page. I try to stay logged in, but the other night when I couldn't post, I did some experimenting, and that is what seems to happen.
LOL, but it MAY be one of those things like trying to catch the fridge light come on and go off...

It is possible there is a 30 minute lag here as well...
Has anyone noticed me blinking in and out just in the last few minutes?
If not, then there is a lag, because I have been lucky to stay connected for 5 minutes at a time this morning. BOTH ISPS are dumping me.. I have had to re-connect after almost every post...
That is frustration...

PK,
Another question: I didn't have to "register" or "login" when I posted. No registering a "username" or "password". Yet, it shows me as having posted on June 6th at 11:(something) pm when I posted on June 7th at 11:(something)am? Shouldn't it have shown the correct date and time? In fact, of this very page, next to my name, it says (logout).
Guess, I am spending too much time trying to figure out the "mechanism's" of this board instead of just reading the posts!

Mia...
You may need to go into your Control Panel and click on Edit Options. Scroll down to the time setting, and make sure it is set to Eastern time, even if it shows it, reset it anyway, and save the options.. It looks like you are set 12 hours behind, or something... Trevor has been fiddling with the options a LOT lately... sigh..
My time is stamping correctly.. I noticed Scoops complained about that yesterday. I don't know if she ever got it straightened out..
If that doesn't fix it, give Trevor a holler..
That login for correct time is supposed to set your cookie according to your option information. Guests are shown GMT, and have to do the math to translate to their zones..
Good Luck...

PK,
I came back on and replied to Jinh's post about Funny Cide. Then, I decided to register. Now, the background on the board is yellow instead of grey.
Wonder if it'll show my right time?
Nope, still shows me as posting at 5:30am!

LOL, Mia...
I hadn't noticed you had not registered... Duh...
Hey, look at it this way, you still have all of Saturday left... Not a bad deal...
The only information I have gotten was the email from Trevor about if after you have logged in, your time is still not right to go in and verify your time settings...
He will be very glad to help you, give him a holler...
Good luck..

All of this "stuff" just scares me about registering!!
Sorry, I guess, I will contiune to be listed as a "Troll!"
I DO wish, Trevor would spell Registration right.
Or for some reason, does that have a meaning?
PK,
Went on "edit profile" and for some unknown reason, I was on Pacific Time. (Guess out in the middle of the ocean since it was a 12 hour difference.) Don't understand why since I registered on Eastern Time.
Anyway, jumped on the Concord and I am back home! (I think!)
Thanks for your help.
