View Full Version : Hillary with Barbara Walters

Anyone watch? I thought it was good....loved seeing those old pictures of Bill and Hillary. They sure didn't look like future President and First Lady back then.

BigKLGfan, I had to wonder if Kathie Lee was watching. I know she spoke more than once of Clinton's magnetic charm when she'd be invited to the White House. I doubt she'd agree with him on much of his political agenda, but she was smitten! I remember her describing his piercing blue eyes, and even his hands, like Hillary mentioned.

I missed it last night. We got in too late. I would like to read the book, although I'm doubting it is as revealing as they would like you to believe.....I heard it was not a "tell all" book, but rather an autobiography up to this point.....probably best to do that!! :)

It was a very good interview! I have not been a fan of the Clintons but I really liked what she said last night, I am also tempted to get the book. She said that the book ended when they left the White House. It is great seeing how much she has changed in looks, the pictures of the early days of them was fun to look at.

Hi all.

I did watch. I'm not a fan of the Clinton's so read the following with that in mind. lol

Was there really any new information? We knew about slick Willy and Monica (and guess what? no right winged conspiracy made it up), so no news there.

We knew, from "insiders" that Hillary was on a rampage the day her husband finally revealed the truth. I remember reading that Hillary was screaming for hours and cursing up a blue streak....(didn't know she wanted to ring his neck, though. lol) No news there...except the neck thing. lol

We knew they weren't talking on their "walk" to the plane for their vacation....heck, who thought the vacation was going to be a second honeymoon?

And, was it really that difficult for Hillary to talk about? I'm thinking the 8 million helped, just a bit.

I was losing interest throughout, but did I hear her still yammering that the right winged conspirators (I think she used a new term) are still out to get them?

The pictures were interesting to see...the transformation was, almost, unbelievable. She looks so much better now, IMO.

(Don't want to get into heavy politics here, just my opinion on the interview.)

Hi everyone,

I wish I had seen the interview-- somehow, I always come away liking her after I've seen her in an interview, even though I don't really agree with much of her ideas/lifestyle/etc.

I am not a fan either. Can't stand Bill, and can't understand why Hillary is still with him. Politically, I think she'd be fine--in fact, I think more women would respect her if she left the dog. BUt who knows maybe I'm way off.

You are right, v, in all of the book excerpts I've read so far, there is no new info. I think the reason she is talking about all of this is 1) the money, obviously and 2) because she knows she has to if she is someday going to run for Pres. (even though she is denying she ever will). This book is a brilliant idea because if/when she does run, she can say "I've already covered all of that in my book--it's old news--let's not rehash again--etc. etc. etc. And even if she doesn't have any plans to run, she is finally answering some of the questions many have had for a long time. Of course, I don't believe a lot of what she is saying, but.....

The transformation in Hillary's looks has to be one of the great makeovers. It's amazing what getting rid of the ugly glasses, a great haircut and color, and a nice wardrobe will do. She looks so much better now. Her speech is a lot better now, too.

Hi ladies, thanks for bringing this topic back up again Sue. Meant to jump on your thread about Hill, lisac.

Several years ago I had an opportunity to brush elbows with then President Horn Dog. (If I'm repeating myself, oh well . . and I was not wearing my beret.)

Anyway, as much as I detest him, I have to agree with KLG that this man has magnetism coming out of the wazoo! I believe the initial reaction is the element of power that he exudes but his physical presence was not to be believed. Again, I detest him for his character and his political agendas but yet I found myself looking at him and thinking, "wow, this guy is . . . " He was much taller and thinner and his hands really stood out, lol.

I can remember telling my husband that the "Great Stain-Maker" has some sort of hex-appeal working because I could see how all these women were attracted to him.

On to Hillary. Nothing that comes out of her mouth is believable to me. With that said, lisac, I agree with you in that each time I see her and listen to her "stories," I come away thinking, "ahhh, she's not so bad." I think she's staying with him because both have just too much invested. Too much trouble to divorce; hang in there and take the good with the bad. Noticed she wouldn't give an answer to Barbara's question "what if he does it again?" Heck, I'm sure he already has.

Shoot, for 8 mil, she could've given something else we already didn't know.

Rushing to watch Barefoot Contessa, so if there are typos, too bad, lol.

As much as I would like to take credit for those posts, I am afraid it wasn't me.
Looks like Trevor has played one of his cute tricks again. All web posters are using that isp, and when you are on the board, no knowing who you will be.
I was posting on the other thread at the same time as that showed up.
I wouldn't be quite that clever to be able to post at two places at one time. I have had a hard enough time getting to post once let alone two at the same time.
I do appreciate someone helping me get my post count high though.
Have a good evening.

Hey V... Hope you are not gonna make a federal case out of this and do a premature dance in the end zone... Remember what goes around, comes around...

This is weird, but funny... Trevor figured a way for the webTV people to post, but evidently if there are a couple on at the same time, the names get all screwed up...

Almost as funny as when AOL decided to allow many to share the same IP# at the same time...

Hmmm... wonder where that kitty on the keyboard antecdote came from... Oh, yeah... Hello Breakfast...

lisac, you mention Hillary's makeover.

Got Time Magazine today; she's on the cover and there's a photo of her inside from the last time she made the cover.

I do believe The First Enabler had a nose job! Her nose now is considerably narrower. Certainly is an improvement over the old nose. Don't think it's the magic of makeup either, lol.

Yes, G... I think you are right, some of us share your views on the X...first lady, and her hubby! It is nice to know that we do agree about some things!!

I do have to say, she has had one marvelous makeover. Even my husband remarked about the obvious changes in her!!! Maybe she used that 8 million, for a once in a life-time makeover!!!!

BTW... she will be on Larry King Live tomorrow night, for any of you that didn't see the BABA WAWA special.

I agree with what you said about not wanting to listen to her because you start to like her. I am the same with him. I don't like him, but he has a certain charisma when he speaks that comes across as likable. I won't buy the book (that's not to say I won't read it -- that's what the library's for!) simply because I don't want to put money in those people's hands!! I still think their marriage is a farce at this point in time, but I certainly don't know for sure!! :)

Joy your day, all!!

Susan, it's funny you should say that because I was thinking the exact same thing what KL said about his hands! I was also thinking that KL and Hillary kind of went through the same thing. I wonder if they ever "compared notes" if you know what I mean. Bill seems to be a chronic offender but I don't think Frank was with KL. Although I wonder if he would have kept seeing that woman if he didn't get caught and she wasn't in it for the money.

Blame? Wow, nobody blamed Trevor for anything. Just stating facts...

Trevor finally found a way for WebTv users to post. Sandy and SuzieQ both have WebTv. Haven't a clue about rubbyrubby or rubbydubby, though. Not registered, for sure. The web users HAVE to log in each time they post. That I do know, so they must be registered members.

Doesn't everyone have to register their name and password every time they post?

I wonder why webbies have to then?

It will be interesting to see who I am this morning. I tried to make sure there was no other webtv person on here before I post.

I love the insuiations that I have posted intentionally as someone else, ever. That is almost as stupid as the person that posted it.

Well, long day today so I will wish you all a good day. I have one of my daughters here from Alaska so I am going to play.

I just received me copy of Time today in the mail...finally.The Hillary issue.
She definitely looks different on the current issue than she did 11 years ago on the cover.I do see the difference in her nose from the 11 year ago pic to today.

"The Humanity of Hillary"article has the timeline of pics and the changes just kept getting better. The eyebrows, hair, and makeup all added up to a very refined, classy look.(looks like she held out the longest on thinning the eyebrows out...lol)

That 5th pic over(for anyone with the magazine) I had to do a double take because I thought that they accidently threw a pic in of the blonde that does the old navy commercials. That is where the nose was changed.

I can't what to read the book excerpt and the article following that I mentioned above.

I do think that she is with Bill for political reasons ,I think that she is setting the wheels in motion to run for presidency...staying with Bill(if she divorced him I am sure she would worry about the impact..as she should because there would be an impact)and the book.
1st female president will be one thing,1st female president that is recently divorced is another.

Okay those are just some of my thoughts on Ms Hillary.............

Jinh
06-10-2003, 11:07 AM
Okay, ever since this thread appeared, I've been saying to myself "tick-a-lock, Janine, tick-a-lock", but, alas...

First of all, Hillary adores Bill. The same way Jackie adored Jack, Eleanore adored FDR, etc... in spite of their infidelities. They were great men.

I know I don't have to tell you how I feel about Bill Clinton...but in spite of all of the (what I consider to be great things he did) I still want to punch him in the nose when I think about how betrayed I felt/feel. I'm sure she did want to "strangle him"!
But, we didn't elect him on the basis of "moral values"...we elected him because we thought he could do the best job being president.

No one can deny that during his tenure as president, things did improve...i.e., unemployment was the lowest in decades, crime rates dropped to the lowest levels in almost three decades---not to mention we actually had a budget SURPLUS!!! (Reagan and Bush Sr. sure couldn't seem to pull that off.)

Now, were getting back into the same old shit...high unemployment, enviromental standards being sent backwards, crime-rate increases, big cuts to health-care programs, etc., and then, low-and-behold - Back to DEFICIT territory!!!

So, when it comes down to it, I really don't care if the President "does it with donkeys" as long as he's doing a good job for the country...it's a matter of priorities.

No human is perfect...and they are just that -- human.

In closing, I want to say that it's such a shame that Bill didn't just fess-up in the first place. He could have just said "Yes, I did it, I'm sorry, it's between Hillary and myself now." Or something to that effect. It would have been 'case closed' - after all, committing adultery is not an impeachable offense.

Oh well, he screwed up, he did what almost every person does when caught or confronted - he lied....what a shame.

Jinh - let it roll - lol!

P.S. The exact same thing applies to Martha Stewart - if she had just admitted it in the first place, she would have only been required to pay a fine - now she's facing - how many criminal charges? Lesson learned - just tell the truth - dang it! lol!

P.P.S. I ordered Hillary's book today - looking forward to it...

"Now, were getting back into the same old shit...high unemployment, enviromental standards being sent backwards, crime-rate increases, big cuts to health-care programs, etc., and then, low-and-behold - Back to DEFICIT territory!!!"

9/11 didn't happen in his term and that lead to a great # of lost jobs and then of course the war affects a lot of the issues you mentioned.

I am not getting to far into anything just wanted to say that.

Also when someone preaches family values and cheats on his wife repeatedly and they have a child it is going to make people lose faith in anything that that person has to say.

<<<<<<<<First of all, Hillary adores Bill. The same way Jackie adored Jack, Eleanore adored FDR, etc... in spite of their infidelities. They were great men.>>>>>>>>>>

Clinton a great man? I don't think Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, etc. etc. (I'm forgetting a bunch of names) would say that.......

Speaking of character, what about Whitewater? Vince Foster? pardoning all of those losers at the 11th hour, especially Mark Rich? I could go on and on....... blech.

ALso, the more I hear about the Barbara W. interview--Hilary wasn't asked any tough questions, not that I'm too surprised. For example, I'd love old Hil to explain how she believed Bill until the day before he was to testify--the dress "results" had been in long before Clinton was to testify, not to mention lots of other evidence--again, I could go on and on.......

Susan
06-10-2003, 01:09 PM
Jinh,
I'm sure Hillary appreciates in Bill his intelligence, drive, charisma, humor, stewardship, great looks, etc. etc. etc. Let's face it...he is a great catch. If she were to leave him, I'm sure she realizes she would miss so much about him, so much so that it makes her stay. The counseling can't have hurt! I liked what she said about his being a "sin of weakness"....not of malice.

Laney, I'm glad they didn't fade into obscurity in Arkansas, nor would I have expected them to. They are way too young and driven to "retire." They have too much left to accomplish. I am grateful for people like them who work hard for the public good, no matter the party.

Gailsie, how do you know W hasn't had his own "sins of weakness"?

Anyway, just wanted to tell you Jinh that I didn't miss the point.

Hi Susan,
About Bill's "sin of weakness," I thought that was Hill's spin for a very embarrassing situation. First of all, he cheated on her not once, not twice but throughout their marriage; and in public! She had to be totally humiliated. Secondly, how nice to compartmentalize it in a nice little category: sin of weakness. That kind of makes it easier to swallow, no pun intended, lol, for her sanity and for the public. A sin of weakness; call it what it was. He continually lied to her AND his daughter. To my way of thinking, that's malicious.

Regarding GW, absolutely he has weaknesses. The primary one that he's fessed up to already and that being his alcohol abuse. I admire him for recognizing a problem that jeopardized his family. He chose the high road. I'm sure there are other sins of weakness in his life just as there are in all of our lives. I believe GW to be a strong man both in character and in faith; two things that are very important to me.

OT--who will be in for Jillian tomorrow? lol

Well, let's see, gailsie....first of all dubya didn't "come out" with his alcohol problem on his own...it was disclosed by the press. So, so much for "being the better man".

Secondly, did Chelsey ever get busted (twice) for under-age drinking? NO...

Once again, though, most of you are missing my point...
...this isn't a soap opera - this is 'like IMPORTANT stuff' - health care, economy, environment... real life stuff that's important to real life people!

Bush Sr. lost by a landslide to Clinton...why? Because Bush wasn't doing a good job!

The end...

Thanks for the responses, Jinh, Gailsie and Laney....

Good article today in USA Today about cheating spouses. It's debatable, but it says most stay together, otherwise we'd have an 80% divorce rate.

I believe Hillary's minister suggested the "sin of weakness" thought, and it worked for her....

G, I believe it's Wanda Sykes tomorrow, and Fran Drescher later in the week? She could be fun, haven't seen Fran in a while.

<<Sorry, but I think the only people that they work for the "good" of is themselves!>> Totally disagree. Thought they did a great job.

Don't like the man, don't like the woman. Don't think the great state of Arkansas wants them back. (Call me a Dixie Chick, but I am embarassed he is from Arkansas..)

I do think he was a good president - one of our better republicans... <grin> But "things" were already in motion well before he left office that would lead to our current economic decline. The economy cannot sustain a rally for that length of time...

The Dot.com explosion that continued to fly in the face of all common sense had finally run it's course while Bill was still in office, and was a major contributor to what followed...

This did not "just" happen since GW took office, the rose colored glasses had been in place for a long time. Billy Boy, got out just in time. I don't blame him for the economic problems we are having now, nor do I blame GW.

The beast is an independent entity that feeds on the fears of the paranoid... The personal computer can share in the "blame" for our current situation (which, thankfully, is turning around..). It made Day Trading possible... The ultimate gamble, which certainly destabilized the market a bit in it's own right...

Jinh.. I noticed you didn't mention Nixon in your list of presidents who should be "excused"... He was not aware of events as they took place, but lied about them after the fact, as well...

I wonder... If Bill's, were sins of weakness, how tempted he might have been to exchane a bit of classified information for a chance at a choice morsel...

LOL, There's that big old OX again..

I never said or even implied that George W. has a "halo"--not even close. I don't even know the man. None of us do.

As for his daughters--didn't he stop drinking when they were born? Or very little? If you had kids, would you tell them about your "indiscretions" before they were born? I thought psychologists were always saying that you shouldn't burden your kids with your past???

And forgive me, I should have said the first seven years Bill was in office. The last year or so he was good, (as far as we know)-- probably because he knew he was under a microscope twenty four hours a day lol

There's no way you can win a " personal character of Bill Clinton" vs. the " personal character of George Bush" argument. At least not in my world.

Speaking of 'rubbing elbows' with Bill...
I'm sitting here looking at a photo of my sister and nephew with Clinton in the Oval Office...it always cracks me up because my sister looks like she's going to pee herself - Rolf!
Just too funny!
