I wanted to tell you that we are getting our large mouth bass tomorrow.

With all of this rain, we found 2 of our grass carps in the "run off" of the pond. Of course, they were dead. It made me sick... They were huge! (doing there job for sure!)

Do they reproduce? Should I go ahead and get a couple more? Do you know? (ha)

Why is my PK and OT appearing as Pk and Ot.

LOL

Oh well, sorry! :)

Uh... when you said why is...

LOL, I was busy looking to see if you were listed as being someone else... After what happened on that other thread.. I don't know why the caps turned into lower case...

I also don't know about grass carp for sure... How many were in the pond to begin with? Is there a visible problem with the grass? What other fish are in there? The bass will eat some grass...

I would suggest you wait and see what happens.. Too many may keep the pond too bare of vegetation.

Oh, I can already taste the bass... But I found blue gill and catfish fillets done on the grill are better than I ever imagined...

Sounds like your pond/tank/lake is off to a wonderful start.. Our catfish are sulling - maybe spawning, so there has been no catch for a while... Rats, had to get some out of the freezer..

;0))

PK, the county agent (or someone) told me how many grass carps to get for the size pond it is, and I can't remember exactly, but I think when I get a chance (and when in the world will that be!!??), I will call him to find out for sure.

Yes, we have some "ick" on the edges, but NOTHING bad. We have fertilized it, which helps, but we think the rain moved that on out when it rained like cats and dogs. :(

I agree with you about kind of waiting it out to see how the pond itself reacts to them being gone.

I envy you already having access to yours. It will be a while for us, but I swear, I don't think I will want to bother them when the time comes!!!! LOL

Okay, lloonngg day, better run...thanks!! :)

Hey congratulations PK on being the "top poster"!!! LOL

And the good news is you're miles ahead of your next closest competitor so your title will probably be safe for awhile! Haha

Mxy...

Perhaps that's not the honor you think... LOL

Beware, this place CAN become addictive, with too much time on your hands, it could happen to you..

I note your IP indicates Houston... We lived in that area for 20 years, and never intended to leave, but here we are on the wrong side of the Mason Dixon Line..

;0))

PK stretching the lead..

Well ya know PK, I like it alright down here, I mean sure we have scorching summers but I'll take that as long as that means we'll have the mild winters to go with it!

The main thing I have a problem with is the air pollution...it's bad...

Shelseeker is from there, too, and has the same complaint..

Maybe getting out was a good thing after all. We only had a paper mill to worry about when the wind came out of a certain direction...

LOL, but that was about 20 years ago..

;0))

PK, I just got back with my bass. THEY ARE TINY!!!!!!! The guy told me that I shouldn't replace the carps as long as the pond is still clean. They are big now, will eat more, and be fine.

Did you know they live for up to 20 years????? I guess that is as long they don't go over the spill over!!!! wwaahh!!!

Oh well, just a little FYI. :)

Hope everyone is having a great day. :)

Well from what the politicians and spin doctors keep saying the pollution has supposedly gone _down_ here over the last 30 years or so???

Don't know how much I believe it though... it's so easy to twist facts to fit your agenda...

Hey MsPiggie, just want to say sorry I didn't mean to hijack your thread here, hehehe...

Just mainly wanted to congratulate PK on her number one status.. although she doesn't seem to think it's so much an honor, lol...

Well, I certainly don't own the thread...so you help yourself!!!! :) :) It is probably better than talking fish!!! ha!

OK thanks, I just try not to be the one who brings a thread off-topic...

However once someone _else_ changes the subject then I often don't have a problem with picking it up and running with it, heheh

LOL...

Any resemblance the last post in a thread to the topic beginning it, is purely coincidental...

Well, shame on me, I didn't say thank you for the congrats.. Thank You...

I was hoping for some really insulting label from Trevor for busting the 300 mark, but instead, he toned them all down..

MsP... Glad you got your question answered. How's the minnow population? (hope the bass are a little larger than they are, lol)

;0))

Hey, something smells a little "fishy" here...(sorry, I couldn't resist...I don't like not being invited to parties and have never done well with that!!! Must be the youngest in the family thing...)

Joy your day, all!!

Welcome. Air pollution is bad, I am lucky I live on the island, so breathe air off the gulf, most of the year.

Pollution seems to be much worse in the summer months.

Have you been getting the nice rain? It has been so long since we have had a thunderstorm, I really enjoyed the last two days. Of course, the air should be better also.

No, I will never, ever catch up with PK, she is the Leader of the board. ;o)

Hiya shelseeker, I assume you're saying you live in Galveston? That's such a nice town... at least they preserve some of thier historic buildings unlike Houston... gives the place a lot more character... The only thing I'd be afraid of though living there is hurricanes...

Yes I have been really enjoying this rain and the cooler weather that came with it! Especially since it's fairly light rain and nothing really major... Heaven knows my lawn is thankful for it, lol
