Kelly Ripa
Age 32
The part: Faith, a fired soap actress who moves in with the family of her sister, Hope (Faith Ford), in ABC's "Hope & Faith"
Debut: Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. on WLS-Channel 7
Where you've seen her before: Ripa replaced Kathie Lee Gifford as Regis Philbin's co-host on "Live With Regis & Kelly" and spent a dozen years on ABC's "All My Children."
Bottom line: Everyone claims the role of Faith--whose soap character was murdered by her evil twin, who then committed suicide--wasn't written with Ripa in mind. But this sitcom is banking so heavily on Ripa's appeal that the entire cast and team of producers is moving from Los Angeles to New York to make it with her, so she can plug it each morning with Regis. Recasting means several scenes in the original pilot will have to be reshot, including her food fight with Ford. "I still remember the moves, too," Ripa said. "Mustard, ketchup, chocolate, whipped cream, spit, water, fall to floor."
