Well, gee...

I'm gonna need some help on this.. The whole show was so good, I can't remember everything...

Regis was in a good mood, and feelin "frisky". He said he forwent his morning nap and got a good night's sleep (maybe Regis is reading this board... <grin> He saw the women's tennis match last night at the open and went on and on about Capriati's strokes (think it was her). They talked about the grunting that always accompanied the strokes, and Kelly related the commercial with Monica Sellas (the grunt queen of tennis) where she grunts doing every little mundane thing about getting a glass of orange juice, or something, complete with grunts and hand motions..

Regis talked about Yankee game, Kelly said Mark was there. They talked about the pro ball game and the Jets narrow loss. Kelly explained why she likes pro ball, it's the "costume" the wear... The shoulder pads tapering down to the narrow... She used hand gestures. She said add the helmet, and you don't really care what's underneath. She said women don't watch to see the Budweiser commercials of girls wrestling..

He talked about the ND game tomorrow, Kelly "sorta" promised to watch it, but drew the line on "All Sports, All Weekend" cause she was attending the wedding of one of the Live Staff - evidently an older lady..

Regis started ragging on Gelman about his new wardrobe, his long legs, and the number of buttons unbuttoned. Kelly said Michael was starting school in that very same shirt.

Then he ragged on him because their little girl was enrolling in pre, pre nursery school, 2 days a week. Regis bragged that he never even went to kindergarten. Kelly was flabbergasted, and wondered if Kindergarten had not been invented yet.. Regis said they had it in the public schools, but not the private schools.. (I don't think kindergarten was offered when I was that age, but I might be wrong - I was still 5 when I started 1st grade...)

Kelly said now that Michael is starting school that she REALLY feels like a parent. It hit her at the picnic they had on the rooftop school playground, cause it was still too wet in the park. She is sure she has turned gray overnight, and osteoporosis (not the way she pronounced it, though) has probably already set in..

Regis remarked that it's still hard to believe she has three kids.

They had fun with the Rellies, Regis grumping and Kelly trying to get him excited. Since he was being such a grouch, she said SHE would make the acceptance speech for both of them.

At one point he abruptly said he was done, and Kelly told him he was getting grouchy and she wanted the lighter Regis back. She said he started downhill when he could not find some papers on the desk that he wanted, so he lightened up again..

He showed a SC helmet from Lou Holtz and wished him good luck tomorrow against Virginia.. Not sure that will sit well witn Stephanie...

Trivia caller just missed the wild, was a croupier in Atlantic City. She spoke with a accent, but I could not place it. Regis asked her if she was a friendly dealer, cause he didn't like thos grumpy ones, it's bad enough they take your money, seemed like they could smile once in a while. Kelly said Mark always asked the dealer how he is feeling... If he doesn't like the answer, he finds another table...

She won the prize - Bitter End in the Virgin Islands $5600 value. They gave away $500 in Omaha steaks to the audience member. Not a very large crowd today.. (I wonder if they are going to give $500 every time, or only when the caller wins??)

That's my "book"... Someone fill in the gaps, please...

;0))

"Kelly said now that Michael is starting school that she REALLY feels like a parent."

I watched so I can officially respond. lol

Where does Kelly live?

She said her son was going into FIRST GRADE & I wondered if she meant 'getting back to school' rather than "starting a new school year?" In this day & age, I thought ALL kids went to Kindergarten?

Oh and you left out the whole segment with Wilmer "Villa-whatever the hell his name is" from 70s Show fame.

And they ooohed & ahhed over how handsome he looked & gabbed about his apt. that does NOT have a lava lamp... in case mom shows up.

His sister is visiting NYC for the first time & she looked out the hotel window & liked the TALL BUILDINGS.

Great review, PK!!! Now I won't have to watch the show ... LOL.

Sounds like it was "Live" then, huh? And those commercials that Monica does are priceless. Haven't seen them in a while.

Mel,
Kelly lives in SoHo in Manhattan. They just moved there over the summer. He did go to K last year, but he's probably switched to a new school closer to them.

Hey, Mel...

Isn't "First Grade" the Milestone? That's what I took it to mean.. Really actually School.. Michael has been in both preschool and kindergarten.

Kelly and Mark "did" a loft..

Luckily DKLA didn't need info on the rest of the show, or I would still be typing..

I remember the original Lava Lamp and wish Mom had not fianlly tossed it all those years ago... Expensive little thingies back then.. It sat on our TV for years, blurping along in aqua goop...

Glad you tuned in to Live!...

PK you forgot what I thought was funny. When Regis was talking about his rich friends and Kelly said, "don't you know any poor people?" I thought that was hilarious. Then he said of course and Kelly said "who?" and he couldn't come up with names.

I wonder if Regis do socialize with anyone poorer than Donald? LOL

Susan

I liked when Regis was making fun of Gelman's chest hair and Kelly said there are women out there who watch the show to see Gelman. hehehehehe

I remember when I talked to them on Trivia and I said I love Gelman and she called me a "Gelmaniac"....too funny.

PK...
09-05-2003, 09:14 AM
Yeah... Forgot that one, and Kelly said you are the poorest person you know...

LOL, Susan, I guess you are not alone, then.. I like that he is being included. How would describe his grin? Cat eating a canary?

There is a description from my youth, similar to cat/canary, but with a bit more embarassment.. It has no place here, though.. <Cat eating a canary, but embarassed grin>

Wonder if we should take any bets on when he approaches the desk again, as he did with that magazine??

Susan - Kelly called you a Gelmaniac? I didn't realize that you won while Kelly was on! When was that?

I think it's fun the way they play Gelman... the same way David Letterman, Jay Leno and Caroline Rhea do with their band leaders...perfect 'straight men'.

Like he going to ANSWER that?! Thankfully, he was smart enough to draw a blank & say nothing.

(PK)
"Isn't "First Grade" the Milestone? That's what I took it to mean.. Really actually School.. Michael has been in both preschool and kindergarten. "

Around here, Kindergarten is a real as 1st Grade.... not even a nap time!

Jinh, yes, Kelly and Regis were both there when I won. It was in December 2001.

Susan

Totally agree about Gelman as straight man, Jinh. Paul Shaffer is my fave, he isn't even much of a straight man anymore, he's hilarious in his own right.

Hi Susan -
I love Paul too - what a great musician, and like you said, very funny!
Have you ever watched Blues Brothers 2000? He has a part in it that's very funny - the concert at the end is worth it's weight in gold!

Hey, Lisac...

Not to be "picky", but Kelly doesn't drop names of "wealthy" people.. Didn't the comment come about because Regis was in So and so's "Suite"??

Mel...

Times they have a changed...

When mine were in Kindergarten, it was only a half day - which complicated MY day..

Then that was a LONG time ago...

I think Michael's Kindergarten was a "good" one. He and Jennifer Connoly's(sp) boy were in the same class and are good friends..

Forgot... When Regis mentioned the pre, pre nursery school, he also said it only cost $50,000 a year - at which point Kelly suggested they both get out of the talk show business and open a nursery - They could clean up.. What a couple boxes of crayons and some paints?

Hey, are you gonna watch again, or was once enough...

PK- About Regis wishing Lou Holtz and South Carolina good luck against Virginia tomorrow- that's fine by me. I'm a Virginia TECH fan; definitely not a Virginia (University of) fan. Although nect year, we'll both (VA Tech and VA) will be in the ACC so you always want your conference to do well. But until then, GO Gamecocks!!! (South Carolina). On the east coast, they're actually known as USC.

Susan, I didn’t see your post earlier about SOHO. Thanks for the info.

$50,000 for Nursery school? I don’t know why people want to live in NYC.
Crazy!

PK, I like Regis, I always did but I have to tell you, I preferred Kathy Lee as his sidekick. Their relationship seemed much more natural but I guess that develops over time. Kelly seemed to be “TRYING” too hard.... it didn’t seem at all comfortable to me.

But I DID love that dress she was wearing.... simple elegance. (I just hope she was wearing clean undies. hehehe)

I have a friend who sends her 2nd grader to private school in the village for 18000 a year. That does not include school bus and/or lunch. We knew people who applied at Dalton for Kindergarten and the tuition in 2000 was 20,000 for Kindergarteners.

GO VOLS!!!!!! We are playing Marshall (who?) tomorrow.

Thought Fresno St. was going to give us more of a run for our money last week... hum...hate it for them!! ;)

Mel
09-05-2003, 05:53 PM
I sure hope so, PK.

When my son was ready for nursery school, I looked at various schools. One private school in Suffolk county was something like $10,000 for only a few hours a day. (Maybe they served Russian caviar on Goldfish for snacktime? lol)

I don't believe such a high tuition means your 4 year old is going to be better prepared for Kindergarten or elementary school.

I don't either Mel, it just means you're hob knobbing with the rich people. Just like Regis? Only with Regis, we constantly hear the big names of whom he spends his leisure time with.

That really doesn't bother me though, I like Regis and I don't think he really means to come across that way. Probably he wants to let viewers know that the wealthy do the same and enjoy many of the same things average people do. And a lot of those people are his age, so why wouldn't he hang with 'em?

Which is also why I like Kelly better. She has many of the same opportunites, but she enjoys spending her free time with family. I like that, but I am family oriented.

I like when Kelly drops the name of Gretchen Randolph, Willie's wife. I'd love to know more about how they came to be friends. The Randolphs seem like they'd be quite a bit older than the Consueloses. I bet Regis would love to hear some inside stuff about the Yankees too, his favorite team. I also enjoy hearing about Finola and Russell but she doesn't mention them much anymore.

<<I like Regis, I always did but I have to tell you, I preferred Kathy Lee as his sidekick. Their relationship seemed much more natural but I guess that develops over time. Kelly seemed to be “TRYING” too hard.... it didn’t seem at all comfortable to me.>>

Interesting thoughts, Mel. My take is that Kathie Lee was more of an "equal" to Regis. But there is no doubt that Kelly has a very loyal fan base that enjoys her immensely.

I like when Kelly drops the name of Gretchen Randolph, Willie's wife. I'd love to know more about how they came to be friends. The Randolphs seem like they'd be quite a bit older than the Consueloses.

The Randolphs live in Franklin Lakes, NJ where Kelly and Mark had their house in NJ. Kelly mentioned last fall that they stored some of these things at Gretchen's house. Regis asked if they lived near each other and Kelly said that they were one street over from theirs.

Did anyone noticed how upset Regis got (he was looking around for some card) when he was talking to the girl from the show who sits in the isle - I think her name is Shulle or something. Kelly said something like she clams up whenever Regis talks directly to her and Regis replied that "She made another mistake thats why" and then he went to say that he brings alot stuff down and its never there.
I noticed that Kelly tried to play peacemaker with that.

09-06-2003, 07:30 PM
RKFAN, the person at Live you mentioned is Lori Schulweiss(sp). I 'm glad Kelly maybe took over Kathie's role of peacemaker. That was one of the reason's why the staff was very upset when KLG left. She was the one they went to when they had problems with Gelman and sometimes Regis. I know the media wanted to make it out like the staff disliked KLG and love Regis but it was the other way around. They felt like they couldn't talk to Regis about Gelman because of the "buddy thing".

Susan
09-06-2003, 07:39 PM
Hey, Bigklgfan, good to see you!

Did you know Michelle James? Kelly was going to her wedding today. She works on the staff but they didn't say her position. She isn't the makeup gal, is she? Wasn't that Michelle Champain?

bigklgfan
09-06-2003, 09:58 PM
Hi Susan! I always feel bad when I say something about Gelman because I know how much you like him! Anyhow, I never heard of Michelle James on Live. I know Michelle Champagne is married butI think she still goes by Champagne(sp). If it was Michelle C. I would think KLG would be there and Regis. Maybe you'll hear about it on Monday.

PK...
09-07-2003, 05:00 AM
There was no indication that either Regis or Gelman would be there. Regis was going to be watching full time football...

They did comment that she waited a long time to get married..

;0))

PK

whatever
09-07-2003, 07:27 AM
I bet you Regis wasn't going to the wedding because the couple is not rich enough for him to attend their nuptials. But if it was the Donalds, he would have gone in a NY minute. LOL

Susan
09-07-2003, 08:54 AM
BigFan,
Don't ever feel bad about saying anything about Gelman! I've seen him work a couple of times and let's just say I can see where he might rub people wrong at times. (I know you've seen him work many times too.) He is intense, and, as much as I hate to admit it, I'm sure the attention Regis has given him over the years has gone to his head a bit. I'd much rather hear your take on things than have you worry about what you say about the Gelmonster. ;)

Anyway, I'm not sure how much of a peacemaker Kelly is, but it sounds like she did try to smooth the way a bit when Regis lost his cards and tried to embarrass Shullie. I hate when he does that. I used to also hate it when he would make fun of Gelman, but now I love it. But when he berates the rest of the staff, it looks bad. JMO

I wasn't sure who Michelle James was either. Hopefully Kelly will show pics and tell about it tomorrow.

RKFAN

I remember Kelly mentioned that Michelle James was the Costume Designer last year. She said that Michelle told her it was time to move into maternity clothes - it was like mid October and Kelly was still wearing regular clothes.

Susan
09-07-2003, 09:07 AM
Thanks, RKFAN! You have lots of good information. I didn't even know R&K had a costume designer! Did she also work at AMC?

No doubt the wedding was BEAUTIFUL....

RKFAN
09-07-2003, 09:15 AM
Susan, Thanks.

I don't know if she works at AMC. I just remember Kelly saying her name. Kelly will mention the staff from the time to time and I just happend to remember Michelle James. BTW, Kelly mentioned the other day that Diane (their hair stylist)had a little girl. Diane is that cute little boy, Grant's mother. He has been on the Halloween show and one time he was watching the show from the side near where Art Moore sits and Regis had the camera pan over to him.

Susan
09-07-2003, 09:21 AM
Hi RKFAN,
When I was at Live, Diane came in the front door with Grant in his stroller, as we waited in line for standby. He's a doll and Regis has been so fond of him since he was born. I think I might have caught the end of that announcement about his sister being born. Did they name her "Tyler"?

RKFAN
09-07-2003, 09:28 AM
Yes, they said the name was Tyler.

Regis does seem very fond of Grant. He seems to really like Michael, Kelly's son. He was surprised that Michael was going into the First Grade - he called him a sharp kid. I thought it was funny when Regis told Kelly that Lola was getting better looking everyday.
