....this week in my local newspaper TV guide, there is a looooong article about Hope and Faith. I know people here would enjoy it but I can't find it online. Under the author's byline is "zap2it" but I looked there, and nothing. It talks about the Halloween show coming up this week, what Kelly and Mark plan to do with the kids that night, and some things about Ted McGinley really missing his kids and wife.

While looking for your article I came across this...it's from over a year ago, May 2002 but I thought it was kind of interesting/different from our usual articles. lol
Never heard another word about her being a gay icon since...I think Cher, Madonna and Bette Midler have that area locked. Of course they are more the gay male icons...hey who is the real lesbian icon now that Xena warrior princess is all over?

Regis Philbin's sexy sidekick Kelly Ripa is the newest star in the lesbian universe!


KELLY was a hit at the recent Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Awards in NYC.
Married mom Ripa delighted a camera crew from the public access show Dyke TV with her pro-gay attitude at the GLAAD Awards in New York City.

"Kelly embraced us," gushes Nancy Swartz, a producer who interviewed Ripa, 31, at the event, which honors positive gay images in the media.

"The minute I told her we were Dyke TV, she lit up like a lightbulb!"

Ripa, who co-hosts Live! With Regis and Kelly, attended the ceremony with her hubby Mark Consuelos, 32, the father of her two kids: Michael, 4, and Lola, 11 months.

But she didn't miss a beat when asked by Dyke TV, which is broadcast in the U.S. and Canada, whom she would date if she were gay.

"Kelly wasn't threatened at all," says Swartz.

"She thought for a minute and then shouted: 'Madonna! I want Madonna to take me to Chinatown!' "

Sources say that far from being jealous, hubby Consuelos got right into the spirit of things.

"After Kelly revealed her dream date, Mark chimed in: 'If I were a lesbian, I'd have a crush on Kelly Ripa!' " says Swartz.

Ripa, who also stars on TV's soap All My Children with her husband, can expect her popularity with gals to grow following the August airdate of her interview on Dyke TV.

Swartz predicts it will earn Ripa hordes of lesbian fans, who will then tune into Live! And AMC.

"Kelly totally related to dykes," Swartz explains.

"When I went back to the Dyke TV offices, I put the tape of Kelly on, and everybody loved her!

"Kelly stole the show at the GLAAD Awards. She has emerged as the woman lesbians love.

"She's our new icon!"

Industry insiders say the star who replaced Kathie Lee Gifford on LIVE! Is thrilled to be liked by lesbians.

"Kelly's straight," says one source, "but she loves the idea that she's becoming an idol in the gay community."
