View Full Version : What bugs you?
Doesn't it bug you when the hosts claim they use "every" cosmetic, skin care, and beauty product they present. How could every line be their favorite. Do they think we're clueless? What bugs you?

Well, let me say this.... When the host says she "Loves" this or "Loves" that.... Lisa R. LOVES everything... so I really can't say for sure if she really Likes anything.....Her credibility is somewhat diminished, because she says that she just LOVES- LOVES -LOVES ,whatever she is selling at the time...SO I never go by what she is saying.....and some of the gals say " I own that"... well maybe they own some things.... but they would have to have one big house to store all of the things they claim they "own"..
But it is all part of the selling game, I guess. and they are after all, just salespeople...

Very interesting question, aloe! dialog is a biggie with me. from lisa r's LOVE LOVE LOVE to pat calling everything "phenomenal", i wish they'd watch themselves to hear what we hear. perhaps then, they'd refine their approach.
the thing that perhaps bugs me the most - susan graver is such a camera hog. why doesn't she just let the models model, and the host host, instead of trying to control the broadcast the way she does. she walks into everyone's shot. she walks in front of people on camera. she interrupts the hosts. she preens whenever she's on camera. i don't/won't watch her anymore because i can't take her. and if you check out other threads, her stuff isn't nearly as great as she says it is.

I have purchased some of Susan Graver's clothes.... they are terrible!!! I sent them packing.. I have not heard anyone complain about this item. but I think that the Breezies underwear,is a bad fit.I ordered the correct size. but the panties seem to be the same back and front.. and the bras?? while they are pretty, they do not have a smooth fit under T-shirts... I have purchased both bra and panties.... bad move.... I'll go back to Gap Body thank you...or Victoria's Secret!!!!!
I hear you, Yankee, about Susan Graver. She really bugs me to...seems like she went "hollywood" years ago. I once saw her on with Jane Treacy and it was obvious that Jane couldn't handle working with her. Jane could get a word in.
When they're presenting cosmetics, I always pay close attention to the "before" and "after" shots. The "before" pictures are always dull, obviously taken with poor lighting, etc. And the models are never smiling.
On the subject of Breezies, I've not been happy with them either. Seems like the cotton briefs run big. When you add in shipping, they're pretty pricey. I'll stick with Victoria Secrets.
Anyone every try Spanx?

doesn't that make you feel like they think we're all stupid? at least respect me enough as a consumer to be straight with me! if the makeup doesn't make that much of a difference under like circumstances, don't assume i won't buy it. don't change lighting, hairdos, and even the model's countenance! i mean, my God, it's makeup. not plastic surgery! if i'm shopping on the tv for a miracle, you should be selling me therapy!
oops. this is me stepping down from my soapbox, now.

Yankee, since you're vacating the soap box, I'll climb up now ... Okay, what perturbs me is when a host or vendor is rude! Ricky D. can be dismissive to callers. I realize some of the callers are not the sharpest knives in the drawer, but they DO deserve respect. Haven't these people (hosts/vendors) ever heard of the Golden Rule? (Stepping down from the platform....)

Hi Everybody, this is my very first post. When I read this topic I HAD to respond. I'll tell you what really BUGS me. On one hand a host will say that they are not allowed to order before the customers get a chance to order. Then the next show host comes on and says Oh I just HAD to order before I came on. What's up with that? There are many times I've heard this back and forth and it BUGS me. I don't care if they get to order or not. What's the big deal? Aaaaaahhhhhhh! That feels better.
I also agree with carly and aloe about Susan Graver. Yack yack yack! I'll keep thinking I'm sure there's more. LOL Thanks for listening. :-)

Actually, I have heard hosts saw that and I think the reason they can't order it is because they get a discount. QVC would rather haver a customer pay the full amount than a host pay less. I feel sad for the host when they saw the item that they wanted sold out, but I wish they wouldn't saw that. It sounds is if they are trying to sell the item by saying that. People trust the host, so a customer might buy it if the host likes it. It would do the host good if they didn't say that. Then maybe it would be less popular.

There are a few things that bug me. First, when QVC is doing a cook show and selling non stick pots and pans, I have NEVER heard a warning from them about how the non stick material in the pans could kill a bird if the pots get too hot. When I purchased my bird, the store told me to get rid of all my non stick pans because it could kill birds, not to mention what it could do to our human lungs eventually. Also, it gets me crazy when the host and the guest are talking at the same time. Why don't they both be quite and just show the product. Half the time QVC is not even showing the product and we are just watching the two talk. Finally, QVC host, please stop staying you are sooooo happy to talk to the customer and sooooo happy the customer purchased the item. I'm sure the only thing you are soooo happy about is that you have a job!

I just saw Jacque with lori Greiner last hour, and Lori was doing her room fragrances. When the presentation ended Jacque started talking about the PreZerve jewelry case that she was going to present next hour. Lori has some anti-tarnish jewelry box also, and I think hers are better. QVC could've talked about the product earlier when Lori wasn't there. That was rude, although it is not Jacque's fault.

The "Breezies" bugged us too! The bras were impossible to get on without performing some sort of contortionist act. I assume, from they way they are constructed they are bullet proof. Although, much good that will do ya when you have to send them back because there is no flex to them. I prefer good old water bras, thank you very much. At least they make my looked stacked and the water just might really slow down a speeding bullet.
yankee
04-03-2004, 05:59 PM
hey, HHIgirl...i don't think they're bulletproof, but they just may be strong enough to stop a speeding casanova! (or at the very least, unattractive enough!)
some of them look like sleeveless straightjackets, which i suppose is somewhat of an oxymoron. (you know, like 'senate ethics'?)

I think the Breezies bras are good for working out and for women who are expecting. Those are the two times when you are looking for that extra bit of support. I am speaking from experience since I am six months and still getting that workout in every day. Hope this helps.
As for the panties...ordered the TSV some months ago. Three came in the pack and you got two different styles. The one fit fine, the other two were too big. I almost thought they sent me two different sizes. I don't think I will order those again. I really should send an e-mail to Kathy Gendell about this isssue.

hey, sunshine. first, congratulations. i am so happy for you. babies are the coolest things in the whole world. i wish i could have 12 of them. and i think it's great that you're working out and taking good care of yourself.
i think letting kathy know about your breezies experience is important. how can we ever expect products to be refined and improved if we don't offer feedback? this could have been an error, but doesn't necessarily represent a quality issue. this will give them the opportunity to check out your claim to see if they need to adjust their measurements or cutting techniques. that shows you care about the products you buy, as well as about other consumers.
it's good to get involved!

what bugs me?...well when QVC is selling clothes and they never give the size...they say "order quickly because this is going to be a sellout" but they wait until the very end to give you the measurements of the garment (somethimes they are not always QVC sizing)...then the other thing that bugs me is not everything is QVC sizing as they say it is....."just look at the chart and see where you fit in" does not always work....drives me nuts
Don't want to throw in a monkey wrench here but I do like the "breezies" undies...can't say I like the bras though..the high cuts with the spandax are nice..a little pricey perhaps but I am not picking at them all day (if ya know what I mean)

I am so with you on the sizing debacle. I wear a 2P and NOTHING on QVC fits me. Even the extra small is sized for, well just not sure. I just stopped ordering clothing from them. Wasn't worth the return postage I have WASTED! WASTED I tell you! QVC owes us! Maybe they should credit all of our accounts with some bonus bucks! Just imagine all the BE and Philsophy we could buy!

The last few times, I went to the UPS store and had things insured. I called customer service and they told me the policy has changed and the no longer credit you for shipping back. I even called the President's office, no luck. More and more I don't even want to order for fear of the return ordeal. I sure do miss weekly packages!
yankee
04-04-2004, 06:19 AM
wow. guess i haven't returned anything in awhile. i'm sorry (and disgusted, frankly) to hear that. it's one thing to stop crediting postage for abusers of the privilege, but quite another if an item just doesn't 'fit' one way or another. they shouldn't BOAST about their return policy if they're not going to be fair about it.

I don't know if it is just me, but I think the quality of their customer service has vastly detiorated in the past few years. when i call, the first thing i ask for is the person's name, and whether they have a direct extension number. when they ask why, i tell them i've been "disconnected" in the past, and if it happens again, it's so much easier to call back and deal with the same person. (they may or may not get my point, but when they know you have that information, they are less prone to "disconnect" you.)
seems to work, too! they're a little more courteous when you speak to them using their name.

if ups delivers the item, you can request a 'call tag' and ups will pick it up. they issue those for people who don't have a ups nearby. if the item isn't delivered by ups, they won't do that.

On a serious note, have you thought about trying Dermablend for your scars? I have not tried the products, but have watched some of the programs and am amazed at the coverage it provides on the face of the stunning blonde woman who represents Dermablend. I have seen a product that was developed specifically to address scars on the body. The Dermablend Representatives have stated that the coverage will hold up in heat and humidity.

we're talking some uber-huge surgical scars, here--1 to 2 inches wide by 6 to 8 inches long. i'm actually grateful for the scars, though. if the surgeons hadn't been as aggressive as the scars seem to indicate, i wouldn't be walking today. i just wish those cute outfits came as separates or with the choice of pant lengths!

Yankee, sister...I am in the same boat with the scar issues. And like you, if it wasn't for the surgery I wouldn't be walking. I had a hard time with the dermablend but I am really fair. In fact translucent would be more appropriate. I scare small children. There is a new scar cover out and now I am drawing a blank. Shoot..sorry about that. When I can recover that part of my gray matter I will post it.

HHIGirl...nice running into you this morning! How was your holiday? It's dreary here today...raining and overcast...you'd think they would give us good weather over Spring break...geesh :(
I saw Patti Riley at Indian Market (I was not there for the Q show, was visiting a friend)...just so happened I saw her on the street with Carolyn Pollac and 2 other people, then saw her in a restaurant the next day also (small world isn't it)
At that time she was not a size small...I would say medium for sure, top and bottom. She is not that busty, but she is broader in the back and shoulders, and arms are somewhat chunky also. She is hippy, and a bit bottom heavy (I think they call that "bootylicious now)
In any case, this is not a criticism, it's just a description of the way she looked. She has a darling face, and a nice smile too.
