Me too..
Dani~
I believe him to a point.....a previous co worker of mine knew her from Boston....started there with CK and then of course NYC. She certainly seemed like a troubled woman but my ex co worker spoke so highly of her. Who the heck knows.

funny I just came here to ask your opinion of the interview. I had some trouble when he broke down believing if he was sincere or not. I don't know why but something seemed not right to me. What do you think?

I didn't get to see the whole interview, just the last twenty minutes. He obviously had very strong feelings for her.
The crew at GDL was discussing Bergin yesterday and really slamming him during the part I heard.
I do think this.....Carolyn, in some of her pics, looked worn down or hung over or something.
He does sort of resemble John also.
I may read the book.....just get it at the library. I have always had a fascination with the Kennedys.

DKLA I am going to get the book today. I like you have the same fascination. I think I have read just about every book on them. Did you read Jackie Ethel Joan..I realy enjoyed that one.

Dani~
No I did not read that book.
You have a good one too!!

I have lots of little Kennedy tidbits...this is Kennedy country after all.
Anyhoo, you might get a little kick out of this one.....one of my patients was a very sought after Boston caterer. She was hired to do a function at Joe Kennedy's home, and they specifically requested that she be there for the entire set up and serving to direct and supervise......one of her instructions was for her specifically, to be outside in the driveway at approx. 4:30 pm when Joe returned home. He was to be handed his "special" imported cigar by her, and she was to light it.
She thought it was a joke, but it was serious...he got out, and stood by his car door until she walked around and handed/lit the cigar...then the pompous ass went into the house........inside there were lots of young attractive college age girls setting up trays, flowers, etc.. and
prepping for the party.....he proceeds directly to the upstairs shower.....when he is done with his shower, he comes downstairs in just a towel....and oops!, the towel just falls down to the floor in front of all the girls.....he took his sweet time rearranging both himself and the towel...all the while grinning like a cheshire cat at the girls.
He is probably my least favorite of the bunch.
Do you remember when he was voted congressman with the lowest intellegence? lol

Re: Post #10 - Scoops ...
Scoops, are you talking about Joe, Sr.???? (Joseph P. Kennedy)
I didn't realize he had been a congressman???????
Or are you talking about one of Ethel's boys????

Which Kennedy was Frank Gifford's son-in-law? Was it Michael?

Yes, one of Ethel's boys ... the one who died in the skiing accident couple of years ago.

Hi Suzanne....it's Joe... sorry editing...not Jr. but the grandson...he was a MA congressman for a couple of terms. That incident was in the early 90's.
Michael and Frank's daughter lived the next town over from me. She has since moved, but I used to drive by their home often. Boy, the stories that circulated back then.
Joe Sr. reportedly was the same way. Genes..........

Oh yeah, that's why I asked ... I've read everything on the Kennedy's and one of the books said the father use to do just about the same thing with his daughter's girlfriends! He was something else I guess.
President Kennedy was the first President that I could vote for ... adored him - knew every cabinet member by name, etc.
Too bad that this book is coming out now on Carolyn though ... feel so sorry for her family and Caroline. Let these poor souls rest in peace.

I have a hard time understanding how anyone could have admired John F. Kennedy. He was a serial philanderer. The press today would have had a field day with all of his activities.

Things were different back then I believe .. also the Press did know, but just kept quiet about it. He was so charming ... it was an exciting time. I wouldn't have missed one of his Press Conferences for the world.

ITA Suzanne...it was easy to admire him...his speeches, his political platforms...just his risky civil rights efforts....admirable, sure, and worthy of some fascination...which is not necessarily admiration after the facts came out. The whole Camelot thing was fairly tale for many. The huge successful and handsome family is noteworthy on it's own.
I do admit, I myself have a hard time now separating the two things...work and morals/ethics...ie: Clinton, Woody Allen, Polanski, Rush Limbaugh, etc...but in that day, no one knew anything unseemly.
Monica Lewinsky was probably lucky she wasn't around causing trouble in Marilyn Monroe's time period.

<<Clinton, Woody Allen, Polanski, Rush Limbaugh>>
You know, Scoops, only you could draw any kind of comparison between these four, and work it into a point you're trying to make. You are truly a diplomatic and knowledgeable poster. I think even Rush Limbaugh would be honored to be included with the other three, considering now nicely and fairly you word things.

DKLA I already read the book and there really isn't anything in it that wasn't in the interview. I must say though it does make Carolyn an even bigger mystery to me. I would do as you said and get it from the library but I don't think I'd spend the money on it.

I will never understand the Kenneday fascination. I hold him in the same regard as Clinton and that's about as low as you can get.
