Does anyone remember Jeff Hewson? or what happened to him? After his disasterous marriage to Judy Crowell his just disappeared.

I remember him, but can't add anymore to what you have said.

There have been TONS of posts on this board about Jeff Hewson. You just have to scroll down the titles of the threads and have fun reading.

Hi. As "Sunshine" suggested, take some time to just relax and read back over the MANY posts about Jeff Hewson. BUT-----I decided to look him up out of a final curiosity (using quotations around his name) on the web. A few references to that name did come up: one at an electronics company (maybe?); another at a church bulletin with "Kathy Hewson", both in NJ; another with a classic VW car in Canada (?). THEN....some porn-related sites (!!) where I WOULD NOT EVEN CONSIDER GOING, that do "include" his name (along with "QVC")in their lure for takers. But it's definitely not worth it to me to check it out. It would surely appear that Mr.Hewson has had no desire to stay in the press; and who could blame him?!

According to Kathy Levine's book, Jeff agreed to an interview with the National Enquirer. That pretty much did it, jmho.

Jeff Hewson married Judy Crowell, then "decided" he was gay. They got divorced shortly thereafter. So, this begs the question, does Judy Crowell's horse-like resemblance have the power to turn men gay?

QVC Dude, I'm disappointed in you!

I like Judy and her large choppers myself. :D

But I didn't like Jeff from what I can remember of him. I always thought he looked like a mannequin come to life.

Why are you disappointed? I just asked a question. :(

- - - sounds more like blaming the victim.

Poor Judy... No wonder she and Paul decided to keep it quiet.

1) Who's CERTAIN Mr. Hewson is gay, anyway? And besides, even if it were public knowledge, how would WE know whether "he DECIDED he was gay"????

2) The question as proposed is "begged" by you, but so very much in the form of a statement...."Judy Crowell's horse-like resemblance" being YOUR 'truth' and "the power to turn men gay" a silly supposition.

Having had an idea of your creativity and smarts, I was disappointed at your post. It didn't do you justice. I wish you'd sent me your REAL creative stuff! (I'm still waiting!)

The thing my sister remembers most about Jeff Hewson was him flirting with the models, esp. one named Candy. Kathy Levine and Jeff worked together a lot too. It's easy to start a rumor about him being gay but I haven't read anything that would prove it to be true.

Unless I hear it from Judy's (or Jeff's)mouth how do you guys know for sure that Jeff was gay? Did you guys talk to him personally and ask him? All of you sound soooooo certain. Judy has kept her mouth shut, as far as I know, so we don't really know if Jeff is gay or not. Plus, I always thought that Candy who worked with him frequently was the cause of their breakup. They used to flirt shamelessly and she was at their wedding. I remember she left after he left. I don't know they probably had nothing going on but Jeff definitely didn't come across as gay to me and I live in NYC and have seen my share of gay men.

BTW, Kathy's last year at QVC a caller asked her about Jeff and she said that the last time she spoke to him he was living in Colorado.

Yes oldenuff- His favorite model was Candy and he would go on and on with her. He would complement her endlessly and Candy was not 'model' material, she was pretty but she wasn't all that.I don't know if Candy was married but Jeff mentioned that she had a twelve year old daughter and seemed to know alot about her personal life.

Hey, all....Candy was a regular staffer!!! She was a close friend of Jane RT's. I wrote to her once with a question and she sent me a sample of Tova and a QVC polishing cloth as a nice gesture (w/o my asking for a thing!) She told me she'd wanted to be a model for a long time but realized that she may not be perfect for it. At that time, they were just starting to seriously "model" clothes for the shoppers. They soon brought in a few professionals. There was one in particular who the viewers went NUTS over. Can't recall her name, (Monique maybe?) but she had L-O-N-G kinda chestnut hair and was very tall and rather exotic looking. The very pert petite model with the blond hair was around then (I think she's still on once in a while?)

To dear QVC Dude, re. posts #6,7,9 and 11

I apologize if I seemed chastizing and jumped on you, but I didn't know where to throw myself (an expression from a friend) upon reading your raw post. I tend to be very protective of the physical shortcomings of people (and that's very subjective!) and also of gay people's feelings and rights. I know I'd LOVE to be (by a consensus) considered "pretty", "gorgeous", "beautiful", "sexy", "a 10", etc., etc. but am a realist. One thing CAN be said of Judy's appearance: she absolutely makes the best of what she was born with and what she has been able to change!!!

So, 'Dude, don't put anymore of these :( in regard to my comments. Come back with :) I honestly didn't want to make YOU feel bad; I just wanted to defend Judy and Jeff as people we don't know personally and should give the benefit of the doubt to. Can you "get" from whence I come?????

QVC Dude

Sure, I get it. :) No harm done. Hey, I was waiting for you to write back to me before I wrote you anymore...

How long ago did Judy divorce Jeff?

marykay
04-03-2004, 05:33 AM
They divorced about 10 years ago.

I was there

I worked at QVC when all this went on..the rumor wasJeff WAS gay.... and Judy and he never even had sex on the honeymoon! Also, we all were subjected to his terrible temper. I remember once at his house he was so angry he tore the drapes down.

Were they attractive drapes? I could easily forgive him if they weren't.

My take on Jeff was that he was only truly in love with one person - himself. Kathy Levine, in her first book, basically said while they were planning the wedding (which is usually the bride's day) he was actually like a spoiled child, wanting as much attention as the bride.

I remember when Jeff and Judy were engaged and he seemed so happy. The last night he was on before the wedding was a hoot. Jeff went on and on about wonderful Judy was and all that. It was completely surprising when they divorced. As the saying goes, there is her side, his side and the truth, so I don't know, but I hope al concerned are happy.

I thought that he was an immature conceited jerk and I was glad to see him go. Here's what I found on the net:

The QVC fairytale marriage between Jeff and Judy ended practically before the honeymoon began. What happened? No one really knows, but it wasn't an amicable split.

This wonderfully written article, LOVE! DRAMA! SHOPPING! ALL ABOUT QVC!, perfectly captures what it was like to be an avid QVC viewer back when all this drama was unfolding.

According to Kathy Levine's biography, "It's Better to Laugh...," Jeffrey asked for a divorce right before Judy was about to go on the air. Stunned and scared, Judy called Kathy for advice. Angered tremendously that Jeffrey would do this to Judy Kathy told her this: Cry later. This bites but you are a professional. Go out there, smile, and sell whatever you have to sell. Do the best you can. It will all be okay.

Jeff, on the other hand, left QVC and supposedly sued for breech of contract. He then sold his story to the Enquirer--classy move, doncha think?

Allegedly this is the old Enquirer article:

Jeff Hewson, the baby-faced star of QVC, has quit the TV shopping network --because he says his jealous ex-wife made his life a living hell. In a bombshell that rocked the network, Hewson and QVC host Judy Crowell split up three months after they wed in April 1992 -- but they both kept their jobs hosting separate QVC segments. The 38 year old heartthrob claims that immediately after the split Judy began spreading vicious rumors that he was gay and had a serious drinking problem. A furious Hewson resigned from the network on Friday, November 5, saying he was sick of his ex-wife's antics and QVC's refusal to do anything about it.

Astonishingly, Hewson, who says he was QVC's top seller, moving as much as $2.4million worth of gold jewelry in one night, admits their troubles started as far back as their honeymoon. "We were on a yacht in the Mediterranean. Judy started making scenes. She seemed to delight in humiliating me in public," he said. "When we got back home, Judy said, it's not working. I said, let's get some therapy. We haven't given it a chance. But she didn't want to give it a chance. She never even moved into my home. I feel she married me just to get ahead. Judy's love for me was all an act. She went after me because I was a star. She got me to fall in love with her and marry her, thinking the publicity would make her a celebrity. She's a Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde and Mr. Hyde came out after we married." Hewsen said he threatened to slap QVC bigwigs with a lawsuit if they didn't stop Judy's harassment. But they did nothing. QVC made matters worse when they offered him a ridiculous new 5 year contract. "I would have earned less than I did two years ago. When I looked at that, and thought of my ex-wife's viciousness, I decided I'd had enough," he said.

When contacted by the ENQUIRER, Judy Crowell had no comment. Hewson now hopes to land a job hosting a TV game show and he's thrilled to finally be rid of his ex-wife. "The biggest favor Judy ever did for me was to walk out of my life," he said.

"She's put me through a horrendous year, but it's time to move on. My fans will definitely see me again -- a lot happier and with an even more beautiful woman."

I agree Rebel Mom, I always thought Jeff was in love with Jeff and everyone else came in second. I guess we will never know the circumstances of his breakup with Judy but based on his behavior on air, its not hard to figure out. Arrogant little bas*ard he was.

WOW! I remember, Jeff was my favorite QVC host at the time and quite frankly, I miss seeing him. I often times wonder what he is doing today. I remember he got married to Judy and I was shocked because I thought Judy was not such a nice gal. When they got divourced, I wasn't surprised. I shouldn't be shocked to hear people saying Jeff was gay as that is the easy answer for everything today. And even if he was gay, so what? In a country that is so much in to not being prejudice, we are such horrible people when it comes to homosexuality. Well, off of my soap box before I say too much.

I guess my favorite QVC Host today is David Venable although there are a few others I really like. But after all of these years, I still miss Jeff and I hope he is doing well. The saddest part for me was Jeff was a QVC host before Judy. I think it is sad that he left and not her.

True, there's nothing wrong with being gay. More and more studies are indicating that a person's sexual orientation is determined by the gene pool. In the case of Jeff Hewson (who I also liked very much), the problem was that he seems to have married Judy under false pretenses and surely hurt her deeply.

It would be nicer if on-air personalities could be open about their sexual orientation without flaunting it. At this point I'll be that Jeff wishes he'd done that.

Oh well, you live and you learn.

My Mom used to LOVE "Jeffrey", but he came across to me as nothing but a whiney diva-type who in reality was nothing more than a turdfarmer. Just my observation.

....and Judy has.

I remember watching back right before he left. I remember he started kind of mocking some of the products. He probably knew then he was leaving. I later found out that I had worked a couple years before with his sister in a school where he grew up. Hewson was her maiden name. I was not watching QVC then and never had heard about him being related to her. Small world. It was a nice Eastern Indiana farm community. I wonder what ever happened with him. He was the grand marshall of the Indy 500 around 1993 or 4. He wore this Western fringe shirt. I never got to see his interactions with Kathy but from what I hear, they were a good selling team.

I think it was a few miles east of Greenfield. I lived in Greenfield and worked at Eastern Hancock School. The Hewsons were farmers in that area I believe but Greenfield was the nearest bigger town. Jeff had a very nice singing voice as I recall.

Jac470 - since Jeff is related to your husband do you know what he has been doing for the past 15 years or so since he left QVC?
