I found this site when Judy made some reference to people "typing" about her departure so I searched until I found you! I'm sorry to report I'm one of those Qers who get the greeting cards from the hosts at holidays and was too embarrassed at tax time to add up all the money spent at QVC. It sure is addictive, especially when you live alone - actually not alone - I do have Opie, the chihuahua! I miss the quality of the hosts and I miss some of the vendors. I loved shows the David would do with Christopher Radko. Susan Graver drives me nuts. Someone should tell her to keep quiet when the host is talking. She never shuts up!!! The Philosophy woman scares me. Love her products and have tons, but she's annoying. Boy, it will be fun to talk to people who understood what I just said!!! I'm glad I found you.

Hiya opie'smom & Welcome! I'm pretty new myself but I like it here.
It is fun to dish and I really like being able to ask/answer questions about specific products. Amazingly, half the people with whom I come in contact in 'person' are like 'what's QVC?'. They're no fun to talk to! LOL

Yankee, sadly they never mentioned opie's mom in mayberry because she was dead! I see you're from Pittsburgh, my favorite city in the land. I lived there 6 years ago and if it weren't for the money i spend on QVC i'd have saved enough to move back there. Actually, spent most of my time a little north of The Burgh in the wonderful little town of East Brady. Lov'n every minute of it! Now i'm in South Carolina.

Have you ever noticed how many dead TV moms there were when we were kids? The Andy Griffith Show, Bonanza, My Three Sons, Courtship of Eddie's Father, Blossom, etc. Even the poor Eight is Enough mom checked out after one season. My theory is we were so scarred by this phenomenon during our formative years that as we grew up and became mothers ourselves, we unconsciously avoided most fictional TV programming and found ourselves drawn to LIVE SHOPPING CHANNELS as a psychological defense mechanism...

Welcome OpiesMom. I live in North Carolina, and it's a well known secret that you weren't really dead...we all know that Aunt Bee ran you off because she was a contol freak. I'm delighted you are happily living under an assumed name in South Carolina :)
Again, welcome to the BB, and your secret is safe with us!

Hi Opie's Mom and welcome! Give Opie a tummy rub from me and my 2 golden retrievers. Any dog lover/QVC lover is ok in my book! Have fun chatting with us. I love Philosophy and can't stand Susan Graver too. It's fun to agree/disagree here. Everyone is so nice.

Hi! I'm new here also. I didn't buy the philosophy TSV but am thinking about it. It is a nice set but I don't want to spend that much. I really like the sccented shower gels from philosophy. My favorite is the Strawberry Milkshake.

Welcome, opie'smom! Do you by any chance have a lifesize bronze of yourself and "little Opie"??? The reason I ask, is that in Raleigh, the state capital of my adopted state of NC, there is quite a dynamic 'monument' to Andy Taylor and Opie!!! It's a 'still' of the scene at close where they're walkin' along with the fishin' pole. It was unveiled last year and I think it now needs YOU there! (Maybe you could do one of those mannequin-contest things and fool everyone?)
As I mentioned in another thread, I lived in SC for 4 yrs. Abbeville County....do you know of it??? Few people do. A good part of the Julia Roberts movie, "Sleeping with the Enemy" was filmed there.

OC OC OC....
I have been camping at Calhoun Falls in Abbeville County...do you know the State Park there? Also been to a neat antique center in Donald (?) I think that was the name of the place.
I have a friend who keeps his boat on Lake Russell.
It was a fun trip, but I do have to say, it is not the tourist Mecca of the south...lol
Was i close to Due West??

I'm new to this, too, and even as I'm typing, in the background, crazy Nick Chavez is attacking someone's scalp and massaging their head until it looks like its gonna fly off her shoulders. I'm a qvc nut and no one else I know is. This is fun.

I am so new to this that it's taken me a while to figure out where to type, what to look at and when to respond.
Yes, I'm on the upper east side of Manhattan, a great place to shop if you've got lots of dough, but I do all my shopping at the Q.
The Philosophy woman is on now, and someone said somewhere today that she's scary. She is. Intense and too focused on trying to educate us.
But the Philosophy products are really good.

WELCOME bunches to you, MaggersNYC!!!!! I'm a former LI'er. Miss the City sooooooooooooo much!!!!!
Hahahahahahahahahahha!!! "crotch cam"!!!!! Yeah, Yankee, I dig that flick too. The scene at the town carnival/fair was filmed in the town square in Abbeville. ALOT of the locals are in the "crowds" on roadside during the parade. If you want, sometime I'll share the hilarious story about Ms. Roberts' experience there. (Not a positive one!)
SBTZMom, I'm astounded! I just ran to the L.R. to tell my husband about your post! Due West is the next town from Donalds! We used to drive there to pay our utility bills. Was a one-stop-light town back in mid-80's...has it grown at all??? Calhoun Falls was about a 30-40 min. drive, I think. Due West is where Erskine College (Presbyterian) is. Large Mennonite population in that area; my hubby worked with them often...we learned alot from them.

OC...nope it's pretty much a REALLY small town. There was this antique place, and some kind of meeting hall, as I recall, and I think a gas station that was also like a general provisions type of store. The antique place was really actually quite nice, and they also had some homemade jams, pickles, and those kind of things for sale.
I think perhaps we were in Due West because I remember the college, and sround it are some really neat old homes...is that right? I seem to remember some kind of art center there too, although we did not go into it...I could be confusing this with some place else but I think this was the place.
And you are right....the State Park was close to an hours drive. It was a beutiful place (the mosquitoes thought so too...lol)
