I asked this before and didn't get any replies. I am talking about when a QVC host is selling non-clothing related merchandise, do you ever see them wearing QVC clothing? I can't say that I ever see them wearing the clothing if they aren't actively selling it on their show.

It would seem to me that the hosts (female) would always be asked to wear clothing being sold on the segment they are hosting, or if it is not a clothing show, any clothing that will be sold in the near future. Same goes for jewelry. Don't think more than a day goes by on QVC without an item of clothing or jewelry up for sale. Since QVC wants to showcase their clothing and jewelry, what better way to do so than to have their hosts wear as many pieces as possible, constantly.

I just re-read my own post above and thought . . . well DUH, that's rather obvious!!!

Should have re-read it before posting it.

I think you are right that the hosts are asked to wear products that they are presenting. Who knows what they do after hours. However, I have heard Lisa Robertson say that she uses Bare Essentuals, and Jane Rudolph Treacy said she took Mojave Magic to Ireland, so I assume that they all have their "Favorites" just like we do. I would love to know if they get discounted prices.

It's been mentioned many times by various hosts that they do get a QVC employee discount. On another thread I asked about that...I'm really curious as to how much it is. I posed the question to Oldenuff, as she has some "insider" info. Maybe she didn't see my query or maybe she doesn't know about that.

The hosts get a discount for sure but I dont know exactly how much. My guess is about 25% off. I doubt if the hosts buy much of the fashions they sell. They have to wear the TSV's they sell. Generally most hosts come to work in jeans and find something to wear in the QVC model area. QVC goes out and buys the trendier outfits the models and hosts wear at local stores like Nordstroms. When Nolan Miller comes to QVC he picks out an outfit for Mary Beth to wear on his shows.

I heard on another board that some of the cosmetic lines give them tons of free stuff to try for a month or two, so that when they go on air, they know what they are actually advertising.

I have heard that too. BUT, hosts are given a variety of products to try first, before they promote them, "on-air". Not just makeup, but a lot of other things...

Whoa! 30% is really VERY good. No wonder they are always saying "I own this, I own that....". I've worked in retail a few times over my last century (HA!) and the best discount I ever got was 33% at Waldenbooks (this is going back to 1987). Also, whomever unpacked a box was able to keep the book that was (usually) sent as a 'sample'. Only problem: my addiction to books is as bad, or worse, than the "makeup junkie" dilemma alot of you confess to. A majority of my paychecks went to MORE BOOKS! (My hubby just loved that. Not!)

Thanks for the replies. That's what I thought, I didn't think they wore QVC clothing if they weren't actively selling it on their program. I don't think any of the suits that Mary Beth Roe wears on air are anything that is sold on QVC. I think the only QVC product that they wear on a daily basis is Legacy Legwear (and I assume they get that for free since they advertise that all QVC hosts and models wear it exclusively.)

Regarding discounts... When I worked at the Gap years ago, I got 9 items a month that could be worn in the store at a 50% discount. Everything else that I purchased (*Even sale items*) I got for 30% off. I MISS MY DISCOUNT! I hurt SOOOOOO bad the first time I had to pay $50 for jeans after leaving Gap! I want my discount back!!! :O (*SOB*)

Doesn't Jill wear Birks a lot even when she is not doing a Birk show?

I'm pretty sure I've seen her wearing them during fashion and jewelry shows.
