I'm new here- and I just got through writing a post that disappeared so if 2 of these show up, I'm sorry.
I've been watching QVC for years now and I always assumed that Lisa Robertson was unmarried because she's never mentioned a mate or wears a ring. Plus, she just seems too happy and carefree to be married:-) But I was watching a couple of weeks ago and she was hosting a show with mattresses, and she said something, (paraphrased), "Sometimes I feel my husband is torturing me because he likes (some mattress) and I don't." Then a few days later she was doing a beauty show, and the woman who was representing the company- (it wasn't Leslie Blodgett) said something like, "I have kids, I don't have time for a big make-up routine", to which Lisa replied, "Oh yeah, once you reproduce, it's over." Out of curiousity I did a search and found this group with all this gossip! So my questions/comments are:
1) Crowell and Deasy married??? They don''t seem suited, but then, what do I know:-)
2) Did he and Lynn Murphy really have an affair? I don't even remember him being on HSN
3) Lisa Mason has Lupus? She is so sweet I hope she does well
4) Why did Skip Connelly leave SNBC for America's Store? IMO, QVC and SNBC have more class and better quality merchandise. (And I don't know why Kerry McNally left HSN, but I would, too, for a job on SNBC.) And what's up with the Coin guy- Bill Gale? He left HSN and then was on QVC, and then I've seen him on some other "generic" shopping channel in the middle of the night. Is he not on QVC anymore?
5) and where do you guys find out all of this stuff? :-)
Bye for now,
BE, Philosophy and LeMirador rule!

Well, I don't know the answer to any of those fine questions Karen, just wanted to welcome you to the board and hope you have a blast with us. Post early and often, and the bar is down the hall.

Karen:
I can only answer 1 of those questions. Judy and Paul were married sometime last fall.
But you answered one for me... I was wondering what happened to Skip Connolly. Thanks!
If you've watched ShopNBC very long... perhaps you know what happened to Michelle Murphy?? She's been gone a long time but I miss her and never knew what happened.

Hi Karen,
Welcome to our cyber family...glad to have ya.
My friend was watching Lisa R and heard the same comments. I was very puzzled by it too, because I also thought she was single. Maybe if we keep asking, someone here knows the answer.
It's amazing to me that so many on this board know so much. I have learned a lot since signing on.
Again, welcome and have fun most of all.

Yes, Lisa Mason does have Lupus.
And I have heard the room too about Lynn Murphy but don't know if it is true.
I hear that thing with Lisa Roberston too and now I am more confused than ever!

Gotta find out da answer, postees.

Welcome, Karen.
I don't think Lisa R. is married as she is constantly stating that it's only her in her house; no pets, no kids, no husband/boyfriend. And last night, when Sally was on, a caller (or Sally, can't recall) suggested Lisa be on a Dating Reality show.
She may have been commenting that women and men have different tastes with mattresses; you know, using a hypothetical scenario.

Lisa's not married, although she may have overnight guests. I heard the comment last night from Sally, too. Lisa always has the perfect come back to dodge those questions.

Lisa is a wily one. I guess it comes from years of experience at dodging those kind of questions live on air.

Lisa dated Dan Hughes when she first started with Q. I think she was on the morning show for a while with him. He did remarry again to someone else. Unless I dreamed it all up(It"s possible). Listen, who would ever have believed that Kathy Levine would find a husband and and leave Q. Lisa will find her special guy too. After all she is a sweetheart.

You are right about Lisa R and Dan H. I heard that a long time ago. Someone told me she was the reason for the divorce from his first wife. Im also sure that Lisa R will find her special someone.

I thought Lisa Robertson was engaged to Paul Kelley. I didnt know about her with Dan Hughes but I thought they seemed too close for comfort when they were doing the morning show and he was married. Then Paul Deasy with Judy and I heard that he dated the hsn host Lynn Murphy which broke up his marriage. It is kind of gross thinking of them all dating each other, at work.
DocLove
05-04-2004, 02:21 PM
Why does dating someone you work with sound gross? It only makes sense to me because that's where most of us spend our time. NOT Dan Hughes. Hmmm.... That's a hard one to picture.

Thanks Bevel I'm glad my memory is still intact. Getting off the subject and onto another station, (the inferior hsn) did anyone see Susanne Somers and Coleen Lopez yesterday? They weren't getting along very well. Poor Susanne, they work her so many hours she was very tired and got angry with Coleen. Susanne is 57 years old and looks great. I like her a lot. Did anyone see the show?

Hi Captain,
Your memory is right on target. As far as watching HSN, I personally do not care for that network. I feel the hosts are shouting at me and almost demanding that I buy. In my humble opinion, on Qvc it's more of a soft sell. In fact, lots of times the hosts will say if this doesnt work for you, we have this or that. In fact, I thinnk Rick D should be on the HSN, because he yells too.
You mentioned you are from Queens. My lifelong friend lives in Bayside and I like going to visit to shop at the Roosevelt Field mall.
She is moving to Arizona in July, so I will miss her and the mall.

Captain,
What happened with Suzanne Somers and Colleen? Why did Suzanne get angry with her?
I usually watch when she is on...have never bought any of her stuff though.
You know I had a hard time picturing Lisa with Paul Kelley. He seems more like her father and I don't think she needs that...or does she? hmmmmmmm
Now I'm really having a hard time picturing Dan Hughes, sorry but eeeeewwwww. Maybe it's their sense of humor because as far as I can see that's about the only appealing trait either one has going for themselves. Okay, maybe two...their both intelligent? I know Paul is. I'll give Dan the benefit of the doubt. Anyway...........
About a few months ago, Lisa was in an advertisement for a local restaurant. She was all done up and sitting at a small round table for two with a mysterious man. Mysterious because if I recall you could only see his profile. She was facing the camera and a waiter was serving them or talking to them or something... I don't remember.
All I could think of was one what an odd advertisement, two who was this not so handsome elderly gentleman she was dining with?, and three if this man was better looking in person because Lisa's soooo pretty. Not that looks are everything, but they didn't seem to go together. That got me thinking that he was more than just a person in the ad because a male model type he wasn't. So what does this mean? Is she or isn't she? Oh a big WELCOME TO KAREN!!!! I like the way you think!

Shopgirl; Susanne and Coleen kept pushing the table that separated them back and forth, and were giving each other digs from 7 to 10 pm. It appears that Susanne couldn't take Coleen any more and let her have it with a few sharp observations. They don't like each other. Susanne is a big star compared to Coleen and brings a lot of viewers to the station, she deserves respect. Coleen thinks she is Susanne"s equal which will never happen. I guess you could call it the "All About Eve" syndrome (The beloved Bette Davis movie of the 40's).Meowwwwwwww

You know, I always suspected that Lisa and Dan Hughes had something going on. This is the first confirmation I've seen on this.
It was just odd the way she stopped coming on the AM show, and he divorced his wife at about the same time.

Shopgirl: It is hard to quote verbatim, I might leave something out or misquote them, but in all the years I've watched home shopping networks this was the most contention. Let me try; after they stopped pushing the table back and forth,Coleen giggles and fans herself in embarrassment, Susanne says " if you read my book you wouldn't need to fan yourself. As I said Coleen needs to be reminded that Susanne is the reason people are watching the show and not her. Is there a BB for hsn?
Betty
Hi DocLove, Is she or isn't she MARRIED? The ad appeared in a local (Philly) area magazine around Valentine's Day and it was pretty romantic? Candlelit dinner, all dressed up, table for two, you get the picture. I thought it was odd at the time but didn't give it much thought until I read the posts #'s 1,4,5,6,7 and 8 of this thread. Hope that answers your question.

and I wouldn't hold my breath for an answer from her...if she is married she's playing it close to the vest.
Wait a minute....I may be able to find out through my husband...don't ask how, Okay? This may take a day or two. He'll have to make one phone call to a VERY RELIABLE source. Oh yeah...

That's interesting about Suzanne/Colleen... I think I watched that show and didn't notice anything. I think that Colleen and Suzanne really are friends though... you can't work on air with someone as many times as they do and have as many funny moments as they do without some sort of friendship! IMO, the quote you mentioned seems like typical Suzanne-- that was just her trying to sell her book. I do like her, but sometimes, she's a little too full of herself, for my taste. I think it's great that she wrote the menopause book, but she acts like she's the only person to find good solutions to menopause, and she's not. I think she's really helped a lot of people, but I don't think she thinks about her viewer's income/lifestyle. She's always talking about her 3 houses and 4 slow cookers and how she owns 2 pairs of the same shoes in each house. I don't like all of her jewelery pieces and some are really expensive, and so is her food. She was selling a $370 costume jewelery piece the other day! It was "the pick of the show"... of course, their job is to sell... but if I'm spending $370, you can bet I'm going to buy something real! Colleen and Lynn also fawn over her... mostly Lynn which is why I can't watch when they're on. Suzanne needs the attention... at the end of the day, that's what she wants!

Y'all want to hear something scary? I am allergic to dairy products and cannot participate in anything as delectable as ice cream ever again. And I LOVED it. I understand being weak in the news over the heavenly creation. I loved Vanilla, Pumpkin Spice and Cherry Pie. We had an ice cream place here called "Mixin's". Where they would actually "fold in" whatever flavor you wanted. It was like a blizzard without being soupy and done with homemade icecream. Ahhh it was I imagine manna from heaven tastes like.
Okay, I'm back....while you were trying to pry out of me who my source was, which I will never divulge, I was waiting for my answer. As of a month ago, Lisa Robertson WAS NOT married, however I do not know if she got married since then. According to (blank) it is "99.9% improbable" that she is. I can not say more at this time in case Ms. Robertson or friends are reading this entire thread. She would be able to put the pieces together and nevermind......that's all I'm going to say. If she did get married, I hope she fesses up before someone else does it for her. "BYE BYE" ;)
Hey KayrnLR, I couldn't agree with your more on all the points you made and at the end of the day it's also all about the money. Oh well,<<<sigh>>> More power to her.
It does seem odd that every time she has a life experience she seems to write a book about it AND get on the NY Times best seller list at number 1 no less. Go figure.

Hello again everyone, and thanks all for your welcome. If I'm understanding this site correctly, I can't answer one post in particular, so I'll try to answer little bits here nad there:-)
I don't know why Lisa R. said what she said about the mattress, etc., it was very puzzling; but judging from your responses I wasn't hearing things. BTW- doesn't she visit relatives in Charleston, SC at times? I think I've heard her say that- that's where I am.
Whatever goes on between Colleen Lopez and Suzanne- I feel sorry for Colleen- she seems really nice and to have to put up with Suzanne- sheesh- that's just my opinion- I'm sure Suzanne is nice, but Colleen isn't a "star" and it must be like walking on eggshells for whoever works with Suzanne. I noticed Lynne Murphy was visibly hesitant and uncomfortable the first few times she worked with her. BTW, it's true- does Suzanne really think we can spend $27.00 on 3 jars of simmer sauce??? I tried it once out of curiosity, I make better at home! And if I buy jewelry- I'd rather get a real stone for the same price or less- I don't care if it's quartz- I can't see paying upwards of $60 on pot metal and crystals, but that's just me- I like stuff from the earth.
I don't know why- maybe I'm old-fashioned, but doesn't it seem like a married host and a hostess having an affair is kind of unprofessional? They are representing the station- if they were both single it would be different. I wonder, if it had happened on QVC if they would have been fired?
I really feel like I've sunk to a new low- why am I on a chat list about QVC??? It's so middle-aged. I still like rock 'n roll...really!

Denim, you ask about Belk. Being in the shopping desert that is Florence, SC i describe Belk to you this way: Take your average Wal-Mart. Go in and increase the quality of the clothing by maybe 10%. Increase the age-range of styles to about 70-ish. Then increase the prices by about 40% and you have Belk.
ksexton
05-06-2004, 11:55 PM
Hello Denim,
Unlike Florence, SC, the Belk here is nice, just a lot smaller than the stores I was used to growing up in CA. They do have nice clothes, Liz Claiborne, Calvin Klein, Hilfiger, Bill Blass, etc., just not as much space devoted to other things- it's just one floor, has limited cosmetics, no real jewelry (at this one- others do), etc. We have a brand-new TJ Maxx across the street that sells the same brands for alot less, so I usually check there for clothes before going to Belk.
The stores I was used to in CA were Robinson's, May Co., (now Robinson's- May) The Broadway and Nordstroms, even though I couldn't really afford anything at Nordstrom's.

Karen--
I'd try your major ones, like Marshall Field and Nordstrom to find Philosophy, and Sephora if you have it. The best thing you could do though is go to philosophy.com and find a location near you, because I frequent several Marshall Fields but not every store sells Philosophy. I'm not sure about department stores, but Sephora lets you take home little jars of good-sized samples of their products, which is a plus. Although, at my Sephora, the Philosophy samples seem to be a little old... they're under the lights, I know, but some of their samples are different colors than the ones for purchase--leading me to believe they've been sitting too long. I'm a little wary about purchasing Philosophy at Sephora because of that--I think the manager should replace the old products! I buy at Nordstroms usually!
Hope this helps!

I have many women friends who are single and choose to be. Of course, everyone always assumes they are gay too. Just because Lisa is private about her personal life doesn't mean anything. And, I think she is way too into make-up, fashion, etc. to be gay.
