I have been reading the posts for the last few months. You guys are great. I usually watch the Q early morning. I homeschool my daughter so don't always get a chance to tune in. I love the silver and diamonique shows. I just received a silver dimomique ring a couple weeks ago and I love it. Glad I joined!!!

Syracuse, (Nancy) yes, I loved the summers. I miss all the lakes and resevoirs....we don't have anything like that here. Also miss Paul's meat market, Mirbach's, and Dasher Cox's in Skeneateles(sp)....probably none of them exist anymore. We lived on Beverly Road, my husband grew up on Valley Drive and went to SU...I lived in a variety of apartments off Geddes with my various roommates after college. We've been here for probably longer than you've been alive - but have many fond memories and a few cold ones.

Oh, we're not that far apart...I'm 60. My husband was back about 15 years ago and was only in Syracuse but couldn't believe the changes. Was sad to see all the trees that had gone. I do miss the summers by the lakes.

Hi Syracuse, welcome. My son is an SU grad. Have many fond memories of football in the Dome. It is a great school and Newhouse was good to him. The winters are killers, and the shops on "M" street that cater to college kids are sleezy but fun.

Have fun on the board.

Welcome, Syracuse! I home schooled my son for 9 years--grades 4-12. He just completed his first year in college. It's hard work, but worth it. Enjoy the board!

Hi Syracuse! From one 55 yr. old to another! It sounds like you're an orange men fan. I'm a Terps fan (live in Maryland). Do you love March Madness as much as I do? We both love QVC :p This bb is my new hobby. It's a lot of fun. Nice to meet you.

Hey Syracuse and Momof2 I'm also 55 (and incidently also a mom of 2)I said my welcomes yesterday but had to put in my 2 cents worth about being 55. Although I'm a mom of 2 I'm also a step mom of 2 and have 2 grandchildren from my step-daughters. I love them all like they were my own. My oldest son is coming in from California tomorrow evening for Memorial Day weekend. Haven't seen him since Christmas time so I really miss him and glad he will be home for a few days. Toodles.

EskieRuth, don't know if I ever welcomed you...saw your posts and meant to respond to one ...not sure where it was about MS. I'm not sure but I think that someone that used to post over a month ago had ms...not sure why that person left - before the hulabaloo a couple of weeks ago.... then sbtz mom's husband passed away with complications with it....she's an amazing resource and I hope that she returns to posting in the near future. Many of us have auto immune system problems which are sometimes related. And, there probably isn't a person on the board that hasn't had someone close to them touched by this dreadful disease. Glad to have you here!

Lots of babyboomers..... love it already....had my daughter late in life due to medical problems...But she was well worth the wait. She is 17 and has a boyfriend 18 almost 19 in Iraq,he has been in the Army since he graduated last year. He's a great kid!!!...
Im not the basketball fan(hanging my head) but my husband is.
Does anybody remember the farmers market down on Park St? We are getting ready to go there soon. They sell a lot of the fake handbags...Love it, my daughter bought a fake Louis Vetton for 60.00 and I bought a big Gucci bad for 40.00..I don't care if they are fake.
Have a great day!!!

Hi Syracuse, I hope that your daughter's boyfriend comes back home safe and soon. Please thank him from me for his service. What would we do without our brave soldiers?? I just got my first "knock off" handbag. It's a tiny Louis Vuitton zippered bag with a short strap. So cute!!! I feel great carrying it. The fakes look really good. Have fun handbag shopping! Leila

Hey Syracuse - You can teach your daughter via the BB....Math - "Mom buys 3 diamonique bracelets, 2 gold earings, 1 ruby pendant, and returns a roll out garden that she bought 2 months ago - what is the total qvc bill this month"...Geography -" find on a map and identify the following states and capitals...where beve1 lives, where momof2 lives, where bigfatstella lives, where turtle lady lives, where vhisky lives" Science - "What is the coating used on cook's essentials" - "what is found in the various make up lines" creative writing - "come up with 10 new phrases to be used by the hosts -without using the word "fabulous"," " write a scenerio that uses QVC cleaning products to eliminate Susan Graver." I'll think of more assignments....How old's your daughter?

Turtlelady, I never thought of the bb as an online education course. That's so funny!! You are clever. Let me know if you find that cleaning product for Susan Graver. She is way too annoying! Have to sign off and do some grocery shopping. It's tough to pry myself away from the computer! Talk to you later. Have a great day :D

Thank you turtlelady for the nice welcome. I wondered if anyone else had MS. I think I left that post on the cure by the shore thread I think it was called "purchases" But anyway I thank you. By the way I did't know Sitzmom's husband passed away. When did this happen? I've seen her name recently but I didn't pay attention to the dates.

Eskie Ruth - not sure when ...think if you scroll down and go to a thread called Lisa Masons health it will tell you more.
She hasn't posted since the cure day - other than one cutsie thing...she's been lurking but not posting....clueless...the majority of the posters are women and think we just need more big girl panties...another thread!

Hi Syracuse and welcome...I'm just catching up on all the posts so welcome even though I already spoke to you in the Memorial Day thread just minutes ago.

If you have any suggestions on home schooling websites feel free to send them my way. My son has Tourette Syndrome and Asperger's and attends the local public middle school. He is in the sixth grade.

I realized this year that he really needed help in Math because he was rapidly falling way behind (about 2 grade levels). So I partnered with his Math teacher who was just about going to give up on him. We spent most weekends doing Math and it really paid off.

My hat is off to you. It takes real dedication and love for your child to assume the role of a teacher. My son loves the military, police officers and firefighters. So I'll tell him about your daughter's boyfriend and all the good work he is doing for our country.

desi and syracuse - bless both of you, i worked with children for about 20 years - miss it but can't do that anymore. if i ever get social security straightened out i'll do some volunteering - one on one. i know it was another thread but, desi, you were saying that your husband and son were participating in memorial day activities. sounds so nice. last night radio commentator was saying how things have changed and that he misses the small town celebrations that he grew up with....me, too...parade to the cemetary...recitations, drill team, gun shots....and free hot dogs from the vfw....wonder if that happens places any more...glad to hear there is something near you that involves your son.

Turtlelady, Thanks and you're right. This is the first time that a celebration like this is taking place in our neck of the woods on Memorial Day. They anticipate a big turnout. It is very nostalgic. Hope to create good memories for the kids.

Hi - I'm a newbie too! I love reading the posts. I had no idea that Paul and Judy got married!!!!

I did take the Q-tour a couple of years ago - we also saw Nolan Miller and we met Mary Beth - what a blast. The tour is so interesting - you really see what goes on and what it takes to get the shows on the air.

Hi Cassi, welcome to our bb! I agree with you re: Susan Graver. She's a real motor mouth. I have 1 moleskin pant outfit from her that I do like, but that's it. I buy lots of denim&co., sport savvy, dialogue and some Victor Costa and citiknits. Nice to have you here. Have fun!
