Good Morning everyone! I just wanted to say "HI" to all. I have been reading the posts for sometime now and have really enjoyed them. I love QVC. I haven't bought much lately, aside from Bills Spray-n-grow. Anyway, glad to be here!

Welcome aboard, JustMe! I have a really cool Don Nebobeck cat print at home, and the jist of the message is something like, "I am not like other cats, I am Just Me." Have you seen it?

Good Morning Stel!
No, I haven't seen that, but I love cats and it sure sounds just like any cats I know!!!!

Check out nedobeck.com, click on "cards", and the card on the right side, 2nd from the bottom. It says,
"I am me--
I am just me.
I am a little like other cats,
But mostly
I'm
Just me!"
I have the print farmed and matted in my bedroom, along with probably 15 other prints of his. He is a wonderful whimsical cat-artist!

JustMe: Welcome! Cute name. Hope you have a good time here. (Be forewarned, though, it can become addictive. Pace yourself! LOL)
Bigfatstel, I went to Nedobeck's site. So glad you shared your admiration for his cat-art! You have around 16 of his prints??? Wow! Are you registered with his site? You've earned the free cat illustration mousepad, for sure! ($35.00 and over). Also there's a sweepstakes for $$$$ and items of his art. (I registered and got an offer for a free mousepad with any order over $30.00.)
Art has been a major focus of my life since first memories, as my family has always been art-oriented. Watercolor is a difficult medium to master. How long have you been working at it? Nedobeck's watercolor cats are clever, whimsical and irresistible without being "cutesy" and cloying, don't you agree? LOVE their 'chunky' bodies! (Hmmm, gee, wonder why? ..."Like mother, like daughter, in my case! LOL! My "Natalie" is a roly-poly furball.)
Also, stel, I went to the GSRAW site! They've done a wonderful job in designing and maintaining it. Anyhoo, I found Ava and Klaus!!! That was alot of fun. In the pic of the 2 women (is that the vacation one?) are you one of them? Is the other gal the foster-mom Deb? Your dogs are gorgeous! It's clear that you have a super relationship with them; and now I see how MUCH you joke around...it's obvious that you dont' REALLY consider Ava "from Hell" or any other serious bad-girl problems. Some of your stories could be describing traits of our doggies AND kitties! Sorta coincidental, but last weekend there was a huge commotion outside a new petstore in the center where I was going for groceries. I HAD to check it out: it was the local German Shepherd rescue group having their adopt-athon. There were some incredibly beautiful dogs there! We're Golden Retriever maniacs, but we love ALL animals. Your doggies are so fortunate to have been matched with you, and vice-versa.

occaseshpr--You have made my day! Thanks!!!!
First, I get the small prints of Nedobecks at the Oconomowoc Art Festival every year. You get a volume discount, so I get three or four a year. If you see any you like in particular, I can pick them up and ship them to you. The cool thing is, then he personalizes them, which I like!
I have done watercolor for about 10 years, maybe 12.....I took a class at the local college, and FLUNKED! The bitchy teacher told me to get another hobby. So, instead, I bought every book I could and taught myself. I have a series of limited edition prints of orchids that are pretty cool. I did the first one to raise money for the Domes in Milwaukee--their big botanical gardens. The original just sold last January for 2700 bucks!!!!!! Can you stand it????? I almost died!!!!
I also have a pottery studio and do some kick butt things in that. I have a series of statues I made of my cats that is pretty cool.
Now, thanks so much for checking out Klaus and Ava's page. Even though we AREN'T getting hypersensitive on this BB, I was kind of bumming that no one looked at their site, and they are truly the loves of my life! So, thanks for checking them out--it means a lot to me. Yes, I am one of the gals in the picture, and the other one is Deb. I am the pretty one---HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Actually, and NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT, people think we are lesbians because of that picture! Dressed the same, baseball cats, big dogs, in addition to the fact that a lot of the gals on that site are gay.....People kept thinking that on vacation, and I would embarrass the hell out of Deb by declaring out loud that WE AREN'T GIRLFRIENDS. We'd go places, and they'd assume we were "partners". So, don't pass judgement on that picture--I am on the left, holding on to Princess Ava. I now am back to my "natural" blonde hair, grew it out long too.
You are wrong about one thing....That update was written after having Ava for 9 months. She is hellish--been on such a streak, she makes my head spin! Recently, she took my brand new purse, and chewed all the beautiful silk orchids off of it, dragged a full cat litter box up two flights of stairs, to her "spot" on the rug, dumped it out along the whole way, and ate all the "tootsie rolls", she bites me in the butt at least 12 times a day, and occasionally STILL pees on the living room carpeting. She's in a particularily sassy time right now. I love her to death, she makes me laugh, so I overlook her flaws! She will grow into a fine dog some day.
For every time she's naughty, there are the times when she'll curl up against me, and make her little puppy snorts, and all is good in the world!
Now, my Klaus--he is god-like to me and literally saved my life. I couldn't live without that big boy.

Welcome! Love your name. I honestly think that reading the posts is much more fun than watching the Q. The people are great. Hope you enjoy it. If you have a question about a product on the Q or elsewhere, ask. Everyone tries to help.
Stel--
OT. I went to your website, but I wasn't sure where to insert a comment. I loved your Ava story. She has a huge personality, and she reminds of.. hmmmn, now let me think here. Someone who is outspoken, honest, fun, goes for what she wants. It's coming to me...
Oh, I think it's you. A match made in heaven.
I do love dogs, but I have asthma. I've been looking into "Coton's." Beve -- I think you have one, but sometimes I read they are OK for people like me, sometimes not.
Have a great weekend, be safe.
Gloria
Hi Justme, I feel like I just said hello to myself. Love your name!!
The weather is supposed to be beautiful today...at least where I live. Good luck with your gardening. How dooooo you keep those little rabbits from eating your flowers??? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. :)
Hope you have as much fun on this board as I have. The people are really great. Except the jerks. They know who they are and so will you. Just hit the "iggie" button as someone (spooie?) so aptly said.
and Cassanova, that's why we love you....

Hi, JustMe. Welcome to the board. I think you will find some wonderful people here.
There are 3-4 people on this board who I'm trying to get a handle on, trying to understand. Don't fret about them; the important thing is that you are in a community of folks who are interested in general QVC talk, people who want to get quality merchandise for reasonable prices.
MareKitty, That makes two of us. When you have it all figured out PALEEEEEEEEZE send me a PM. I've given up. TY

Desi, I've tried to reach out to those people. To no avail (yet). For some reason, I don't want to give up on people that are having a hard time at life (and that is true of so many of us).
I am not a sensitive person by nature -- so if somebody wants to trash or diss me, it really doesn't matter.

Good Morning Everyone!
Thank you so much for the warm welcome to your board. I really appreciate it : )
I live in South Florida, so I have not had to deal with rabbits in my garden, but we have armadello! (sp?) They dug up my food spikes!!! That is why I ordered the Spray-N-Grow! I love to garden and enjoy orchids very much.
I look forward to having a great time here with you folks! Thanks again.

ORCHIDS! Do tell--what do you have? I have a greenhouse full of them, and I am in the Wisconsin Orchid Society. Fighting the ever-lasting mealy bug battle right now. Thank God for Safers Insecticidal Soap. I love all of them--have the best luck lately with intergeneric odont's right now, and I have three different encyclias in bloom as we speak.
My boss just got back from working the big show in South Beach--did you go to it?

Hi Justme, my parents live in Boynton Beach and my brother & his family live in Weston. Do you live near them? Just curious. It must be gratifying to garden in FL. The climate is perfect for plants. Here, in MD, I have luck with black-eyed susans, purple coneflower, impatiens, hostas and zinnias. I'm afraid to try roses because I think they might need too much care. Orchids sound like they are delicate and require special attention. Leila

I live in the big bustling metropolis of Vero Beach, Florida. It is a bit north of Boynton Beach. It really is a lovely area and I am very happy living here.
We have 52 Orchids now! They are not as delicate is people think. Orchids love the humid Florida weather though, making them pretty easy around here. I water mine every other day and use Super-Thrive once a week. So far, so good. I have quite a collection. So far I have Cattleya Maxima, Laelia, Phaleanopsis, Oncidium, Vanda’s, etc. They are all doing great and many are in bloom. Some is spike. Others are just taking a rest for a bit. They are a lot’s fun and keep me busy! I have not joined the Orchid Society here yet, but am thinking of it. I do go to show’s upon occasion, but didn’t make it to the one mentioned. I go to the shows and come home wondering where I am going to put everything I bought!
I also have a beautiful herb garden, roses, impatience, ixora and a small vegetable garden. It is plenty to keep me on my toes.

Deb, your orchids sound amazing. Boy, you sure have a green thumb. I would love to see pictures of your gardens. They sound beautiful. It takes a lot of hard work to garden the way you do. I throw down some Osmocote, and a little water and keep my fingers crossed. Keep up the great work. Leila

Hi Deb--
Your orchid collection will keep growing out of control--mine did too. I started with a couple orchids in a window, expanded to two windows and two patio doors. Then I put them under grow lights in the basement, when my collection soon blocked all my windows! Then didn't do well with the change in growing conditions, and I pretty much lost all my orchids--about 200 of them. I was crushed. It was a slow painful death too--a couple each week.
I lucked out then--a member of the orchid society lived a half mile away, and he'd have me housesit and take care of his greenhouse full of orchids when he travelled. Well, he retired to Vermont 4 years ago, and I bought his house, greenhouse, and all of his orchids!
It is an addicting hobby! Let me know if you ever have any questions--I have grown and killed virtually every genera by now!
Very politically-incorrect sidenote now.....Thanks so much for not being a big pouty puke when you joined in! You have a wonderful attitude and others should take a lesson from you. THANK YOU!

Welcome, JustMe! What a great BB name! WOW, you live in Vero Beach??? How lucky can you get!!!! We vacationed at the Disney resort there back in 1996 & absolutely fell in love with that area! Always wanted to go back, but haven't made it yet. Maybe some day.
Your orchids sound absolutely heavenly!! My husband really loves orchids, & used to have a few plants, but they all died. His favorite is phaleanopsis, & we even have a gorgeous watercolor painting of them hanging over our piano to keep us reminded of how his plants looked when blooming. We live very near west Michigan's fabulous botanical gardens, which has a fabulous orchid "wall" so we can see all varieties as often as we like without having to keep them all here in our condo.
Stel, your greenhouse you "inherited" sounds marvelous, as does all your artwork. We love art, & have collected it for decades. Sure would love to see all you make some day!! Hey, I also loved your "very politically incorrect side note". So true!!!
Enjoy your time on this BB, JustMe(Deb). Happy Memorial Day!

Vero Beach is a lovely place. The Disney Resort here is one of the best and a lot of fun. Hopefully you will make it back here one day soon!! Vero Beach is really growing.
I just got in from a quick dip in the pool. It was hot here today. Great for the orchids, but not so great for us humans!
Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend everyone.

Sandi, if I ever get my off my behind (large one at that!) and get my orchid prints on-line, I'll let you know. I am pretty proud of them.
Hey, the one orchid I can't grow? PHALAENOPSIS! So, don't feel bad, Buy a couple paphs--beautiful, long lasting lady slipper flowers--not too temperamental!

Hey, Stel, I've heard others mention your web site. How would I find it or access it? Sounds like you have photos of the animals you've rescued on it, too. I'd love to see whatever you have on it, including the photo of you. I highly doubt your butt is that big, & I know you aren't mean!! HA!! Hopefully this BB will once again settle down now that we know who is who, etc. Thanks for the reply.

Sandi!
First, I tried to answer your PM--box is full. So, in code here.....I agree with you 100%--I thought the same darned thing! You gave me inspiration, so I am going to follow your lead.
Second, I am glad I came across this--I forgot who lived in Michigan and liked orchids. You can PM me your address, and I'll send you some of my prints, okay? I'd like you to have them. Tell your husband the artist is internationally famous, and you are friends with her! : )
My web site, well, it's not mine, I just have a page....Anyways, it is at www.gsraw.com. Click on Happy Endings, scroll half way down and click on Klaus and Ava. The picture with me is horrible. It is on our annual death march in the boundary waters. It is a five hour hike, it's always roasting hot, the horseflies are killers, but it's tradition. I have to get that site updated. Ava has many more current adventures! Today, in fact, she ate my Toni Pony from HSN! Was she making a pro-QVC statement?

Hi, Stel! Nice to read your reply! I just sent you a PM. Don't know what's up with mine since there's nothing in it as far as I can tell. I'll send another one with the pertinent info you requested. Wow! I'm excited about your orchid prints, too!! Thanks a bunch!! I'll be checking out your web site page, to see you & your fur babies soon. Thanks for posting that info again.
I'm hoping your trip to the doctor went well today. I haven't read anything about it but just got here, & it's so late that I might not get to read many threads before bedtime. I'll keep you in my prayers.
