Hi, Karen, Elsie, & Beve!

Thanks sooooooo much for the kind words, & for missing me & wanting me to return. Even though I was a bit taken aback at the recent "happenings" here, I truly wasn't staying away due to that incident. I've been sooooooo busy working in my yard & garden that I haven't had the time, the energy, or the inclination to read & post on the BB. I'll try to rectify that situation!!

Again, thanks for looking for me & wanting me back!! I truly appreciate it - more than you could ever know!!!

Take care & have a safe & happy Memorial Day Weekend all!! (((((Hugs))))) to you all!!!

Sanjoro (Sandi)

P.S. Karen, I just sent you an email.

Welcome back, and looking foward to reading more from you.

Hey, Beve, are you as worn out & sore as I am from overdoing it in the garden?? My legs/knees are killing me! I'm getting too old for this stuff, yet I really love my garden. It's looking so beautiful right now, with so many things in bloom. With every passing year, though, it gets more & more difficult to keep it all up, & that's with a much smaller garden!! We now live in a condo, & our garden isn't nearly as huge as at our previous house, where it was the entire yard - front & back! Now, we have a much smaller area, but have enlarged it around the side of our unit since we're on an end. My hubby reminded me today, as he was helping me, that we are trying to do too much still. I just love the results. It's my main hobby. How about you??

Take care & enjoy the holiday weekend!

Hi Sandi,
We worked most of the day putting down mulch and edging. I like the edging deep so the mulch looks rounded and mounded. I agree with you that's it's too much work, and each year it seems to get bigger. We have lots of shrubs that always need trimming. I don't usually plant a lot of flowers, because if we go away and it doesn't rain, they shrivel and die. Besides which, I have a brown thumb.

We have more mulching tomorrow and like you, my back and knees are hurting. We are too old for this stuff too. My hubby is "much" older than I am ( I kid him about that all the time) and it's tough work.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Hi Sandi, I'm thinking of you on this Memorial Day Weekend. Have fun. Don't work too hard. Labor Day is at the end of the summer. Come out and play with us. ;)

Hi, Beve & Desi (Deb),

Nice to have more messages from you guys today! I am finished with my gardening for the day after starting this morning. We got all our flats planted as well as edging done, etc. We both are very exhausted & sore, but it looks great outside!!

Desi, you are soooo correct in that Labor Day isn't until September! I guess we made the Memorial Weekend an early "labor week"! Glad that is over, although we just bought a few more bags of mulch & might have to go back for more. Oh well, that's my husband's area & he's much stronger than I am!! Beve, I hope you got the rest of your mulching finished today so you can rest & relax the next couple of days. I certainly hope to do that here!!

Take care - both of you! Now I need to catch up on the BB.

Sanjoro (Sandi)

P.S. Turtlelady, if you read this, thanks for the email! I'll reply soon.

Sandi,
We need more mulch! Another 10 bags for sure. We did the front and part of the side of the house, but hubby has to buy more. So that's it for today. My glutius maximus is hurting, so it's just as well.

Hope you finish up today and that you wont hurt too badly.

Enjoy the balance of your weekend.

Hi, Beve!

We just came in because it started to rain. My hubby was spreading our new mulch & had wanted to get all 3 new bags spread before determining if we needed more & how much more. He does want to buy some for our condo entranceways & is willing to spread it there himself to save our association some money. The mulch is on sale this weekend - 3 bags for $8. He's such a nice guy!! The rains have halted his afternoon work, so now I can be inside & read this BB for a bit. Yeah, my glutius maximus is hurting, along with my knees (all swollen from so much work!!). We both are achy, but are getting used to feeling this way! Good luck with your additional 10 bags of mulch, Beve! Hope you have some fun yet this weekend, too!

Sandi, sorry to hear your work was halted from the rain. We have had so much in the past weeks. Today was the first day no rain or thunderstorms predicted. However, tomorrow is another story.

Hubby bought 10 more bags, and we will continue on Tuesday. Tomorrow we will go on a picnic with some friends, puppy and our son.

Hope you give yourself some R & R for the remainder of the weekend.

Thanks, Beve! I just wrote a bit more on the yard work subject (as well as other subjects) on that Town Hall Meeting thread, so you might want to read it. Glad you got your other 10 bags of mulch. We'll probably be back to the garden store tomorrow for more.

Have a great time on your picnic. We don't have any plans for tonight or tomorrow, although I'm thinking about calling some friends to see if they want to play some cards tonight. At this late date, most people probably have other plans, but we'll see.

Thanks for all your great replies!!

Sandi, hope you get the mulching done tomorrow. It makes you feel so accomplished. I stood back to look at what we did, and I gotta say, I liked it lots.

Enjoy your holiday time off.

Beve

PS...I read the other post you wrote on the town meeting. I'll bet your landscaping and plants look wonderful.

Well, Beve, we did run out of mulch, just like you did. Now, we need to buy more tomorrow. What's been done looks great, though, just like yours does. I agree that it's such a feeling of accomplishment & pride when everything looks so "finished" like that. Love, love, love it!!!!!

Now, I have to move on to my next big project, which is getting ready for our spring garage sale next Friday & Saturday. I have tons of stuff to haul up from the lower level for the sale, besides the 50 pots of perennials I dug up to sell. This coming week will be really busy for me with this next "event". It's always something, eh?

Take care!

We had our garage sale two weeks ago. It was held at my friend's house. I didnt have much to sell, but she had lots. It's so much fun but that can be a lot of work too. Just think how great it will be when you get rid of your stuff and have money for it to buy more stuff,...LOL

Well, off to the track for my walking.

Have a great one, Sandi

Thanks, Beve. I'll let you know how my sale goes Friday & Saturday. I have sooooo much stuff. We have 2 garage sales condo-wide each year: spring & fall. I always do both, & have done sales for many years - way before moving here to the condo 4 years ago. My mom continues to bring stuff over here for me to sell, & I get to keep the money! Can't beat that!! It's how I earn my own "spending money". Hope I do well!!

Hope you had a good walk this morning. We had rain overnight & again this morning, but now it's sunny & in the 70s. Quite breezy, though, but that beats heat & humidity!

Have a good week, Beve!

Sandi, I managed to get my walking in, but shortly after that it began to rain. So, no mulching and no planned picnic. We took our son to the movies to see Shrek. It was really cute.

Take care
