Just wanted to thank all the vetrans and all those who are currently serving....May God Bless You all!

Trevor, this is for you....we all do think of you and thank you for your service to our country...as well as this wonderful BB.

Maybe we could all mention those that are near and dear to us who are serving or have served!

Thanks for reminding us that this weekend is more than barbeques and parades, TURTLELADY. My husband was in the Army and my son was a Marine. God bless all our wonderful men and women in the military.

I want to say a thank you to all the vets that have served our country. Right now I am talking to my daughters boyfriend he is in Iraq and I am telling him how proud I am of him. He hopes to come home for a two week break soon but he never knows from day today.

I wanted to thank Sophie, I discovered through her post that you could enter someone in the online WWII Memorial. I just entered my Dad. What a great thing, I am so lucky that he is still with me to experience it.

In Memory

One gift, above all others
The Creator gives to us to treasure
One that knows no time, no place
And one gold cannot measure

The precious, poignant tender gift
Of memory, that will keep
Our dear ones ever in our hearts
Although God gives them sleep

It brings back long remembered things...
A song, a word, a smile
And the world's a better place because
We had them for awhile!

Thank you, turtlelady, for starting this thread - and everyone else who posted. I'm retired from the Army and my husband is retired from the Coast Guard. I work as a veterans service officer and know how much it means to hear a simple "thank you for your service!" Find a veteran or two this weekend and thank him or her... Thanks!!

*smiling* pssst... Pookie, remember - your son will always BE a Marine! I once referred to a client as a "former" Marine and he nearly decked me... I learned right then that "once a Marine - always a Marine!" Please, thank him and your husband for me!!

TURTLELADY, You always seem to bring a smile to my heart...

I don't know if anyone got an e-mail from Trevor the other day. He thanked someone for sending him a care package. He said he really likes chips, treats, etc. Obviously things you don't find in that God awful place. I was wondering what I was going to do tonight. Well thanks to you Turtlelady, I know. Sam's Club, here I come.

Syracuse I will be praying for the safe return of your daughter's boyfriend and thank him for us.

If anyone is in the West Chester area on Sunday, my son and husband are going to reenact the Revolutionary War with the 2nd PA regiment and other regiments as well. If you are interested just drop me a PM... would be glad to give you the details.

To my dad, father in law, uncles and friends in heaven thank you for your military service during WWII and the Vietnam War. God bless you.

Syracuse, next time you or your daughter talk to her boyfriend, let him know that he now has a whole bb thinking of him, thanking him, and praying for his safe and speedy return! Thanks for sharing with us.

Desi, I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I don't know anyone serving and this is the first time that you can't send "general" packages to those who might not get things. I used to do that - "any service man"

TURTLELADY, TY,TY,TY. I was going to Sam's Club and you know how much you get for sooooo little money. I looove your suggestion. Been saving all my QVC boxes and will put some of my son's boyfriends to work this weekend. Thanks again.

oooops... I just realized you said can't.... but I do know a few military men and women in the neighborhood so you did plant the thought in my mind anyway.

TURTLELADY

desi, they don't take packages "for any service man" this year. since 9/11 they have really cracked down. you have to have the name and address...so unless trevor reads this and lets us know of a few people that serve with him that might not get anything - we only have trevor.

Ananigma--cute story--glad that Marine didn't hurt you! I'll have to remember that when I speak about any Marine from now on. I'll pass your thanks on to my husband and son. I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

SBTZmom- - do you have M.S. That's the only thing I can think of that we might have in common. I have 2 children, 2 step children, 2 grandchildren and 2 dogs and 1 husband you may have some of those things in common but I think I talked to turtlelady the other day and asked her who on the board had M.S. we were talking about QVC's cure by the shore. Anyway thanks for the nice welcome. Good to talk to you.

Tomorrow would have been my Dad's 84th birthday. I called my mom to let her know I want to register him. He has been gone since 1983 - funny but it seems just like yesterday that he was still alive. We always celebrated (or honored) Memorial day because it was his birthday. His was in the Phillipines during WWII. He was a wonderful father. Thanks for letting me share that with you. I miss him.
God Bless all of our soldiers and their families. Doodle.

msbdoodle, thanks for sharing special memories of your father. He sounds like he was a fine man and a great dad. My Dad is turning 82 in June and he too, was in the Phillipines and Hawaii (Army)during WWII.

Eskie Ruth...my husband had MS, and I have 2 grown children, so those are definitely common links!

I hope you are doing well :) There are many on this board who have had their lives touched by MS...it is an amazing group of people. I am happy to know you!

Pookie thanks, even at 56 I feel very sentimental about him today.
I usually supress those feelings. (about missing him I mean - cause I can't change things and I just try to think of happy and fun times)
I know it made my mom feel good when I explained what I was going to do today by entering him online for WWII.

God Bless all our armed service guys! Thanks for your dedication to our country!

My Pat served for 8 years, and I am proud of him. He and Andy are at the WWII Memorial celebration this weekend, and I am so pleased that my stepson, at such a young age (8), can recognize and honor those who serve our country, and not just look at this as a trip to get out of school. We need more people who truly appreciate and honor those who served.

God bless our veterans and those serving in foreign lands to keep our freedom free!
My Dad was a WWII vet and I was thrilled that they now have their own monument.
Can someone please tell me how to get to the WWII website where I can add my Dad's name?
Love and miss you,Daddy. RIP

Hi Everyone, I am new here and am thrilled that there are so many messages for our veterans today. I am married to a Marine (yes, once a Marine, always a Marine). My husband served in Vietnam and he is a life member of our local Marine Corps league. We have a very dear friend (Kevin, also a Marine) who is leaving this Wednesday for his second tour of duty in Iraq -- needless to say, I thank you all for your kind words.
