Hi all~
I'm looking for a great foundation. I've been using BE, but I just can't decide if I LOVE it or not. I'm 49 yrs old and holding - it may be my imagination, but I think it emphasizes my pores and has a slightly glassy look. I'm thinking I'm a little too old for it. BUt if anyone has any suggestions as too how to use it better, I'd appreciate it..
Anyhow, I don't really like liquid foundation. Can anyone recommend a solid foundation in a compact that you really like? Not too heavy and not too light... not too fussy, am I?? :)
Thanks in advance for your thoughts...
Love this board,

Hi-
I was just wondering that too, and teetering on ordering BE but thinking about the age thing, so you saved me some money. Thank you! I'm watching for solutions to our quandary.

Try HSN. Addriene's Signature Club A has a line for over 40. Foundation is great and so are the creams, been using them for many years and have been very satisfied. I agree with you BE seems to bring out the wrinkles and makes your pores look larger. I just tried BE for the first time and am not pleased at all I will stick to Signature Club A from HSN.

Mohave Mogic's All-in-One- Self Adjusting Duo foundation is good. It's in a stick form and easy to apply. Just make a few swipes over your face then use fingers or a sponge to smooth out over your face.
There are two shades in the stick so you can make it fit your skin tone.

I really like MAC cosmetics. The have a foundation that is in a compact with a sponge. Not quite as beige as I would like and I have always used a liquid foundation forever...............
One of my friends suggested MAC and I have found that I don't have to put it on thick and it looks more natural than liquid foundation..and I need a lot of coverage..small brown spots etc.
It is not shiny either. Never used a compact style foundation before....
Absolutely love their eyeliners, lip glosses, lip pencils and eyeshadows!!!!!!!
Their pencil eyeliner goes on like it is liquid and dries waterproof.
Does anyone else use MAC??????

I LOVE MAC! Use it quite a bit! They have this lip glos called Tasti that I live for. Tastes like sugar, and is beautiful! I use their eyeshadows and foundation, along with BE foundation. I get bored easily, so I switch often.

What is MAC and where do you purchase it?

Katie--I get mine at Marshall Fields--do you have one by you?
Grammie, yes, the Mohave Magic Duo foundation is awesome too! I agree. I use that when I need a little heavier coverage. I have very picky skin, and this is one product that covers well and doesn't irritate my skin. Good suggestion! VERY easy to use too!

Katie, MAC is (Makeup-art-cosmetics).
You can go to www.maccosmetics.com and find a store.
In Gainesville, Fl. it is inside of Macys/Burdines and at the Avenuves Mall in Jacksonville, MAC has their own store, so I wouldn't know how they would market it in your area.
I even order online.
I have also seen articles about it in W Magazine where I get my hair done.
Liza Minelli (sp) uses it. I, of course, don't use the depth of color that she does and don't use it because she uses it.
I just happen to like MAC - not sure if they have skin care.
I use something else for skin care. (Actually I have been trying different skin care lines, not sure what I am going to stick to in the skin care area.)

I use Laura Geller's cream to powder foundation in Bisque. It has an SPF of 30 and goes on very well. Covers age spots (ugh). It comes with a non-latex sponge if you prefer to apply it that way and is in a compact. I use it over Geller's Spackle-I swear by Spackle and have it on auto-deivery. The Spackle gives a nice glow-not shiny at all.
Hope this helps!
I love, love, love talking about hair, cosmetics and beauty products!!!

Hey Stel. Glad you like the Mohave Magic foundation, too, and I agree with you about using it when you need a little but more coverage. I seem to use it more in the winter, too, and use my BE othertimes.

I love BE foundation - but you need to use mineral vail with it. I put on MV first, then the foundation, and another layer of MV. I found by putting on the MV first the foundation looks smoother. You should also try the clear radiance. I get so many compliments when I use it.
If you like liquid foundation better then try dr. denese vit c foundation. The coverage is great and goes on very nice.

Thanks for the idea Dukie using the MV under and over. I am going to try that tomorrow!
I am watching Dr. Denese right now and I highly recommend this discovery kit. There is a day cream that is tinted like foundation. It is spectacular. Great for older skin. Please try it. You won't be disappointed.

I have been using one by Cover Girl- I think its called Aqua Smooth. Its a cream in a blue oblong compact, and the coverage is nice and with moisturizer underneath, I like it very much . It costs under $10. (like 7 or 8 but who knows.). I get it at Walmart, Target, etc.

I guess I wasnt too clear --- I meant to say that I put moisturizer under the cover girl foundation- it does not come with moisturizer, but it really is pretty good stuff. Enjoy. As they say in QVC lingo for under $8 you get a good foundation ( it might cost $7.62 or something like that at Target or Walmart).

This may not be popular since it's not a QVC product, but Clinique Superbalance Makeup is so nice, light, and great coverage. Under $20.

I use Clinique, too -- Balanced makeup. It's perfect for my skin. Clinique has a new line of foundation called Superfit that's oil-free. I tried it and it went on like a dream, but it burned my eyes (I'm sensitive to a lot of products), so I stopped using it. I need something I can slather all over my whole face ;-)

Love Cover Girl Aqua Smooth. I have strange skin, oily underneath but dry on top and this stuff works great and lasts all day. And I have tried them all from top of the line to cheap crap.

I use Covergirl Aquasmooth in the winter, but the minute
it starts getting humid I switch to BE. I always use the
lightest shade in any foundation and these two work for
me. Used BE today and was rather stunned at how good
it looked--I was not blessed with good skin. For some
reason I never had the problems that others have with
BE. And like others on this thread I used many high
end and SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM products. I have incredibly sensitive
skin--I know many of the hosts say they do but when
I've tried products they said they could use had bad
reactions. I think my family paid for our dermatologist's
daughter's lavish wedding. My mother, father, brother and I should
should have kept him on retainer. I recently mentioned the
derm who kept telling me that Irish skin is a real
challenge--and when I told him I was Jewish, he said
we all have our cross to bear. Went to a new derm--
a Jewish guy with real sensitive skin but wondered re
his I.Q. because he said he rarely sees a natural blonde
