I decided to take a new hobby in scrapbooking and don't know where to start. Any suggestions? I want to put my wedding pictures in a scrapbook and decorate the pages. Any ideas what supplies I would I need to accomplish this? Thanks!

Yes, I am and I love it. Most of my supplies I have gotten on the Q. I would suggest you start with a scrapbooking kit and go from there. Then you can get the tools you want...different scissors, pens for journaling, cutters, etc. If you are wanting to do one for your wedding pics look for an appropriate album and if you want to crop pictures be sure you have copies of any you might want to save otherwise. There are also scrapbooking stores that have classes. Check out the internet, too. Hope this helps.

I tried scrapbooking a couple years ago when I was laid up from a broken leg for 9 months. I was down for so long I thought it would be a way to get pictures organized, but I got very bored with it. I guess I'm not very crafty, then I tried making jewelry, not good at that either. I'll just stick to buying jewelry from QVC. Everything wound up in the garbage.

Hey Princess, I have been wanting to take up scrapbooking for a few years now but must admit, I feel exactly like Tlc, I am not crafty and get bored with it. I hate trying to figure out how to organize all the pics. I am TERRIBLE at organizing anything..lol!!! My friend used to sell supplies for Creative Memories and I bought a small album from her and my daughter actually made a scrapbook out of it of her birthday tea party and it turned out wonderful. Creative Memories is soooo expensive though which is why I just bought the small album. Anyway, when you start let us know how it goes as I personally would be very interested to hear about how your coming along with it.

I am not into scrapbooking, I do rubber stamping. In fact if anyone lives near the Syracuse,NY area there is a rubber stamp and scrapbook convention this weekend. I'm going with my mom tomorrow it's great fun.SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMwww.rubberstampexpo.com/nyinfo.html

I'm into scrapping. I'd suggest picking up a couple of magazines, first of all to see what's out there. Simple Scrapbook, Paperkuts, Scrapbook, Etc. Creating Keepsakes are a few popular ones.
As for organizing photos, I think doing that would pretty much deter anyone from scrapping, considering alot of us have years worth of photos. Start from your recent photos and scrap them. Then go backwards or skip around, whatever fits your fancy. If you're doing family (as most of us are!) get a 3 ring binder album and put your finished layouts in there. I suggest 3 ring, as if you scrap out of order, you can easily put your pages in the album in order.

Hope that helps!

I love scrapbooking! Grammie is right. I think if you are just starting out, you should get a kit. Once you get the hang of it, you will develop your own still and get new ideas.

I'm glad you started this thread and hope that you ladies will help me out along the way. I have not done any scrapbooking. I'm low on patience and not the neatest in the world so I have avoided getting into it for my sake and for the sake of others....(those that would be around me and anyone that would be the recipient of the product)! However, my middle child, daughter, is getting married in October. I would like to make her a scrap book that would have the preps engagement breakfast, picking out her dress, their open house for their new home, bridal showers, and then some wedding photos. I think I should sort of start getting some of this stuff organized as I go...like maybe dragon suggested ...in a 3 ring binder? What should I buy? Are there covers that would be appropriate? What about those sticker things....Will you ladies help me along the way? Remember...10 thumbs....and the attention span of a 2 year old. Thanks.

Hi Turtle! I'm very close to you! Just south of SF and I work in SF! My DD just got married in October, too!
Check out Beverly's at Westlake. (Can I say this?) Sign up for their mailings and you'll get coupons for 40% off and check out their web coupons. That'll at least save you a few pennies!!
QVC does offer great kits and it does depend on how you want to make it. Some people like simple (that's me) some like very feminine and flowery and then again, there's alot of other styles. I suggest checking out the MBs to the magazines as they have galleries of people's work posted (usually). At least that way, you'd have an idea of what you like and the look you want to go for. Also, they do have scrapbook wedding books that you may want to check out.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll continue to check in from time to time. The next earthquake you feel may be me throwing the dang scrapbook and jumping up and down on it!

Hey there Turtlelady. If you go to a craft store, they usually have tons of supplies and a variety of albums to choose from. Or even Walmart which might be cheaper! Sounds like you already have a good plan for your first album! Let us know how it is coming along.

Thanks Grammie for your response. I am going to check the items available on QVC.com now. I know Michael's craft store always has an ad with 40% coupon on anything so I may consider getting a scrapbook there.
