I haven't tuned into QVC much lately and not at all when she's been hosting. I didn't recognize her and if not for her voice wouldn't have known it was her. I didn't think she looked like she needed plastic surgery so what happened?

puddy

A botox party!

08-26-2004, 08:24 AM
LOL ... a LITTLE bit more than a botox party!

puddy
08-26-2004, 08:24 AM
ok, a botox party and a bag of nickles!

beekeeper
08-26-2004, 08:34 AM
I'm all for cosmetic surgery if it makes you feel better about yourself! I'll do it one day ... as necessary!

I think she had a serious face peel, botox, liposuction on her double chin and finally, collagen in the lips. They have toned down quite a bit from when she first came back! I think she looks great!

puddy
08-26-2004, 08:43 AM
The swelling has gone down then? I didn't think she needed anything done right now! If she felt that she did, ok then, but I should look that bad - especially at 7:00 a.m.! She's still there...

'morning all - I agree that Pat looks better than when she first "got back" but (forgive me) I am really against plastic surgery. Unless it's reconstructive, we have to face the grim fact that we're all aging! I do my best at it - I work out every day, get my hair done, etc., but it is still happening - I'm not 22 anymore. I think we need to embrace our age and realize we are making freaks of ourselves. JMO.

puddy ... she had this work done several months ago now ... her lips were HUGE at first ... she could barely talk.

She was pretty before, and still is. She's another one that seems genuine, like Mary Beth and Lisa M.

Pat James DiMentri makes me wacko. She is always carrying on about how old she is, when she is not. If I see her on, I immediately turn the channel. For me personally, her personality makes her ugly.

And as far as all of that cosmetic surgery, I think you should just go with what God gave you. I'm not saying you shouldn't take care of yourself, but all that garbage she did just proves how vain a person she really is.

Pat gets a thumbs down from me.

Precsissy
08-26-2004, 09:10 AM
I think Pat is very insecure about her age. She certainly isn't that old. Maybe 40-41? Hopefully she'll 'outgrow' it. She hasn't learned the benefits of aging yet.

And, I would tell them what they are if I could remember them. But I do know I'm enjoying them. I think.

puddy
08-26-2004, 09:16 AM
Ditto on the benefits of aging, Precissy! I love where I am right now - old enough to know better, young enough to not care and smart enough to get away with it! ;p

beekeeper
08-26-2004, 09:27 AM
Hmmm ... you might be right about her being insecure, but if the cosmetic surgery makes HER feel better, I say go for it!

I'm 35, and so far ... things are holding pretty well! :-) I will, however, do what it takes to stay "feeling good" about my looks. Lets face it, looks matter in todays world! It would be easy for me to say that I would be doing it for me, but in reality, we care what others think! Is it wrong that I (and millions of others) put so much validity in what Hollywood and society expect, OF COURSE IT IS, but we still do it! Who knows ... maybe my opinions on such matters will change as I actually start to see the effects of aging on my face! My mother still looks FAB, so I'm hoping I am blessed the way she is!

What I hate is the fact that men seem to :get better" with age and women are desperate to look younger the older they get. That is what society says anyway not me.

beekeeper
08-26-2004, 12:18 PM
You're absolutely right qvcqueen! I do think it's getting better with time!

Did you see "somethings gotta give" with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton? Will somebody please tell me what is so frickn' sexy about Jack?!? I just don't get it ... he looks like my grandfather! While he hobbled around, looking every bit his age ... Diane looked FABULOUS!

"Will somebody please tell me what is so frickn' sexy about Jack?!?"

Maybe the fact that he's a millionaire? ;)

IMO Pat ruined her looks when she had this surgery done.

She looks absolutely terrible. If she is that paranoid of looking a little bit older, she needs to get away from the cameras.

I have heard others sugest that she should sue her plastic surgeon.

OMG - plastic surgery gone bad - reminds me of that freak show "The Swan"!

To be honest Jack is so old looking because of his cigarette and pot smoking not to mention the booze, It will do it to you every time

You can age like wine or like cheese - he's a really stinky cheese - like dirty socks! PU!

beaglelvr
08-26-2004, 02:14 PM
Hear hear - I agree with the PU stinky cheese Jack Nicholson. How about we get a little more pleasant mental picture? Say, Sam Elliott? He's a better smelling cheese in my book!

How about Paul Newman? I think he's pretty darn attractive for any age.

Robert Redford is still gorgeous. Wrinkled but gorgeous wrinkles.

puddy
08-26-2004, 02:37 PM
Don't you think the good on the inside SHOWS on the outside? That's what makes a man attractive, IMHO. Robert Redford appears to have never had surgery and he's got to be real purdy inside! Remember him in The Great Gatsby - gasp!

QVC Queen

ditto, ditto, ditto on Robert Redford!!! Also like Paul Newman, Sean Connery. Vintage Gregory Peck and Clark Gable.

I think part of the "attraction" to Jack Nicholson is that he has those great facial expressions -- has a "naughty boy" look to him that is attractive and repulsive at the same time! It's NOT his looks.

puddy
08-26-2004, 02:56 PM
I think Jack is a little on the scary side. George Clooney - now that's naughty! When I think of Jack, I think of The Shining. Can't help it, it's burned in my brain!

QVC Queen
08-26-2004, 03:10 PM
He really got into that role. Scariest movie I have ever seen.. Even more than the old Texas Chainsaw Massacre

puddy
08-26-2004, 03:13 PM
I'm not kidding - I have never seen the movie and never want to. When a commercial is on to advertise it, I have to turn away. Not much scares me, but that does. I think he's a great actor. I love all of his other movies.

ladybug
08-26-2004, 03:14 PM
I agree, Puddy -- George Clooney is naughty and handsome!! I gained a lot of respect for Jack as an actor after seeing him in "About Schmidt." It was so totally against character for him and I thought he did a great job.

I used to have a thing for Harrison Ford until he started up with Calista Flockhart and seemed to be doing the "younger woman will make me younger" thing. I thought he had more brains than that. But, there may be more to her than I'm aware of.

puddy
08-26-2004, 03:20 PM
Harrison Ford is not atractive to me in the least. After seeing him on Larry King - the man could not even speak properly, the ahhs and umms were getting to me and how! I ain't no Bill Shakespeare, but come on dude, you're on national television! When he had his ear pierced - yuckie-poo! Not a good look for him. For some men though, oh baby! I'm thinking Harrison should act a little more refined maybe.

Let's put an end to this nonsense! First, Matthew Perry's dad and then when he gets one wrinkle, Matthew. I'm just using the father to get to the son. LOL

Pat and Dan have to go....he's so boring not funny, and she's is walking/talking in her sleep. I don't watch anymore in the morning when they are on, or Leah Williams, Jacqui Gonzales, etc...

08-28-2004, 02:39 PM
I agree about Pat. She is boring and if she left tommorrow, QVC wouldn't be too terribly affected. She just isn't one of those engaging host personalities. Unfortunately botox doesn't add excitement to her personality and presentations.

Dan on the other hand should definately be kept, if just for his show For Race Fans Only. He runs a fantastic NASCAR show. HSN had a NASCAR show with a guy named Rich Hollenburg as the host and it was awful. I couldn't stand that show. Dan does a fantastic job selling NASCAR stuff, is very knowledgable and interacts with the NASCAR drivers very well. Kim Parrish and Christa Pitts attempted to fill in for Dan and they were awful as hosts for the show. For Race Fans Only is definately Dan's and only Dan's show.

I need to put in my 2 cents' worth about Jack Nicholson - great actor - I thought About Schmidt was great - but as a sexy guy? EWWWWW!!! I thought that when he was in "As Good as it Gets" with Helen Hunt! Sam Elliott, though - HOT. As far as QVC hosts - the absolute HOTTEST, IMO...BOB B! (LMAO - now I have your attention!) :) Actually, I still think Rick D wins. Cute but psycho.

08-29-2004, 06:26 PM
I think part of the problem is that the morning show needs to be reformated. It is getting dry and Pat looks bored with the whole morning show. What QVC could do is expand the morning show from 5 A.M. to noon. Run the whole lenght of the morning. Instead of having Dan and Pat host, expand that panel to 6 hosts who will switch off days. A few hosts each day. That way the lineup changes and you never know which of the six will be on. Then pick a mix of hosts with different personalities to mix things up. The lineup I would choose would be Dan H (for experience in the morning show. You need someone who has been there before and the past QVC morning show fans can relate to already), Rick (for his energy), Lisa R (the female version of Rick), Jayne (to calm things down between the ADD twins), Lisa M (for her ability to say interesting comments 24/7) and a new host (pick between Jacque, Christa, Laurie, Sharon, Shelia, Antonella, Dave J) who would add a new insight to the show. Then run the program as regular throughout the day.

Robert Redford--be still my heart--if I had a nickel
for every time I've watched "The Way we Were" I could
own QVC ( or have a hell of a lot of nickles). The movie
came out when I in a similar relationship in real life.
I kept going to see it and would start crying in the
lobby before it started. RR has not had cosmetic surgery--
he goes to the same derm in NYC a friend of mine does.
They both have the same skin condition that is sun
related. I saw Paul Newman in Ct. a few years ago. He
looks his age, but oh those eyes!

JACgirl
09-03-2004, 02:06 PM
You know what I have realized about face lifts, etc? I have noticed that they don't make women look younger than before-- one can still guess that they are in their 40s, 50s, 60s. About all it does is make them look a bit better and/or a bit more rested looking. I don't think it accomplishes making someone look younger, however. I don't think that it is because I am too poor and definitely too "chicken" for such matters---hmmmmm.

lancaster: I guess you don't consider having your eyes "done" plastic surgery? (I'm referring to Robert Redford.)

Precsissy
09-03-2004, 06:08 PM
Susiee: if you are suggesting that Robert Redford has had his eyes done, the only thing I can say is HUH? If you have seen him in the past several years, it is obvious that he has not had any work done. It kind of breaks my heart - he is/was so gorgeous. But it also makes me proud that he has accepted the aging process and is going with it. Good for him!

09-09-2004, 08:19 AM
Y'know what? Pat would look 1000% better if she'd just do something--anything--with her hair. It just lays there, all flat. There's no style, no swing, no nuttin'!

lancaster
09-09-2004, 08:26 AM
It's possible he's had his eyes done, but it's just not
noticeable. The skin problem he has is very hard to treat.
It's sun related--one loses pigment. I'm surprised he
doesn't wear better makeup to cover it. I used concealer
all over my friend's face for his daughter's wedding. It
was not a matter of vanity--many people attending had not
seen him since he got it and he did not want to detract
from the attention his daughter should be getting.

Precsissy
09-09-2004, 09:36 AM
Considering the condition of his facial skin, I can't imagine Redford having his eyes done. As someone said - why bother? The only reason I can think of is that as one ages [and believe me, I'm an expert at aging!] sometimes the eyelids begin to droop and sag to the point where they effect eye sight and need to be lifted so you can see!

Susiee

Just about the only plastic surgery that SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM will pay for is the eyes (sometimes breast reduction).

I used to watch Pat and think..."She is a beautiful lady, if only her lips were larger."
I think her recent cosmetic surgery was the best thing that ever happened to her.

Cosmetic surgery is not for me however, if I was in the profession she is, I would have it done.

You know I could not decide if PJD had surgery or went into Betty Ford. She always looked so bloated before. Iagree that she was swollen, but from what? In this age of HDTV actors and anyone in front of the cameras are far more insecure than they were in the past, because the magnifying glass is being held up close. Also, Pat is married to a News anchor is NY, maybe they got a family discount.

I've never been a huge fan of Pat. She seems so hung up on her looks.
I really don't notice a big change in her appearance. As for her husband, he was fired from his job in NY after 9/11. (there was a link posted on one of the boards) i think he now works in Philadelphia.

I have seen him on a Philly station now. I think Pat had botox too. When she laughs or smiles, her face hardly moves. When she put lipstick on recently on the morning show, it was too painful to watch.

I haven't seen her husband on TV lately. He was doing news at the odd times, not the main broadcasts. His station is not the one I watch most often but when I do tune in, I haven't seen him. I haven't heard that he left, so he is probably still around.

Pat definately did not look any better after the surgery. Honestly, it's time for QVC to let her go. Dan Hughes and Jayne Brown can do the morning show.

When the Morning Show was in the Bahamas, I thought how pretty Pat looked until the camera came in close. That surgery just makes her look strange. Everytime she is presenting a product, I end up not paying attention to what she's selling. I'm thinking why in the world she had surgery. If you want plastic surgery, fine, just go to a really good surgeon. Whoever did her work was not the best.

junebug
10-12-2004, 05:49 PM
I haven't paid much attention to Pat lately. Just catch a bit of the Morning Show sometimes when I get up -- it's over by 6 a.m. here. I do remember about 10 years ago when she was doing those Elegance of 18K Gold shows and would wear the Mary McFadden gowns. I thought she was very pretty and classy. Maybe she peaked then.

SIRGAL
10-13-2004, 07:28 AM
I remember Pat on the 18K gold shows also. She looked great and was always relaxed and comfortable. Since the surgery she is entirely different. She always seems nervous and unfomfortable. She even moves differently. Also, her hair seems a bit out of control. It really is a shame. She seen my so many people. The surgeon should be sued for doing such a dreadful job.

puddy
10-13-2004, 07:35 AM
Those were the days...Someone posted that her personality made her ugly a few weeks ago. It was a true statement. She seems so unhappy and after a while, there is no sympathy, just contempt. Maybe she needs to talk to a professional. She could have real issues with aging. There is so much in transition at QVC right now, I'm sure it doesn't help matters.

StillN/A
10-15-2004, 06:23 PM
Maybe Pat needs some more recovery time for her face appearance to improve.
