He was on shop at home selling electronics. When did he get hired?

Last night was his first night. Ron Popeil, the infomercial guru, helped him get the job.

How much do you think he gets paid? He can't be making more than he did at QVC.

His pay would be based on his experience, of course. But I agree he can't be making as much due to QVC being the top network. Connie Craig left Shopathome for more money, and now she's at HSN.

Steve said he took a 3 year vacation before coming back, and now he's moved to Nashville. I think he may be trying to get a music career going also.

One funny thing about this thread--almost 300 viewers--and only a handful of replies. This should tell readers how very much Steve Bryant is missed...

Did you ever see that infomercial with Steve Bryant and Esteban, the guitar player? Esteban always wears dark sunglasses. I have this theory that Steve B. and Esteban are one and the same person!

Why did Ron Popeil have to help him get this job? How do you know?
Did he mention this on the air? I just don't see him admitting something like that.

I think esteban said something about the glasses a while back.He said he wears those glasses because of an car accident that caused his eyes to get damaged.

Steve Bryant WISHES he was raking in as much $$$ as Esteban (however, Esteban means Steven in Spanish...)

Speaking of Spanish, I saw that Steve Bryant/Ron Popeil infomercial dubbed in Spanish on one of the Latino stations we get here in southern California. It all fits!!!!

I've never watched shop-at-home ... is it decent? Whenever I find the channel, it's always high end jewelry ... TEASING ME ... anybody have any opinions about the channel?

To be honest, if I turned it on and Steve Bryant hosting, I'd change the channel! :-( IMO, he is on the creepy side of things ... :-(

Bee, I am so there with you on Steve B. being creepy. I cringed when I saw him on SAH. Did anyone else notice he caught himself saying "Pionex" when talking about his previous bad computer. It was kind of funny, but not funny enough to keep me watching. It was at night and I was alone and frightened. Just kidding.

lol ... frightened! ME TOO! lol ...

Speaking of being scared, we saw the movie "Saw" on Halloween ... and I have been freaked out ever since! I hate being at home alone now, and find myself checking closets, under beds, behind doors ... I HATE IT!

Well, at the risk of getting royally bashed, Steve Bryant was always my favorite QVC host. I enjoyed his intelligence and his refusal to "toe the party line." I was always entertained when he was on, which is a whole lot more than I can say about a lot of the hosts on now. (Ducking and slinking quietly away now).

lol ... GET BACK HERE LINNYLEE! lol ... don't worry, all opinions are welcome here! We all disagree at times ... and that is what makes this site interesting!

Linnylee, I liked Steve Bryant too. He was entertaining and funny and didn't take himself seriously and sure didn't care what the muckety mucks thought of his antics on the Q. I wish we got Shop at Home here but we don't :(

Wow, I'm very surprised to read this thread. I live in the Philly area and used to listen to Steve on a local radio show. On his last night at the station he said he was leaving to be a weather man, local tv host and a radio host. My husband & I thought he was really loosing it. How could he be doing all three? Now, he shows up on that low budget Shop-at-Home show, I really am shocked. This guy is a real liar, I'm begining to wonder if all the other things he said in the past are true or just more fabrications. I feel very sorry for him, he used to brag on QVC to Tony Robbins that his goal was to retire before he was 50, then he claimed that HSN made him numerous offers, but they didn't reach his
"magic number", then he claimed to have this great offer as this weather man/tv host/radio host - and where does he end up? On Shop-at-Home, he keeps sinking lower & lower. He should have stayed at QVC.
Steve used to make fun at Dan Hughes career and how it was always falling or sinking. Ha, guess you really can't talk in life.

I never disliked Steve Bryant when he was on the Q because he was still another individual character which all of the original hosts were. I did object at times to his smug comments about how he would get a memo or be criticized for his behavior as if that was a badge of honor. If he knew he was stepping outside the suggested scope I really believe he should have left long before he did since the requirements bothered him. I do believe he is probably a decent human being whose ego is blowing the top off his very phony hair. He is obviously talented in many ways but appears to be very full of himself.

Some of the press materials have seemed to indicate that he is trying to give the impression he is doing a lot better than is probably the case.

Steve Bryant came across as a know-it-all with an ego the size of Mt. St. Helens. His smug, "I know more than you do" attitude is not missed by me or my family.

Poochie, I know because Steve thanked him on the air for helping to secure the job.

I don't make statements I can't back up.

I saw Steve tonight as he was introducing a vendor, and he welcomed him to Q..., they both broke up laughing, and the vendor got it together and said that should be ShopatHome.
Thought that was a funny moment, wonder how his producers liked it?

I just saw Steve on with a camera and when he welcomed the guest he said "Welcome back to QV.....oops.." it was too funny.

Sorry must have been posting the same time.

I forgot how much he makes me laugh. I found myself howling at least 5 or 6 times. He looks so handsome, he's not getting older, just getting better. :-)

My friends and I had a long running joke as to when Steve would update his website from 2001. Well, looks like he finally shut that waste of time down. This man has tried everything from music to radio and has failed at all of them. And where does he end up? Right back where he started - on a shopping channel. Only this time a real rinky dink one.
Hey Steve, call QVC and beg for your old job back, at least then you'll be seen more often and on the #1 shopping channel.

In my opinion, Steve Bryant was the worst male host (well, perhaps second worst, first prize going to Victor Velez) on QVC ever! His know-it-all attitude was a real turnoff, and so was the impression he gave that he'd really rather be doing something else--like playing the guitar, writing music, etc. His segments, Jammin' in the Kitchen with Steve, were laughable. They were like Bob Bowersox set to music.

Curvigirl
11-09-2004, 11:42 AM
Oh yeah, Jammin' in the Kitchen with Steve--that made about as much sense as having Bob doing Bare Escentuals, or Leah doing For Race Fans Only. (Come to think of it, they are coming close with Dan's new Total Look shows...)

Ok so I'm a serious Shop at Home fan, why is it ghetto? I'll admit the products have not always been the greatest but they are growing and growing fast! So don't count them out just yet!

Anyone see Steve on Shop At Home lately? I haven't seen him since the holidays and they don't have him in their list of hosts. Wondering if it was a part time gig or a trial.

Rowan

It is odd that he isn't on their host list....Hmmmm...I've always wondered if he acted as if he was to big for his britches off air, maybe they didn't like his attitude.

Sunny

He's on air occasionally, he's an executive there.

Shop At Home is owned by the same company that owns HGTV, Food Network, etc. Maybe they pay pretty well. Steve looks happy and has lost a little weight since he started at SAH. He seems to enjoy his work or he is putting on a very brave face. I wish him the best. With things the way they are at QVC, he would be gone anyway. He would have told them to pound it or they would have fired him because of his outspoken nature.

Lisa R. started at SAH and went to QVC. Steve is an executive? I can see that. I don't like his 'Hair Club' hair though...

I don't care for Shop at Home. First, my area only gets the station for 8 or so hours a day, and when it is on, they have this man with an annoying, heavy southern accent hosting coin shows. This company has more "Coin Vault" shows than anything else. Also, I was up very late one evening with my baby and I noticed that a few of the shows were taped not live. I realized this because the dates they refered to were not present time.

If Steve has obtained an executive position, I suggest he start addressing some issues, starting with some of the hosts and cutting down on those coin shows.

Sunny, if I may ask, how do you know Steve is an executive there? Did he mention this on the air? Just curious.

puddy

I agree about the coin shows. They have to cut back on the coin shows and the electronic shows. Three or four hours at a pop is just too much, IMO.
