.......... I see no category for the food network so I guess I'll post here.

Rachael Ray.. cute girl but if I had to hear her motor mouth all day long I'd have to hit her with a chicken fryer. (cooks essential of course)

Emeril Lagasse - who the hell has time to make his dishes. And for heaven sake Emeril that "oh yeah babe" should be reserved for the bedroom.

Paula Dean - still thinks she's 40 something but I like her. Except when she has a mouth full of food and starts talking right into the camera. Then I've seen enough.

Barefoot Contessa - quite a name and I wouldnt want to see the bottom of her feet. I like her gentle spirit but does she know how to make anything healthy on that show. When I tune in all I see is sticks and sticks of butter, cream cheese and sour cream going into dishes.

Sarah Moulton - Yawn. Wake me up when its over.

LOL. I can relate to what you're saying. Neither Emeril, Paula Dean or the Barefoot Contessa make healthy foods. Did you ever notice how the camera goes away real quick when Rachel Ray's butt will be in full view? I like Tyler Florence. At least he's nice to look at and his recipes are usually somewhat healthy.

Hey Sunshine, I agree with you on Tyler Florence. He's a cutie and I like his style and the way he cooks too. I heard him talk about his child once and I was like...WHAT ! Dont tell me your married now! You'll break this southern girls heart....lol.

Sandra Lee - the semi homemade woman. I like her ideas more than I like her.

Alton Brown - well I guess I have to like him since he is practically my neighbor. (lives in Atlanta, Ga.) I often wondered if the asian woman is his wife since she is in a lot of his shows. I like when he has his nephew on who is a carbon copy of him.

I don't watch the Food Network a lot because it seems Emeril is on ALLLLLL the time! Used to watch it more than I do now. Here are my thoughts:

Emeril -- WAYYYY too much into the celebrity and "entertainment." Turns me off. Least favorite along with the "science" guy.

Barefoot Contessa -- her voice is so soothing and watching her show is mesmerizing.

Paula Dean -- have only seen her a few times; I remember her being on QVC selling her cookbooks. I like her because she just seems like a lot of fun.

Rachael Ray -- cute; good ideas. Sometimes her grammar annoys me. Makes cooking seem fun and easy -- I like that!

Sandra Lee -- haven't seen her.

Sarah Moulton -- I like her and her shows a lot!! Very down to earth, friendly with viewers, gets the message out without resorting to a lot of flash (a la Emeril).

Paula Deen - My favorite. Everything she makes takes simple ingredients I am familiar with. Love her HOT sons too. I wish she lived next door. Cool lady!

Rachael Ray - Fun to watch but she wears me out with that constant chatter.

Barefoot Contessa - Simple, elegant.

Sandra Lee - Sorority girl type. Actually does not know much about cooking.

I hate this network

No offense to anyone who watches it

But personally, Watching people cook all day, just bores the hell out of me.

But no offense if you love to watch it.

I live in Western Massachusetts, and as a result, get only local New York television stations--and Rachel Ray started her career in Albany (actually, Niskayuna) NY. She is cute, funny and quick--but she yabbers and yabbers and yabbers and yabbers. I agree--I'd go nuts listening to her for a full television show!

I switched to a limited cable service a couple of years ago, so I no longer get the Food Channel. I really miss it. I used to like Alton Brown, Sara Moulton, and Ming Tsai (sp?). But on PBS I can still watch my all-time favorite chef -- Jacques Pepin! Love him!

I LOVE the foodnetwork! I watch every Saturday and Sunday morning! My faves are Ina Garten (barfoot Contessa) and Giada De Laurentiis (everday Italian). Ina is filthy rich, yet you wouldn't really know it by her mannerisms and personality. I love it when she goes shopping ... we get to see her drive up in her convertible Beemer! lol ...

As Ina would say ... "how bad could that be?" :-)

Giada is so pretty and is always smiling ... JUST LIKE Rachael Ray, my third fave.

Michael Chiarello is FABULOUS too ... DARN cute and he makes great food! Nothing sexier than a handsome man who can cook!

Tyler Florence is fun too ... he is now on how to boil water ... I liked the French guy who preceded him better though ... :-( talk about a HOTTIE!

Paula Deen is funny ... I like to watch her show, she makes me laugh and is always dipping into whatever she is making! lol ... her southern drawl is very comforting and keeps you watching.

Sandra Lee is alright ... a bit cheesy for me ... like she is trying to hard or something ...

Sara Moulton is a sweetie too ... but she gets a bit technical at times.

Bobby Flay is alright too, but he sweats too much, and there is NOTHING that turns me off more than a man with sweaty pit stains! BLECK!

I am tired of Emeril. I swear he is on just about every other hour. I'm also tired of Iron chef ... BORING!

Good Eats is my favorite I like the combination of humor and science in his show.

I know Rachael Ray has been ragged but I like her. I know some of you are going to say "Well the only reason he likes her because she is attractive". She is attractive but since I am single making a meal in 30 minutes, that doesn't require me going to a drive thru, is appealing. She does make things that I could actually make. So I have no problem with her.

Emeril is the poster boy for Food Network so he is going to have the most exposure. I don't mind his show but some of his recipes are way too much for me. Although his show is great for a drinking game in the same vain as The Bob Newhart Show where you take a drink anytime someone says "Hi Bob". Emeril all you have to do is wait til he says Yeah babe or if you really want to get hammered add "Pork fat rules, Kick it up another notch and of course BAM!

I like some of their specials too. Did anyone see the hot sauce competion in Texas. Where they had an extract so hot that before anyone tasted it they had to sign a waiver.

Rachael Ray cracks me up the way she always takes the first bite of food and says UMMMM! I'm referrring to $40 a Day. I do like her though.
She couldn't possibly eat all that food, though, or she would be huge, which she, obviously is not.
Speaking of the Food Network, I really enjoy the new kitchen makeover show, they come up with a great end result, money doesn't seem to be an object.

I miss the original "How to Boil Water" show.. he was a hoot! And the recipes were easy for those just starting out cooking. I miss the fun, off-the-wall shows.. I do like Alton Brown tho.

I saw this older thread and I'm hoping someone shares my feelings...
My two default channels are QVC and Food Network. I have been watching both for so long now. I think when Food Network came along I started watching more of FN and less of QVC(better on my credit card, and QVC was a HUGE guilty pleasure), but now I think they probably share equal amounts of viewing.

Rachael Ray. Hmmm. I used to LOVE her. Now although I can't stand the woman, I can't stop watching her shows. I'm addicted to that annoying personality and bad wardrobe. You would think after years of taping, she would get a stylist that would help her out (that part kind of links this thread to some of the QVC hostesses). Her EVOO. Her crazy laugh. Her phrases ("Yumm-o"). The ever moving hands. The too highlighted highlights. The impractical clothing when cooking. That one episode where she started wearing low cut v-necks (my guess is to "compete" w/Ms Giada), which absolutely grossed me out for some reason. Yet I cannot stop watching. Tuesdays 10pm EST are reserved for $40 A Day, even though I have seen all of them. Twice minimum. If I get home while 30 Minute Meals is on, I will watch that.

Believe me, I have vented to my friends, my boyfriend, my roommate, and they all don't understand. I can't stand the woman yet I must always tune her in!!!

Hmmmm....your affliction sounds very familiar.....give me a second......it's on the tip of my tongue......I know! That is exactly how I feel about certain show hosts on QVC!!!!!

YR Fan - I agree with you on R Ray - I'd like to see her take a bite of something she 'supposedly' doesn't like ... she seems to like EVERYTHING but I'm sure that is part of her contract. If she supposedly likes everything and eats it all - she should be way over 300 lbs.

Tyler F - Yummy Yum Yum. I love his show 'How to Boil Water' but they can do without that female chick who just sits there acting dumb. Talk about a waste of payroll $$$. She just sits there drinking coffee and drooling all over him.

I love Paula but her voice is really getting to me. Way too Southern and her dishes are way too fattening. Her two hunking boys are sweet though. She isn't a swelte young lass and I'm surprised she hasn't incorporated low cal, low fat meals in her show.

As for Emeril - he is getting old but I still love his show. He's funny as are his band members.

Nuff said!

This is a good thread! I watch FN all the time, too.

I think they're trying to make over Rachael Ray. She looks better in the brand new shows she's doing. She's supposed to be getting married soon. She mentioned it in one of the stupid celebrity shows she did (I think they cancelled that show. I haven't seen it on recently. Who cares about what celebs like to eat?).

I never watch Emeril. He gets on my nerves and, I can't stand it when they show the audience members looking at him like they think he's God.

Alton Brown is great! His nephew is so cute.

I"m a Food Network Junkie as well. I was in the restaurant business for over 20 years and love to cook!

I Love "Barefoot Contessa". I have 3 of her books, and believe it or not, not all the receipes are fattening, but I understand what you're saying about all the cream and butter in her receipes.

I used to hate Rachel, but she's a bit like a train reck, once you watch you can't stop! I have a couple of her cookbooks, and her receipes are pretty good.

I,too, love the Food Network. I do watch them all, but I do like Rachel Ray though. Her recipes I find yummy and practical. She uses things that the average household would have on hand and they do taste really good. My gripe with some of the other chefs is that they make and use things that I don't have, I don't know what they are, nor would I make the dish at home. I'm just an average girl looking to fake it and Rachel does that for me.

Regarding her attire, you are right, she does need an overhaul. She does seem to be looking better though ever since she appeared in the mens magazine 'Maxim'.

Gee

hellokitty
09-07-2005, 07:02 AM
If she really does look like she did in Maxim (although who knows, with all the airbrushing possibilities), her stylists do her no justice when on 30 Minute Meals. She has a short torso, don't have her tuck in her fitting shirts into snug fitting pants. Let the shirt hang over, she would look SO much better.

I really loved $40 A Day. I'm sad to hear about her new show Tasty Travels because it implies that she's done with $40. I only saw one episode of TT and I wasn't a fan. As cheap as she appeared w/the glass of water or the low tips, I really enjoyed $40. I even have that book, and although I've read it already, I love going back to it and re-reading it. I'm tellng you, she's an addiction of mine. It's the corniness! I love the corniness!

I do like to watch Paula, she is a doll. She knows her food is not the healthiest, that's what I like about her. Oh, the number of sticks of butter she has used!

Not sure how I feel about Sandra Lee. The Semi-Homemade idea is a great one, but the prepackaged items she uses are loaded w/sodium. And I get get over how big her boobs are.

I love Dave Lieberman, on Saturdays at 1:30pm EST. Very enjoyable and cute! Though some of his recipes are not that appealing. I have his cookbook but am yet to make any of the dishes.

And I do like Giada at times. I've made a few of her dishes. Very easy to follow. And I like the music they play in the background while she is stirring and chopping and mixing away.

I've watched Everyday Italian a few times, and I like Giada. I'm definitely not a cook, but the recipes do seem simple. I think she's really pretty too (not that that has anything to do with the cooking).

I like watching Unwrapped. I find it interesting to see the start-to-finish process foods go through. I saw Kim & Scott's Pretzels on there a few weeks ago. My 8-year-old son likes to watch with me too.

I could watch Nigella Lawson all day. She just seems so calming to me. Maybe it's her voice or something. I know she used to be on FN, but I haven't seen her lately. I think she's got a great body.

I'm a Food Network junkie too! Since my cable company started carrying it a few years ago I find myself watching it a lot more than QVC...I thought it was just me but the Q gets a lot less of my money and time than it used to get...hmm wonder why???

beekeeper
09-07-2005, 09:48 AM
lol ... so I see this is an old thread that I contributed to ... so I'll update my views ...

Still LOVE Ina (need more new shows!!) and Giada, but Giada's smile get's annoying after awhile. That sounds so bad ... but at times her smile seems forced and un-natural. I've used many of their recipes ... very simple and delicious!!!

While I agree about Rachaels shirts tucked into her jeans ... I still love her. Since she got engaged, she has lost weight and IMO looks great. You can always tell an old show (look for the ring).

Sandra Lee's show is good (used some of her recipes too) but I can't STAND kitsch (spelling?) ... every show the set is decorated to match the food she is cooking, which of course matches her outfit (BLECK). I also agree on the high sodium stuff ... you have to watch that.

Paula just cracks me up ... she has gained weight, lol ... no big surprise since everything has a stick of butter and/or sour cream and mayo ... I have tried her ooey gooey bars (pumpkin and chocolate/peanut butter) ... delish!

That "how to boil water" chick bugs me too! She needs to go. The show originally had this really hot (and sexy) French guy and the same girl (jack?) ... but then he left and they brought in Tyler. I like Tyler, but would prefer the French guy ... GAWD I love an accent on a man! :-)

Dave Lieberman is my new boyfriend ... lol ... too darned cute! If I'm watching and my hubbie walks in ... he leaves cuz I gush about him! hehe! I like how his recipes are more sensible ... not every recipe needs 39 ingredients (are you listening Martha?).

While I love how big Emerils heart is (that man is very charitable and kind), I don't like the show. BAM ... oivey ...

hellokitty

Haha, this is going to be the first place I go when I need to vent about the Food Network hosts. It's such a relief to be able to say these things!

Besides the ring that RR is sporting due to her engagement, you will notice those not-so-subtle highlights. She has definitely been slimming down, but one recent episode it looked like she was way bloated. She was so cute with her all one color hair. Don't get me wrong, I have highlights and I have gone too light w/the highlights, but then again, I'm not on tv. And when she adds grated nutmeg to whatever she is cooking - dark greens, dessert...she says "It's the one thing that will make them go HMMMM". When I hear the nutmeg come into play, I cringe because I know what is coming.

I love Barefoot Contessa. For some reason her voice is so soothing, and she just seems to have so much style when it comes to decorating. I love when they show her garden, and the decor of her house.

I agree about How to Boil Water. That girl Jack for the most part sits there watching Tyler, whereas when the French chef was there, she also assisted in the cooking process. Hopefully that was done because she wanted it, and not because Tyler wanted to hog up more attention on the show.

I'm slowly starting to get into Michael Chiarello. He's got some good ideas.

I do love the food shows on QVC, for some reason. Whether it is kitchen gadgets or the food itself. Sometimes I'm even tempted to purchase the foods, but then I see the S&H and I quickly change my mind.

Although, I am not a fan of In the Kitchen w/Bob. Rather *yawn* when he's hosting, no? (But I think that topic is on another thread!) :)

I miss the original 'foodies' - Julia Child and Graham Kerr. I grew up watching them. Julia was my inspiration to become (IMO) a good cook and I thought the Galloping Gourmet was a hunk.

I love Paula Dean just because of her rags to riches story. She does do a lot of high calorie/hight fat foods but moderation is the key in all things! As long as you have a hungry crew to feed and they all take a little bit, it can't be that bad to work for her.

I am SO into Anthony Bourdain. He's sexy in an edgy kind of way. He's the only guy I would allow to wear a thumb ring and earring and still respect. Have you ever seen a cooking show with an 'adult content' warning? He says it like it is with a dry wit. 'No Reservations' is the bomb.

BarbaraM
09-07-2005, 02:03 PM
Just my opinions about the Food Network...I love the Barefoot Contessa, she seems like a lot of fun and she is very soothing to listen to when she's preparing a recipe..plus she at least looks like she actually eats what she cooks...yeah most are overloaded with butter, cream, etc...but all of her recipes that I've tried have been delicious and most of them are really easy to prepare. If I could trade lives with someone on that network for one week, it would definitely be Ina...think about it,,,living in that lovely housemoney is no object...friends dropping by for dinner with great gifts, like flowers, bread. olive oil...and her husband is away working from Monday thru Friday..sorry honey!!..lol
There's no way Sandra Lee eats any of the stuff she makes and still weigh 100 lbs. She's too much with the co-ordinated outfits and kitchen decorations and ornate "tablescapes", but she does have some good time-saving ideas.
Rachel Ray just gets on my nerves with the hand-waving, body motions, "yumm-o" and "evoo" and "sammies"...but again she's got some good ideas
Emeril is good hearted I think after seeing his Kitchen Makeover show with the school in Harlem. I'm not a fan of his, but that show was really nice. He just seems to be on way too much.
Paula seems like a lot of fun too, and those sons of hers are hot.,esp. the taller one. and just like Ina Garten, she at least looks like she enjoys her own recipes.
Tyler Florence is adorable too, the girl with him is annoying though.
They're the ones I watch mostly...I'm pretty much addicted to the Food Network, I learn a lot and enjoy the different personalities.

Puddy, I met Anthony Bourdain when I was in London back in April ... it was so cool! We were in a bookstore (checking out the local magazines) and my husband elbows me and nods toward a shifty looking guy in sunglasses. It was him ... I did my walk-by, to make sure. I must have been too obvious, cuz he looked at me over his sunglasses and said "American"? (giggle) I said "yes ... love your show on the Food network". He smiled and and said thanks ... and shook my hand. I was floored! I had always expected him to be kind of a jerk ... but he was very nice. Even more handsome in person too!

I also watch Rachel Ray, even though she annoys the hell out of me with the things she says. She thinks a piece of raw meat or vege is "gorgeous". What's with that ancient stove she uses? I cringe when she has to bend down to use it. It makes my arthritic knees hurt. Her fiancee is very nice looking. Ina is fun to watch, but I can't eat any of her recipes that I've seen on TV. I was just thinking yesterday about Sandra Lee's skinny frame and big boobs. lol. I like Giada's recipes. I grew tired of Emeril years ago and have to change the channel when he comes on. I've never seen him make anything healthy. Paula Deen is fun to watch, but I can't eat any of her recipes either. Oh well. I'll just have to sit in front of the TV and drool over the fattening recipes.

My friend works at the publishing company that helped RR out with a few of her latest books. Said she was very hyper in person and very demanding. That kind of made me sad, because I've always envisioned her to be sweet.

The episode of 30 Minute Meals where she made foods her dog Boo liked to eat was touching. Boo passed away earlier this year. At the end it looked as if RR was going to cry. They even showed pics of Boo at the end of the show.

I read she will be getting married very soon, in Tuscany, Italy, and will be editor-in-chief of a cooking magazine to start in Sept/Oct. My addiction continues, you know I will be one of the first to purchase that, even though I could probably find the recipes right online.

Prior to the FN being launched, I looked forward to the weekends when they showed all the cooking shows. I still like watching them now.

America's Test Kitchen is pretty good. I like when they have them on all day for their fundraiser.

Everyday Food is good too. I was surprised to see that it was part of the Martha Stewart enterprise, but I have gotten over that. When I remember it's on, I like watching it.

Lidia's Kitchen Table (I think that's the name?) - anyway, w/Lidia, the Italian mother...I like her too! I esp like when she cooks with her daughter. Her grandchildren are adorable.

Ming Tsai, who used to be on FN, is now on public tv. I met him at his restaurant Blue Ginger a few years back. He was very personable and friendly.

I used to love Frugal Gourmet! It bothered me when those accusations about the host Jeff Smith (?) came out. My favorite episode must have been when he had Elmo as his guest host.

Puddy I loved the Urban Peasant. It used to be on TLC about 12 years ago and I tried never to miss a show. I loved the fact that he didn't take himself too seriously and would say well if you don't have this...use what you got!!! I used to really like Michael Chiarello, but for some reason he bothers me now ... ???

I miss Rocco Dispirito ... I really liked him on Food Network (HOT!!!). Also really enjoyed watching the first season of "the restaurant".

I never really liked the Iron Chef, but now that we have the Iron Chef America series ... I watch it whenever I can! Cat and Mario are my faves, although it seems he really DID eat all of Italy! :-(

The "diet" shows don't seem to be doing well ... guess most "foodies" aren't really into the low carb thing.

I think Michael Chiarello is a little pompous IMO
I remember the Urban Peasant too, but I don't see him anymore. I really like America's Test Kitchen but when I got their magazine a year or so ago I cancelled my subscription because the recipes were just too too involved.

I was watching Michael Chiarello last night and I used to kind of like him, but he does seem a bit pompous and that little bit of non-shaved area below his lower lip is pretty distracting. The star-trek sideburns are pretty ridiculous, too.

I like Rachel Ray, but she would get on my nerves if she was around all the time. I think she should marry the guy that's on the Discovery channel that chases animals.. I can't remember his name, though. They look alike and have similar personalities.

p.s. How do you like my new avatar? It's my adorable kitty Junipurr!

Wow, gorgeous cat, Jasmine! My kitties have blue eyes, too, just like their "mama." (I'm not nearly as hirsute, though, lol.)

LOL, Jeff Corwin and Rachael Ray! You would never get any sleep if you spent time with the two of them. Always amped! (Not sure if Jeff is who Jas was referring to, but he is who popped into my head as I read the post!)

And yes, to those who think Michael Chiarello is a bit pompous, I totally agree. That is why in the beginning I didn't watch his shows. I only started because there was nothing else at that time. He definitely has that "I'm better than you" attitude.

Jas, I was going to comment on your new kitty avatar. Junipurr--cute name--she's gorgeous! We used to have a kitty (Natasha--Tasha for short) when I was younger who looked A LOT like your Junipurr. She lived for 20 years.

I really like watching Jeff Corwin. I think he's a hoot and seems to know what he's talkin' about. I can't say too much about Rachel, though, because I don't really watch her (unless she's on a talk show or something), but what I have seen of her, I think it would totally be a talkfest with the two of them. Oh yeah, also, I think Rachel's mouth looks like the Jokers from Batman. :)

Jasmine46, is that your cat? She is gorgeous. My family has a cat, Monique, and she is just your regular short-haired cat, but grey and cute. My parents also took in another cat, Lucy, who is an orange tabby cat. They are at my parents house, so when I visit, we hang out. People need to appreciate cats more. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs too...I think you don't have to be either a cat lover or dog lover. You can love them both!

AussieMrs, love the RR / Joker lips comment. I could not agree with you more. Jeff's crazy with the things he does, but he is definitely knowledgeable and enjoyable to watch.

Jeff Corwin IS adorable! I used to watch him all the time, haven't seen him in a while. His personality is so cute and seemingly genuine ... I saw some show with bloopers of his show ... too funny!

I personally don't care for Rocco. To me he comes across as a spoiled brat. Also, to me, Michael Chiarello isn't pompous, he's just plain boring.

Applepie - That is one of the best things about the Urban Peaseant. Let's see...I have a can of tuna, a Brillo pad, some walnuts and a soccer ball...I know! Let's make dinner!!! No, I'm kidding! He really can make a decent meal (usually with a small dessert) of of almost anything and it is always economical. I check his website regularly and he has moved from the city to the country. He seems to love it.

Beekeeper.....Just wanted to remind you of Rocco's shows.

But, it seems there has been an adjustment on the schedule.
The schedule now shows only one show instead of two. He will be on at 4:00 p.m. Eastern. The 9:00 p.m. show has been changed to Kitchen Ideas.

I recently found the "I Hate Rachael Ray" message board. Initially I thought of joining, but they are soooo hateful...I don't really HATE her, she just does things that make me crazy at times. Actually, after I posted here about her, I felt a lot better. I've seen the episodes repeatedly, but alas, still addicted. It is hard for me to switch between her and Golden Girls on the weekdays.

I am shocked there is an actual I hate Rachael Ray message board. I think she is a little over the top and talks non stop but for the most part I can get through 30 mins of her. She does have some really good recipes.

Thanks Jasmine, it is a very interesting article. I would never suspect food snobs not liking her but after reading the article I can see why they don't, which happens to be the same reason why I do like her (recipes), go figure.

I think I read that article. It also says that, when the author tried making some of the 30-minute meals they took longer than 30 minutes. Yeah, I don't understand all the hatred for her either. She laughs too much and is too perky but, there's no reason to actuallly hate her.

Puddy, I didn't know the Urban Peasant had a web site. Does it have any of his recipies? I remember after watching one of his shows in which he made Coq au Vin I got so enthused that I started making it for dinner that night. My husband thought I had lost my mind as it was about 300 degrees out(July in NC) and I'm making a meal that would be good to eat after putting up the Christmas decorations. His shows had that affect on me ...I wanted to make everything he presented. maybe I'll Google him.

Thanks for this article! Everyone is so hard on her, I am almost compelled to defend her! Although the meals don't take 30 minutes, they are fairly simple, and they do taste pretty good.

IMO, many of these snobby chef's are just a bit jealous because Rachael Ray seems to be the most popular host (and shows) on the Food Network. I'm pretty sure that MOST of us can't afford to spend $100's on every meal, or spend hours preparing it!

You know, I'm a bit of a food snob myself ... but I got so sick of Martha's recipes all requiring 50 ingredients, many of which are very difficult to find. I'm pretty sure Ina could buy and sell many of these people, yet she still says "if you don't have this, use this instead" ...

I like Rachel too I like the fact that the ingredients are pretty simple to find. Who has time to track down some of the stuff Emeril uses. Good Eats is a good show too IMO. I like the scientific stuff that Alton Brown uses to teach about what happens when making a particular dish.

Just have to say something since I vented previously about Rachael. After reading all the mean things people say about her on other boards, for some reason she doesn't bother me anymore. The crazy hands still drive me crazy, I just look away from the tv screen at that moment.

I'm working on a healthy relationship w/my friend Rachael. LOL. My boyfriend thinks I'm nuts because it's not that I hated her, but she made me nuts, but now although I think she is corny(I know I'm corny too), she is a healthy addiction! :)

Lisa, look! Somebody read your post! lol

If you're referring to Paula Deen, I don't really notice her accent. I guess when you're in the deep south, a Georgia peach sounds just fine. :)

I can, however, say that other accents are extremely noticeable to me, so I totally understand what you're saying. I guess it all depends on what we're used to, and that's why people in broadcasting are strongly encouraged to lose the regional accent. It can be very distracting to those who aren't from that area. I read somewhere that a Midwest "accent" is the one most people find pleasing to listen to. And, Cubby, that doesn't mean Chicago. lol
