I think the hosts at ShopNBC would generate more posts than any other, because they are so very strange.

I have to admit I sometimes enjoy Charla, even though the first time I saw her I thought she was crazy.

My cable system ditched ShopNBC. Bummer, because it was strangely entertaning. Especially the chandelier guy that said his products were great for over the bathtub! My bathroom is so small you have to turn sideways to fart. How the hell would I get a chandelier in there?

Wes and Pam. Can you say SNL skit? I always had the feeling I was watching SNL with those two. Then, lo and behold Wes grew on me. And not in the moldy kind of way. It was a hoot to watch Pam on air without her trusty Wes. She was is so co-dependant on him that I bet he wipes her ass!

HHigirl, FOMCL! Okay, have you ever considered writing one of those campy novels, like "Serial Mom" or "War of the Roses"? I think you have a knack for it . . . lol! (Hmmm, I just realized that Kathleen Turner starred in both flix.)

Thank you!!!! That is one my other secret desires to be some sort of writer or part an ad agency. Can you believe my family doesn't think I am funny? I will say something, they will just look at me. I will say "that was funny" and that just say we are used to you and expect no less. Damn Philistines!

On the ShopNBC, I miss that channel because the always had make up shows with Benefit cosmetics another one of my many faves!

Charla is entertaining too! And who was the one with the Harley? I think she was a former Air Force captain and had her own jewelry line for a while. I think ShopNBC's jewelry is nicer than the Q. I have a few pieces and they are very weighty (is that a word?)

Hi HHIgirl, I think you are thinking of Karen Connelly. (not sure I spelled her name right) Awhile back I came across a website of hers. She was part of the big group that left last spring or summer. Interesting group of hosts, but I think their jewelry is fabulous.

Hey Golf!
Nice to see you! I think you are right, it was Karen. Was she one of the ones let go? It is interesting to find out how they all know each other, the hosts from the various channels that is.

My cable does not carry ShopNBC but I have seen a picture of Wes McCoy and was wondering if anyone knows if he is the same guy that use to be on HSN in the 80's. Can't be but so many "Wes McCoys" around. Anyway, HSN fired him because "he didn't fit in with the company's future plans." He used to say some really weird things and talked more about his personal life than the products he was selling. I always enjoyed hearing his tales.

Hugs right back a'cha, HHigirl! Yeah, I can see you (I sound like a seer!) writing a dark comedy about a cosmetic counter girl, which would incorporate your vast make-up knowledge, too. Maybe she could be a murderess who kills her victims with lethal face powder! Yikes!

You are definitely funny. In fact, you're partially to blame for my fascination with this blasted forum; your posts crack me up!

I never watch ShopNBC for the same reason I don't eat Krispy Kreme Doughnuts: It's too much of a temptation. (Besides, I heard ShopNBC has terrible customer service.)

Wes sounds exactly like that real estate guy, Carleton Sheets.

They both talk with their mouths kind of closed and their tongues pressed against the roof. Like mush-mouthed.

I cannot stand Pamela's Minnesota pronounciation of "O." You know, the way she says "coolt" (not exactly, but that MN and Michigan accent) for coats.

I watch ShopNBC. Great jewelry (for looking only). One day Charla was modeling Pam's clothing line and I thought Charla was on speed. Pam didn't look too thrilled!

Wes and Pam make me gag. They are so attentive towards each other...kinda fake. barf barf But Pam is beautiful. Her makeup is always perfect and her preferred lip color -> RED!!

Thinking about Karen Connelly just made me do a little net surfing. A new shopping channel will launch in Minneapolis this Feb. ( I just googled new shopping channel minneapolis if anyone is interested) I'm guessing a few of the old Shop NBC hosts will be reappearing soon!

I watch SNBC once in awhile; have never purchased anything. The first time I saw Charla I thought she was AWFUL; then I watched her some more and now I think she's a riot! (In small doses ....) There's a funny looking guy (host?) who sells watches -- he reminds me of "Wimpy" from the Popeye comics! And some of their guests are bizarro entertaining -- one lady who sells jewelry has a thick accent and her head bent over with her hair falling in her face all the time.

Everyone seems to talk VERY LOUD on that channel, too!!

HHI - if you go to their website, www.shopnbc.com, you can watch the live feed. If Charla is on, make sure you turn the computer volume down, she tends to blast out of the small screen. I like ShopNBC and have been ordering off and on (check their clearance area out, the sales are killer) for a while now. I have found their online customer service to be excellent. For example the sheets I recently bought (600TC and make Northern Nights look pathetic) were marked down a couple of days after I ordered them. I emailed their C/S department and had my account credited for the markdown within 24 hours. Not too bad.

They do have a 30 day pricing guarantee.... the Q does not need that policy.
If they mark something down within 30 days of your purchase, they will adjust accordingly.
QVC never has a clearance sale - whoops, is $2.21 off of an item supposed to be a sale???

Charla is definitely my favorite. She is the only one that seems to have a bit of a personality, IMO.

Oh Pam!!!!!! Oh Wessss!!!!!!! Don't those 2 just drive you crazy?

Jim Skelton is "Wimpy" (I liked Tim Temple better) and the jewelry lady is French, Sonia Bitton, who used to run Chuck Clemency's office in NYC - I heard him say that once on air. Sonia B.'s jewelry is gorgeous, but way overpriced for the carat weights of the stones.

Wes McCoy used to be on CVN years ago. He did the morning show with Judy Crowell. Personally I think he & Pam are very weird. She's so sweet, she could give me Diabetes.

My cable network carries Shop NBC just a few times a week. I never did get to see Steve Bryant - whenever it is on, they are selling some boring coins or yet another PC.

Panda: I think you're confused. Steve Bryant is not on ShopNBC but on Shop at Home.
Karen Connely has her own web site and the link is as follows: SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMkarenconnelly.info/index.html
She states on her site that she QUIT the ShopNBC and was not fired. You can read it for yourself along with a few other items she has.
From what I've heard, all the hosts that left ShopNBC did so in order to start up a new shopping channel that should be starting up very soon. Laura Duffy, Tim Temple, Karen Connelly and Carmella Richards are names I've heard mentioned that will be at the new channel. I don't think they were happy with the ShopNBC format and preferred the old Value Vision. Of course, this is all hearsay.

Pam and Wes remind me of Kathy Lee and Frank, pre-flight attendent scandal. They are so into the image of the "perfect marriage".

Charla has only one speed, Mach 7, and it's grating. She's not that funny.

I look forward to seeing Karen and Carmella again. They were the best on that channel. It's a shame they have such odd over the top hosts. I've bought a few pieces from ShopNBC and their quality is outstanding. I'd probably buy more, but watching that channel can make my ears bleed.

Thanks Carlinka! So no, I have not seen ShopNBC, but have seen Shop at Home, when it is aired. I'll have to see if ShopNBC is on - is it only on late at night, or all day long?

ShopNBC is a 24/7 channel here, most of the hosts I've seen on there seem quite annoying and loud. I stop on that channel sometimes when Kerry McNally is hosting, enjoyed him when he was on HSN and he seems like a nice guy. Ordered from them a couple of times online when they've had that $50 off coupon, stuff got here pretty quick and the quality was really good.

newMilly, you cracked me up with "Oh Pam!!!!!! Oh Wessss!!!!!!!"... you hit the nail on the head.

Although, I must say, I always found Pam, Laura Ramsey, and Carmela Richards all very easy on the eyes!

Following up on the Karen Connelly web site, she has posted the following information:

I am officially working at WSS, The Worldwide Shopping Source; along with Kendy, Laura, Tim, Carmela and more people that you will recognize. We are very excited about our new network and hope that you will join us. The website is Shoppingsource.com and you want to stay tuned to that site for the lastest information.

Take care and may the Source be with you!

Looks like a resurrection of Value Vision, sort of.

I watch ShopNBC more than any other of the shopping channels, the hosts are strange, but not as UGLY as that one station, I think it is HSN? They have that ugly curley blonde gal who is just plain stupid with buck teeth yakking away!
Anyway, the 'new' hosts are somewhat disappointing, and I have to say that Kristi's voice makes my ears bleed--I can't turn her off fast enough, but I like to look at the jewelry, don't watch so much anymore now that the regular hosts have quit, but the QUALITY of their jewelry, especially from the Ramsey's (Gems at Large) is just spectacular. I have several pieces from their collection and they are heavy weight jewelry for sure!! I just laugh when I look at the jewelry presentations from QVC/HSN/SHOP at HOme--horrible, thin shanks, small stones, bad diamonds (or fake diamonds).
I have always had fairly good luck in dealing with them anyway.
Pam and Wes are like sucking down pure sugar, but she must have the most beautiful hands in the business, ALL hosts on TV modeling jewelry should have their nails done by whoever does hers--it should be a LAW!! :-)
Another shopping channel with the UGLIEST hosts is ACNTV, they have thick accents, and ugly, ugly, ugly hands that they 'present' the jewelry with--LOL, makes you want to be more sick than buy, at least if you are on TV dress nicely (not like you came from the blue light special at wal-mart) and HAVE YOUR NAILS NICELY DONE!!!!!!!!!

OMG, ACNTV is hysterical! They call their audience "guys". Hey guys this and Hey guys that. The hosts are unprofessional and have that used car salesmen presentation.

I don't know about the quality of their jewelry, but I've noticed lately that they are going more high end. Probably in an effort to compete with ShopNBC. The problem is they have such poor production values and that stupid rotating tray.

And yes, the nails. They're horrible.

I cycle between QVC, HSN and ShopNBC. I watch with the sound OFF as I cannot bear another "this is going fast, only xx left, last time it didn't last, we won't be able to get it back....." that is constant between ALL of them. Drives me crazy. OK, if I miss it, I miss it and I've saved some money.

Shop NBC has killer sales, often with free shipping. Pamela McCoy's leathers are nice quality; her nappa is equal or better to what's sold on HSN as lambskin. I've not had a problem with the customer service.

I started out with QVC. They used to be innovative, entertaining and offer some unique products. Now they're boring most of the time and the shopping channel I watch the least. HSN and ShopNBC most of the time offer flex payments or value payments on almost anything about $50. Not QVC. Shop NBC is probably best for free shipping. QVC very rarely ships anything for free, plus their idea of a discount $2 to $5 certainly doesn't entice me to rush out and buy anything. And please, I am sick of Breezies. It's hard for me to believe that anyone is still buying these things. This is no comment on the quality, just that she must live near the studio as she's on every week and several times a week. Just get tired of seeing her.
