First off, Let me state that I know plenty of people that work at QVC in various departments. Nothing makes them laugh more than reading these posts from people who think they now what's what. A great deal of people on these boards really need to spend more time outdoors...

Probably...but sometimes hosts are so bad and merchandise is so idiotic and shows are so terrible that customers/fans have to air their gripes somewhere. I really don't care whether or not QVC thinks this board is funny or even amusing--I get to vent and let others know how I really feel--a good merchandiser would be interested, someone who only saw the profit margin wouldn't care.

But I do spend time outdoors. I have the best of both worlds.
Just the other day I went hiking and got lost. I did not bring any food with me. Lucky for me I had my cell phone and my hand held tv. I was getting really hungry and there wasn't an animal around for miles. At this point I hadn't slept for 36 hours. I was exhausted. I tried earlier calling for help on my cell phone but there was no signal. So I decided to plop down next to a fallen tree. I got out my little tv and lo and behold the only channel with reception was QVC. They were showing the Corky's BBQ pork ribs segment. Oh man, I just about passed out when I saw that. I instinctively reached for my cell phone and my credit card, like I was programmed or something. I called the QVC toll free number, eventhough the odds were against me reaching anyone. So I tried it anyways. To my amazement, a customer care person actually answered. I was ecstatic! My conversation with the rep went something like this:

QVC rep: Hello, My name is Melissa, thank you for calling QVC what would you like to order today?

Me: Oh bless you my child, I would like to order 4lbs of the Corky's BBQ Pork ribs item number M9006.

QVC rep: Okay, that will be 4lbs of the Corky's BBQ ribs item number M9906.
............ How would you like that shipped sir?

Me: As quickly as possible! Federal express it overnight if you can.

QVC rep: You already know how high our shipping charges are as it is, do you really want it shipped overnight?

Me: Yes, yes damn it, ship it!

QVC rep: (chuckling) Ok, it's your party. And what kind of credit card will you be using today sir?

Me: Put it on my discover card. My number is 4024 7670 3154 XXXX, expires 9/06.

QVC rep: Okay, that'll be 4 lbs of Corky's BBQ Pork ribs with over night priority shipping. Your total will come out to $575.59.

Me: Five hundred bucks!, what are you insane? You SOB's are ripping me off big time here. The ribs alone are only $48.25. You mean to tell me your hitting me up for $527 in shipping?

QVC rep: I warned you. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Me: Damn you people! Oh Crap, what the hell. Ship it. At this point I've
got no choice.

QVC rep: And what is your address sir?

Me: Umm.....well, I'm in the Olympia National Forrest. Just tell the FED X guy to go 10 miles east from cotton tail creek then 5 miles north to Swamp Falls then head NW to Beaver's Butt trail after that he's on his own cause i don't have a clue where the F*** I am at.

QVC rep: Ok. Thank you sir and thank you for calling QVC. Have a nice day.

LOL Ghost - did the Fex Ex guy find you? If so, I hope those ribs arrived fresh. Actually, I think you should call and say they were spoiled and you'd like your entire purchase (incl S & H) credited - that'll teach 'em.

getalife: If you know anyone in the warehouse, perhaps you could ask them to stop sending out returns to customers who are expecting new merchandise (dirty clothes, broken jewelry, etc). Thanks! BTW, why aren't YOU outside instead of posting on here with us?

beagl - Yeah, he finally got it to me. Couldn't return them, they were pretty good. However, he forgot his way back and we were both lost this time. Lucky for him, I didn't eat all four pounds. Two days later we were found by his supervisor with the tracking device the trucks carry. He gave him a good tongue lashing and wrote him up for violating more than 20 company rules. Now the driver has it in for me and for QVC for sending him on this run.

Hey Ghost - glad you enjoyed the ribs and you shared - awww. Watch out for that driver, he may just start posting on this board bashing both you and the Q. Thank goodness for GPS though, 'cause we'd miss your posts :)

Thanks beagle. I better lay low for a while, Jethro is a pretty big dude and VERY pissed off. If the offices at QVC catches fire, tell the authorities to look for a deranged six and a half foot 300lb Gorilla wearing shorts.

LOL Ghost funny post. :)

But why is the food they sell so overpriced? You have to take out a loan just to get that Chesapeak crab meat or those stuffed pretzels. Don't get me started on Junior's cheesecake. :)

Ghost

Yeah Cub. The food, the other stuff and the S&H. However, the cheesecake segments are my favorite. Man, just thinking about a cheesecake makes me feel like running out and getting one. I go to a factory warehose about 20 miles from my home that sells strictly cakes and cheesecakes to local supermarkets. I pick up a 7" NY Cream cheesecake for $5.00. I would end up paying about $40 w/shipping & handling for a Juniors cheesecake from the Q.

I know it's the hosts job to play up anything they sell but they make it seem like these are the deals of the century. Man 5 bucks for a cheesecake that is a great deal. Are they considered irregular like maybe the color is off just a shade. It's still good just not what they would like a certain shade to be.

Man, these cakes could be blue for all I care. I'm saving $35 bucks, LOL.
To answer you're question, no. They are sold at wholesale prices to the public. I've seen the exact same ones at some super markets marked up 100% or more. QVC would mark them up 500% and charge you $8 to have someone put an address label on your box (handling chg) and another $4 for postage.

Ghost - once again, pure genius. You are the best.

Cubsfan - I was watching HSN the other day. They had a food show for one hour. Some stuff had FREE s/h and the most they charged was $9.95. QVC jacks it up WAY more than that. Dry ice is not that expensive and neither is styrofoam. If HSN can do it - so can QVC.

To Getalife - I have a life. It consists of manicures, pedicures, hair cuts, tanning, exercise, excessive shopping, this BB and lots and lots of phone sex. How else do you think I pay for everything? There's a sucker born every minute. As for QVC reading this BB - they do read this BB and a few others. They pay attention to what is posted on here, good and bad, and also are on the look out for potential stalking situations.

Please enlighten us ignorant rubes...why is it necessary for you to post on here if YOU have a life. Leave us losers alone, 'kay? This BB is all we have...sniff....sniff.

Ghost, that was hilarious! I had just finished posting about Cub's Koos and Mr. Magoo remark being funny, so I guess I was primed. Plus, HHI had started it out with her cool Full Moon post! Trolls on Ignore and funny posts from y'all. Life is good! :)

How do we REALLY know that you have this insider knowledge...prove it..tell us some inside stories, like how do some things get shipped with nothing in the box? Surely they must know..

Puddy, I thought we were supposed to keep the phone sex thingy a secret until the Pentagon got ya a secure land.

Wonder if Ghost can get creamed cheese rat cakes at the Q....

I am still stuck on that "outdoors" stuff.

What in the world is so great about going outside?

Great posts, Ghost and puddy...

getalife... gottalife... ain't got no life... what's it to ya??? Thanks for the pity party. sigh. I am glad those morons at the Q think we should all go outside.
Don't they know most of us don't get adequate reception when we venture out into the "real" world?

majel
02-11-2005, 12:36 PM
This is to getalife....If you really know people who work at the Q, and if
they love to read these posts because they make them laugh, well fine,
but as a long time shopper with QVC, and having spent alot of money
with them, but lately, alot less...I understand now why the quality of the
products, service and returns has gone down , down down....Because they
are all, as you stated ,Laughing at us posters, who PAY THEIR SALARY....
I for one, feel they should not be laughing, but trying to ALWAYS do the
job they do better.....and pay attention to those of us WHO PAY THEIR WAY!!

They "real world" blows that is why someone kind soul invented Amaretto.

You better be drinking Frangelico - it looks more like a Monk... better for a Lenten Friday! Yikes, I have to do the "sign of the cross" whenever I think about that stuff...

Thanks for the reminder! I completely forgot that some benevolent being gave us Frangelico. I am half Sicilian we use Amaretto and Sambuco for every "medicinal" purpose under the sun. Seems like Nana always had a a little "cough" right after dinner!

Guess what? I read on another board that the ISP was traced back to someone at QVC.

Rebel_Mom
02-11-2005, 04:27 PM
Why am I not surprised? If QVC was really concerned about what is said on these boards, why don't they do something to bring their service and products back up to where they used to be? The service they provided is what hooked us all in the first place.

I probably have spent more at QVC than I would like to admit...........in 14 years.............if they don't clean up their act and improve..........I will shop at ShopNBC or go to the mall where I don't have to pay excessive shipping and handling
