Kids, I'd have to give the title to poor Steve Bryant. He reminded me of those boys in high school who were moderately intelligent but just couldn't fit in, somehow. He acted older than his years, claimed he owned almost EVERY product he sold, and his mouth looked like a hatchet wound. He was probably teased in school for being a little effeminate. I dunno...he just always rubbed me the wrong way. There was something desperate and false about him. Don't hurt me!!!!

just my opinion

Steve probably did own just about every product he "hawked". He is a little bit geeky, okay a lot! I liked him and I missed him when he left QVC.

I think it's beneath him working for SAH! JMHO...

I am sure there are many out there that liked her, but after watching the Q for very many years I would have to say that Margo St. Ledger was the one that got to me more than any other. She was so totally outside the typical image. She reminded me of a "bird-of-paradise" flower. Her neck was long and skinny, her features very pronounced, and her hair spikey. She probably is a sweetheart, but I sure didn't enjoy seeing her.

Steve Bryant was certainly dopey, but seemed nice at the same time.

Forensicat,
"Hatchet wound." Ha ha ha. That was a good one.

I'd say Steve B. and Bowersox are pretty geeky all right.

I know this is not quite on topic, but the geekest home shopping host I've ever seen in my life is Shawn Wiltse on ShopNBC. If you look up "geek" in the dictionary, you see his picture next to the definition. He also reminds me of Stanford Blatch on Sex in the City, if anyone has ever watched that show.

I have to agree about er, um Margo. It was SO painful to watch um, er, watch her. Even if I LOVED the product she was um, er hawking I coudn't um, er bear it.

SIRGAL

Yeah! An agreement. When I rarely happened upon her I would always double check to be sure I was on the Q. It was hard to imagine she was really on.

Since the definition of "geek" last I looked was clumsy, inept,or foolish, the
award goes to Dan Wheeler, HANDS DOWN. I have been watching him since
he came to the Q and I have been just mortified for him as I have watched
him dance like ELVIS, sing and think he was ELVIS, and talk to callers like
he was ELVIS!!!I have watched him shock himself on air, fall down on air,
fall off a bike on air,and on and on ....Steve Byrant???at least he KNEW what
he was doing on air , he did a great job at selling electronics, ever watch
Wheeler fumble around a computer??? I have ,and I cannot believe to this
day, that he is still employed by QVC!!! He tried to show a quick change on
a craftsman saw blade once, and dropped the saw and then dropped the blade....just awful!!! Dan Wheeler is HANDS DOWN Geekiest QVC host of ALL
TIME, and I have seen them all since day one!!!

majel,
So, what do you really think about Dan Wheeler?

LOL LOL LOL

majel
02-12-2005, 06:58 PM
I cannot use the words that really say what I think of Dan Wheeler,
lets just leave it at this, they at the Q ,would be better off bringing back
Kathy and Steve Bryant, and Steve Colluntuno {if he is still alive} than
having Dan Wheelgeeker stay there!!!

Female:
Patricia Bastia, and that damn ear piece that would never stay in her ear.

Male:
Ron Maestri, who was just plain geeky and creepy.

If any one cares - Ron Maestri is the newest show host on Shop at Home in Nashville.

Rowan - I just read your post on Patricia. How on earth did that earpiece fall out? Her ears are plenty big enough to hold two or three earpieces!

The worst female host has to be Lynne Tucker. She could never get her brain and mouth in sync. Never. Ever. Ever.

I thought Bryant was probably the only cool guy on QVC because he was a musician, knew his rock & roll history & saw the Beatles at Shea Stadium back in 65 during his youth. The geekiest person on QVC has to be David Venable without a doubt because he's gay despite trying not to be & excited about being on TV.

puddy
11-11-2005, 07:44 AM
Oh, AR! Steve is so cool. He did an infomercial with that mega-talent, Esteban!!! Steve was not a horrid show host but the pseudo-fame thing was getting a little strange, every now and then.

I would say that David Venable is more annoying to people than geeky. The yum-yum face can get tiresome and tiresome is not always geeky - it's grounds for keeping the camera on a different shot!

Or doing away with the sampling that gets done during food shows.

Steve just thinks he's cool. He was selling a Pink Floyd album several years ago, and kept referring to them as a "he".

I can't stand Dan Wheeler. He is a total geek and/or dweeb.

How about that little elf JRT??? She is the geekiest of them all. I don't care how many times she gets flocked - she still looks like a geek to me! I need a bottle of Pepto next to me everytime she is on!

Jasmine46
11-11-2005, 05:09 PM
JRT is pretty geeky. She thinks she is so pretty and hip and cool. She has been wearing the most hideous lip and nail color for quite a while. It's a weird taupe color that isn't flattering to her skin tone at all. I would say that she and Dan are tied for geekiest and least likeable, then Patti a close second just on principle.

Does anyone remember the SNL commercial spoof on "Mom Jeans"? OMG! The first time I saw it, I was rolling on the floor with laughter. I always wondered if old Janie ever got the drift of that spoof. They HAD to have her in mind when they wrote it.

I do not remember Margo St. ledger and tried to do a search to see who she is-was. If any body can post a link I would love to see her. Sirgal's description makes it something I would not want to miss!

Go to America's Store (which is HSN's sister station) and check out her picture and bio. She went to AS after QVC had the mass exodus.

Special QVC program: Let's go back to 1986: Top Gun was a smash hit at the box office; A Former Monkey Sitter was in the White House; Bon Jovi put out Slippery When Wet; the Space Shuttle Challenger Exploded; and Bill Buckner became my favorite Mets opponent. It was also the year that a tv station started and grew to be a national sensation: QVC. Thanksgiving Night; November 24, 2005 at 10:00 pm until Midnight EST; The Q will be throwing it's 19th Anniversary Party. Can't wait for that special!!!!!!!!!!! ---- "I Still Got It" -Donny Most (Happy Days)

I saw that spoof last weekend, when SNL did a special episode where the entire show was dedicated to all the commercial spoofs they've done over the years....The spoofs about thong baby diapers and adult diapers called "Oops! I Crapped My Pants!" were quite memorable too........

Cubby, I am going to have to agree with you on Bob Bowersux. At first I was leaning towards JRT but then realized she is not a geek she is just an obnoxious chatter box with bad hair and clothes.

Geekiest Male Host--Toss up between little Dan Wheeler and Boob Bowersox

Geekiest Female Host--Jane Treacy-yuuuck, or Antonella Nestor, what the heck is she on anyway---

The geekiest male host bar none, was Steve Bryant. I agree with the original poster.

The geekiest female host was Donna Harfenist. OMG....she was such a know-it-all ugmo. I couldn't STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND her.

lindar - Antonella Nestor ... I still cannot make up my mind about her. She is either the sweetest and most genuine host or a fake who may "blow" any time. Lately some of her silly moments have annoyed me a bit.

La-Ca - I can't agree with you more! I cannot figure the woman out. At first, dumber than a stump and could not put a foot right if her life depended on it. Then, very down and depressed. She then changed to upbeat and prepared as if the whole thing finally settled down. Now, she is getting on my nerves again. She is acting like her job has gone to her head. Her voice is not sincere at all - it's gone all whiney with the dragged out syllables - like she is trying to be cute or something. Will the real Antonella please stand up?

All night long, every caller just fawns over her. Guess it would be easy to let that go to one's head if one was a neurotic, love-starved pre-postal case.

Who? Me? He! He! He! I'll be listening for your question. Leaving the BB but will continue to watch the Q. You need some jammies, don't you? BTW, Carole H. seems genuinely nice. Hope all goes well w/ Patti, if ya know what I mean ...

Edit to add Patti's mention of the box of donuts! Give me a break here. LOL.

What a professional! Patti turned the reins over to Sheila to do the CH review and the fake fireplace intro while she jumped outta those jammies, got into this outfit, ate those donuts and hardly missed a beat. I am in awe.
