Ok, is it just me or am I the only one that thinks food shows are a waste of time and an invitation for stomach issues. Seriously, watching all that food just sitting there "soaking" up germs nauseates me. Yes, I do change the channel after I view this "Trainwreck programming" for a few minutes. But doesn't the dry ice cause some food stuffs to change chemical make up, causing the ingestor to risk a biohazard of weapons of mass hershey squirts? Shouldn't these disgusting items come with an extra pair of breezies?

I totally agree with you!
Seriously, does anyone buy these meats and food products? Don't you think they are somewhat expensive? By the time you pay for S/H is it worth it?
A couple of years ago, I purchased the Mrs. Prindable's apples. Talk about a disappointment.

Mrs. Prindable's Apples of Mass Destruction are ALWAYS at my local Marshall's for dirt dirt dirt cheap. Now, I am no rocket scientist but doesn't any type of chocolate just "go bad' after a turn or two? Unless of course it is the nasty wax based version. Ewwwwwwwwww
And who you risk botulism via the United States Postal Service if I wanted to be that sick I will just visit my local KFC.

Seems like just about everytime I've turned on the Q, either the guy from KC Steaks is on or Jill Bauer. The KC Steak guy seems to always be there along side a pile of meat and him pressing on it; trying to expel all the moisture out...I've had the same feeling when watching the cooking shows, all I can think of is what food has been in the same place some new food is sitting; and it doesn't look like the mess from what was there before has been cleaned up. Then when some of these hosts eat some of the food, all I can think about is how they'll be paying the piper later; and how you'd think they'd learn....Hard to actually concentrate on the food being presented.
LOL @ the hershey squirts comment.....

What is the point of food shows?
What else is Bob Bowersux going to do? :)
I laugh whenever they have the food shows because the food is always overpriced. Junior's cheesecakes better be delivered by a chauffeur for the price that you have to pay for it. :)

I've bought several of the food items over the years and the only one I could say was worth its price is.... kansas city. They are quality and packaged exceptionally. Junior cheesecake, balboa desserts, corky's, prindables, pretzels, ferrara's, crabcakes and the others im not thinking of are nothing but average at best and as someone said earlier...many can be found locally. I remember when I use to buy those light bites that can no longer be aired. Perhaps the Q wanted us to get early dementia and other neurologic disorders from eating them so we would continue to purchase crap that we really dont need.

The Q makes very big bucks off food or they wouldn't have it on all the time. I think most of it is sold to impulse buyers. Come home hungry, turn on TV and there's some guy grilling crab cakes or slicing into a cheesecake and you reach for the phone. When I first started watching the Q there was no food on there at all. Now is almost non-stop. The S&H is ridiculous too.

I have purchased a few of the food items in the past but I don't any longer. I never thought dry ice was something to worry about except if you held it to your skin. I guess I should count myself lucky not having a massive case of hershey squirts.
I don't believe any of the food items are worth the money and the shipping costs just make it even more so.
I can find products as good or better locally.
Just my opinion.

I've purchased the Crab Cakes a couple of times, Mrs. Pindables and the Balboa Celebration cake, which I LOVED!! I had to try it the way Jill went on and on about it and that she had it as her wedding cake. I do have to say it would make an AWESOME wedding cake! I'm getting married in May and wish I could have it as my cake too! :)

Oh Irish! Congrats on our wedding! If you don't mind sharing, where is it going to take place? May is such a wonderful time for a wedding! Good luck to you!!
Hey...I volunteer to "donate" 5 bucks to your "Celebration Wedding Cake Fund"! Any takers out there?
How cool would it be to have a wedding cake via your poster friends?

Thanks so much HHIgirl!
The wedding is Friday, May 27th here in Indiana. It's been a long haul to get to this point,(thanks to the US Government!) since my Fiance is from Ireland, but it's all worth it in the end! We do plan on having something over in Ireland with his family at some point.
I can't imagine how much it would cost to have Balboa make a wedding cake to serve 100+ people and shipping on top of that! And I'm sure you have to have 'connections' to get something special like that.
My sister does wedding cakes etc. on the side, so she's making mine as our gift. I loved that cake so much, what I did do was send her a slice of it to see if she could come close to duplicating it. She said she got very close to the cake portion, but still has to make the entire cake with the fillings and frosting to taste the entire thing together.....she'll then send some to me to taste. I think it's sorta fun, and a bit of a challenge for her.
Once agian, thanks for the congrats!! :)

OMG! That is such an incredible gift for your wedding. I always look at gifts like that are pure tangible/conrete proof of love. Giving up so much of one's time, that you can never get back, is the ultimate loving gift with a cake thrown in to boot!
May in Indiana! It will be so beautiful! I am in Ohio and it doesn't get nice here to the end of May. I am right on Lake Erie...
How did you meet your fiance?

To make a long story short, 3 years ago I was in Ireland and I had lost my passport. Once I realized that I had lost it, I went back to the shops and bank I had been in earlier that day. When I was in one of the shops talking to the owner about it and my now Fiance over heard our conversation and could hear how upset I was...so on my way out of the shop, he stopped me and offered to help me look for it. We kept in touch via email and phone...(we were just friends at that time) but then I invited him to come over for St. Patty's day and to see Chicago.....and then things really started to spark then. We've been engaged over a year now. That's pretty much it in a nutshell!!

That is so romantic! How did he enjoy a Chicago St. Pat's day? I grew up in Whitefish Bay, WI and we went to Chicago for every big event.

Yep....we had a nice time in the city. He really enjoys Chicago, but loved San Fransico even more. The climate really reminded him of Ireland, which is very true! If we could afford to live there, we'd move there! The NW Indiana winters are really getting to me!! :(

I know what you mean about the winters. Although it is 50 here right now and the weather service is getting ready to issue a "winter weather advisory" . Morons, that just means SNOW. Cleveland gets so worked up over nothing!!!!
I actually moved from Newport Beach and San Fransisco back to this mess in the "rust belt".
I also have family in Ireland, County Cork and County Mayo.
