Ricki Lake Year 11 Show Synopsis; Ricki Celebrates 1800 Episodes In October!
Here's some insider information for all of you...
ELEVEN SEASONS STRONG AND STILL KEEPIN’ IT REAL: THE RICKI LAKE SHOW BEGINS NEW SEASON SEPT. 15 Show Celebrates 1800 Episodes in October NEW YORK, NY, September, 2003 – On September 15, 2003, the successful, award-winning series Ricki Lake launches its 11th season in national syndication, continuing the initiative begun last season to explore new, provocative, more diverse and topical material to better reflect the growing interests of Lake and her audience. In October, the talk show celebrates 1800 episodes with a look back at unforgettable moments and memorable guests. “Last season, the series laid the foundation for examining topics from a more experienced perspective,” commented executive producer Michael Rourke, who structured and implemented the new initiatives in season 10 and returns for a second year at the helm. “We made a conscious effort to accommodate our audience’s constantly widening areas of interest, while continuing to produce compelling, edgy shows with the surprising elements that are a staple of the series. It was inspiring to take an established franchise such as Ricki Lake and breathe new life into it and we plan to expand on the success we had last year as we start our 11th season.” Many of last season’s episodes took viewers out on the streets of Manhattan for “man-on-the-street” commentary on that day’s subject matter. “Taking the show out on the streets of New York and really interacting with everyday people, getting their opinions on topics from sex to dating to weight was an integral part of last season and was truly fascinating,” commented Lake. “There was no shortage of colorful opinions, and I look forward to continuing this new approach this year.” This season, Rourke and his production team including co-executive producer Michelle Mazur plan to expand on last season’s unbiased, insider’s look at edgy subjects ranging from hard-hitting topics such as the lethal effects of Ephedra, to taboo topics such as the mail-order bride business to the always entertaining issues including miraculous makeovers. “It’s really important that we continue to offer a variety of topics from the serious to the lighthearted, because our audience is diverse and have individual interests,” commented Lake. “We are also celebrating our 1800th episode in October, and I can’t wait to take a look back at all of the incredible shows we have produced over the past decade,” added Lake. Additionally, during its 11th season, Ricki Lake plans to capitalize on the series’ inventive branded episodes such as “Ricki Investigates,” by establishing a sequence of recurring series focusing on health, fashion, beauty, finances and safety. Loyal viewers will also take comfort in noticing the familiar faces and reliable opinions of Ricki Lake’s recurring experts that they have grown to love and trust, including “jack-of-all-trades” Lauren Lake, “Real World” alum Heather B. and makeover maven Mad Max. -more- Ricki Lake Season 11 – page 2 In 1993, Ricki Lake made history as the fresh-faced 24-year-old who dazzled daytime viewers as the host of one of the first talk shows aimed at a young audience. Ricki’s compassion and infectious personality enabled her to address the tough topics of her generation and established her as one of the most beloved television personalities of the era. Over the past two years, the series has worked to educate viewers – teens and parents – about the realities of teenage pregnancy, and the show’s efforts at preventing teenage pregnancy have been honored three years in a row with the prestigious Gracie Allen Award for public service. Ricki Lake is produced by The Garth Ancier Company in association with Sony Pictures Television (SPT). Executive producer Michael Rourke and co-executive producer Michelle Mazur head up the production team for SPT. Sony Pictures Television is one of the television industry’s leading content providers. "Many of last season’s episodes took viewers out on the streets of Manhattan for “man-on-the-street” commentary"
I didn't care for this gimmick. (I don't like it on People's Court either) Oh well.
